  1. Pretty sure I saw the same post a few days ago. About how everything is so much better at Fuji-Q. I'm not saying I wouldn't try to go to Fuji-Q for the experience of it, but I certainly have very low expectations if I ever go there.
  2. Well for one, crowds suck regardless of "when you decide to go" whether thats a 10 minute drive from your house or a flight away. You can always **TRY** for a slow day doesn't always mean it is going to BE a slow day whenever you go to a park (at least that is what I've noticed.) And besides, not everyone can go on slow days (for example I have a 8-4 M-F job, I have to go to parks on weekends, which means it'll be busier or I have to plan a vacation around it, then I'm out work days.) The one good thing is that you can fly pretty cheaply out of Phoenix to just about anywhere in the west or Texas. Flights from SLC to LA are 110 each way makes going to Disney a little bit more bearable it's about a 6 to 8 hour drive to Vegas or Denver, which isn't TOO bad. I understand it sucks not being next to Disneyland or a 100 Six Flags' but you can always change where you live.
  3. Lagoon - about an hour's drive Adventuredome - in Vegas. Elitch Gardens in Denver I imagine those are the next two parks that are closest. I'm not as familiar with the drive to Idaho's park.
  4. just fascinating to me. Figured you'd go so fast most of the time to always make it through the loop. I don't know if I want to be stuck in this slide pre loop. try to crawl my way out I guess.
  5. ^ is there really a fear of "not making the loop?" Has anyone really "not made the loop" on one of these?
  6. To be honest I don't see myself staying more than 10. 10 is probably the upper limit. I'd spend at least 1 day each at each of the parks (so that's 6 days.) Probably want a second day at a park that we didn't get to "do everything" (maybe Epcot because there is so much stuff to see there.) and then 2 other days to plan out other things at Disney world maybe go to the Lake, enjoy the hotel resorts/downtown disney stuff like that. I don't know if I would want to do more than a day at Animal Kingdom (at least currently) or Magic Kingdom (since I've been to Disneyland a few times.)
  7. That's a funky ride. Looks super fun. I think screaming element should be added to more rides.
  8. I feel like I would want to do so much of the other things that you can do at Disney World (and only at Disney world) That I would want at least a few extra days. I also like water parks, I would probably spend a day each at just the water parks at Disney World. I think a week is reasonable. 10 days is pushing it, but I could see how you'd want to do that.
  9. I feel like I've been lucky that I haven't seen parks running trains at less than capacity. (my only experience with SFMM was very pleasant but that was 2001 and has no bearing on reality today..)
  10. I live in Orem and my parents live in Henderson. Pretty excited to see this open so I can go to both parks this summer.
  11. I'll admit that I haven't gone to that many theme parks recently (though that is going to be changing this year.) Does food options really matter that much at theme parks? Seems like most of the complaints have been about the food. Which is one of the last things I think about when going to a park. Maybe I should care more about it? I tend to err on cheaper options (whether that is leaving the park to eat or choosing cheap options anyways..) I feel like it is no excuse not to have "decent" food at a park. That being said, my wife says Six Flags Discovery Kingdom is her absolute favorite place in the world (and judging from this thread is one of the "better" Six Flags parks.)
  12. I haven't gone in many years, but plan to again soon, so this list is completely outdated. 1. California Adventure - I think this is the best part of Disneyland. 2. Knott's 3. Magic Mountain. - it really has the best coasters of these parks. 4. Universal Studios - Jurrassic Park is one of my favorite rides ever. 5. Disneyland
  13. I like how they have a million different popcorn flavors. My wife said "you don't need any other kind of snack food." I agree.
  14. I think the park might be hesitant to have two Star Wars 3D experiences right next to each other. If not Star Wars, surely something else Disney bought up the past few years.
  15. I hope more parks run some of the rides backwards. I know a lot of people are groaning at the trend lately to run "the rides backwards" but it seems pretty intriguing to me.
  16. I did when I was a kid. I thought it was the coolest thing I did at Disney Land. I remember jumping back at some of the 3D special effects at the time. But I imagine that if I watched it now, it would ruin the good memories I do have of it. Why not do a Star Wars 3D show instead?
  17. This year I plan to go to Adventuredome in Vegas and Atlantis in the Bahamas.
  18. I enjoyed reading this thread. Getting out of one hobby (Magic the gathering) and into another (traveling) has been a tough pill for me to swallow. Budgets are tough to start but so incredibly beneficial.
  19. Pretty excited. This will be the first year I get a season pass to Lagoon. Out of all the places to go for fun, Lagoon has the best water park (it actually has a pool you can swim around in that isn't a giant over crowded wave pool.) And it is open on Sundays (pretty much what tipped it for me.) Even though I live a ways away, I know I'll go at least 6 or 7 times this season. Seems like there is never really a long wait for anything at Lagoon. Wicked has a single rider line (which seems to be always nearly a walk on) only ride that I see ever have super long lines are Rattlesnake Rapids (which usually goes pretty quick anyways.)
  20. I think it is a toss up between Indy and Pirates. Probably lean towards Pirates because I love that ride. I really like BTTF as well. Star Tours is up there for me.
  21. Which comes first the theme for a ride or the ride itself? This is more geared toward I guess inception of the ride rather than "we have this coaster but the license expired." kind of thing. On a similar note, how does a park with non-heavy licensed theming decide on what to theme and how does that process go along?
  22. I like the graffiti Idea I think that would be cool. though I don't think you can open that up to guests because of all the of the vulgar symbols one would use would outweigh the benefits.
  23. In their natural habitat, Ninjas have a very distinct mating call.
  24. It is unfortunate that Fuji-Q is such a terrible experience. Since it has a few really cool coasters (Dodonpa and Takabisha are two that I would want to ride on.) But it seems going out of my way when there are plenty of other cool things to do in Japan seems like too much of a headache.
  25. The Spider at Lagoon "spits" on you. Clearly venom and is sorta menacing looking.
