Trips for 2015
boldikus replied to Ozcoasterbabe's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I almost pulled the trigger on the Mini East Coast trip this year so making it a point to get on one of these trips in 2015. Not only do you guys seem to put on awesome trips, you all seem like such a fun bunch! Stoked to see what you guys come up with for next year! -

I think I'm gonna do Comet or SDL first and then hit Skyrush for my 50th. Would it be lame to do a "50th" sign and get a photo like so many of you do if its only my 50th? LOL I feel like such a rookie. Then I guess we could work our way counterclockwise from there. I know about the insane lines for Fahrenheit so if I have to wait for so be it. The three Intamins and Great Bear are my must dos but Lightning Run, SDL, Trailblazer look like they could be fun. And Comet just to ride an old ass woodie since between Wild One (SFA, mindblowing) and Thunderhawk (Dorney, awful) I've gotten a few of those in this season. If I have time I'll attempt Wild Cat but not exactly looking forward to it based on what others have said here. Looking forward to seeing how this day shakes out, really really excited for this visit. edit: and while its still 10 days away, weather looks like it could be perfect (albeit a bit chilly!). -

LOL the Falcon ride is just like the Condor which we used to have @ Morey's, a good flat but I'm not itching to get on that. Its being replaced by Flying Scooters next year which I can't wait for! After doing Dorney, Seems Hershey's flat selection is a little... flat. Stoked they have some flyers tho! I guess I'm more curious in the order to hit the coasters so I can get them all in within 5 hours. The park map confuses me a bit and I know I'm being ultra nerdy but want to make Skyrush the 2nd coaster I hit, but Id like to get everything else in save maybe for the Wild Mouse, and I'm not exactly dying to ride the boomerang either. -
So what were the best new coasters of 2014?
boldikus replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
While I got a ton of new credits this year, I haven't ridden any of these new ones. I had high hopes for getting up to Coney to ride Thunderbolt but then the so-so reviews came in and it became less of a priority - tho I have close friends in Brooklyn so maybe in 2015. Based on the POV's the ones that look the most appealing to me are Helix, Banshee and Medusa. I think we'll be getting something similar to Medusa w/ Wicked Cyclone, so that's something to get excited about. Goliath I'm sure is great but as noted by many it seems very short. El Loco sure looks like a fun little thing, I wish Morey's would get something like that. -

^ I was thinking maybe I should hit Comet then Skyrush as they are on top of each other. Besides Bizarro (SFNE) and I305, Skyrush is in my top 3 bucket list coasters and between the fact that its an Intamin airtime machine and its a ride of such conflicting opinions, I really want to make it my 50th. Based on what Ive read I plan to sit closer to the front, on a non-wing seat, and avoid the whole hands up thing. At least for my first ride, lol. -

So looks like our trip for next Friday is panning out nicely, granted the weather cooperates. Looks like we are stopping in Lancaster in the afternoon then heading to Hershey for HPITD. So, besides the coasters, and the Whip, what other flats are must check outs? Also, since we only have 5 hours, do you guys think I should follow a specific order of attack to get all the coasters in? Would it mean skipping the flats entirely? I know to hit up Fahrenheit first, and I plan to hit up Skyrush right after as it will be my #50th coaster. From there, what is the best order to make sure I get on everything? -

Shockwave--Six Flags Magic Mountain
boldikus replied to coasterboy76's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I remember riding Shockwave exactly one time, in the front row, with my mother, at SFGAdv sometime during its run there. I was probably about 12-13 yrs old and remember it being pretty awesome. -

^ I wish I knew that, I would have taken a hooky day today. re: them closing the rides early, while we couldn't see how long the queue for Zumanjaro was (it did have a 2 hour line when we went on around 7:30/8ish - tho with our FP we didnt wait), we could see when we were turned away from KK @ 11:40 there was a full station and people on the path leading up to the stairs, so it wasn't a big deal to us. The wait on our FP for KK all night was rather short, we didn't spend our time wisely and could have gotten on earlier if we tried, but we stupidly saved it for last. That's our fault, I wasn't pissed off at the park or anything. My bro-in-law really wanted to ride it, I could take or leave it so I didn't care so much, and seeing how many people were waiting, could totally understand why they turned us away. The only thing that bugged me is that we did have it reserved, so I kind of think that's not fair to be turned away. At least with Zum the FP told said "FULL" before we could even reserve it. Did either of these things didn't ruin my night? Absolutely not. Still got 3x on Toro, 1x each on Zumanjaro, Nitro, Bizarro, Batman, Sky Screamer, Superman and Runaway Train and time to stop for beers more than once, all within 5 and a half hours on a moderately busy Friday during Fright Fest. I can't be mad about the park closing off the line for their most popular ride a few minutes early.

As promised, a few photos. Last night was definitely a fun way to end the season. First stop of the night, station wait Station was rammed, as expected Just excuse your way to the magic seat, that no one seems to care about Bizarro was running really well. Stacking as usual but the ride was great. After we pulled in the train after us was stopped on the lift due to a guest with a cell phone out. Op made a big hoopla out of it which was nice. People were chanting "Asshole!" My shoes match the entrance portal Til next year SFGAdv! ;( A little Lysol and we'll have you as good as new Batgirl even had a cape on. Serious business Nitro is fantastic at night Batman is always awesome Some beers before our final ride on Superman.

We were there 6:30-11:45. No rain except for a tiny drizzle walking in the front gate, and while driving home. Awesome night, park was half crowded, we just got a gold pass cause f*ck it, its our last trip of the year most likely. We bounced around but - he got his first ride on Z:DOD (my fourth time now, first at night - crazy!!!) - 3 runs on El Toro (can I just brag and boast for a second about how this is the greatest roller coaster ever built and its in my home park and you have no idea how much I love this thing and love that it is there) - a spin on the Sky Screamer (his first, my first at night, such a great ride) - and a little B&M fest of Bizarro/Batman/Nitro/Superman, one time on each. Love Bizarro & Nitro night rides, Nitro is so freaking good in the back. That floater air on the drop!! Had train A, slight rattle but still a great ride. Bizarro ran really well tonight, all effects were on and it was totally smooth and hauling ass. Same with Batman. We tried for Ka @ 11:40 and then told us the line was closed. Went for Zum again on FP and said "FULL". Decided to throw in the towel and call it a night. Good times, scare zones were not that scary. I think we were only in the Main Street, Boardwalk, and Frontier scare zones. Dorneys were better a few weeks ago. Lighting, smoke etc was just better. The chainsaws tonight were a nice touch tho. I also liked all the music throughout the park. On both Bizarro and El Toro while waiting for the next train we got to watch the ops do a cleaning job on a few seats. I think Bro-in-law even got a pic. I do not envy that job. Bro got pics on his phone, I had no camera. I'll have him send them over and upload them tomorrow. Great last visit of the year. I'm really gonna miss El Toro this off season.

Yeah I have high hopes its gonna be dead, hoping to marathon Toro for a bit, rain or no rain. http://www.wunderground.com says 31% chance til 7, then 2% 7-9pm, then 20% chance after 9. Yoshi I don't know what you look like, so if you see me say hello. I'm sure I'll be over @ Nitro at some point too. I'll be w/ my bro-in-law who wants to get his first ride on Zumanjaro so if its running, we'll be over there too!
