  1. This sounds pretty cool, I've read some reviews of Blackout and other "extreme" haunts in the past but this sounds different and a lot more interesting. Don't know if I'll have a chance to make it down to Orlando to experience it or not but can't wait to hear more about it.
  2. Fair point, and that's pretty much the outcome I expected.
  3. No I honestly haven't been on a VR ride yet, this will probably be my first one when it opens. 10 to 20 minutes was just kind of an uneducated guess, 10 to 40 might be a problem, but again we'll see how it goes. In the past Seaworld has been pretty good with managing crowds on new attractions and having decent operations so I'm sure they will do everything they can to speed the process along. But with the OTSr's didn't Discovery Kingdom add VR to their SLC this year? I haven't heard any reviews from that but I can't imagine being able to see anything with those things around your head.
  4. That's pretty much how I feel, and honestly I can't remember the last time Kraken had a past maybe the the first ramp outside of the station, so an 10 minute wait turns into a 20 minute wait, no big deal. I'll give the park the benefit of the doubt to actually open the thing before labeling it a dumb failure. My biggest issue is that on a B&M coaster with the old school OTSR's you can't really move your head that much so take advantage of the VR environment as much as you could on something with a lap bar. I would have almost preferred VR on Manta since dispatches are already kinda slow because of the double station and there isn't really anything to see on that thing anyways. Flyers are already kind of a "gimmick" in themselves, why not add another.
  5. ^Yeah, I feel like Cobra's Curse and Mako went to the wrong parks in a way. Then again this wave rescue jet ski coaster might be a better addition to Seaworld in the future than the Mack spinner anyways.
  6. Yeah, I still do an eliminator pool every year with some friends (still alive, thank you Dolphins), and do a college football pick em pool for some money (nothing serious, $100 for the season), but yeah picking the NFL against the spread is just tough. I used to do a pool where we picked every game every week and the 10 people or so in the pool for a few years the best anyone ever did was about 58%, it's just hard. With that being said, one of these days I wanna play the Westgate Las Vegas Supercontest, I'd probably lose all of my $1500 entry fee but it would still be fun. The guy who won it last year (and won like $800,000) picked at like a 74% clip for the season which is just insane, but hey it takes a little luck to win big.
  7. This might be a dumb question but are the rides open during Knotts Scary Farm? At least the major coasters?
  8. ^Yeah, well San Antonio doesn't have Wild Arctic, so advantage Orlando................................(said no one ever).
  9. ^ I liked Buffalo against the spread this past weekend just because of the West Coast to East coast 1pm kickoff, those games are always weird, but didn't expect them to win. But yeah, betting on the NFL is tough, the odds makers are so good I don't know how they do it sometimes. Early in the season you might be able to steal a few from them but after about week 6 it's all over, they've figured out everyone.
  10. Was that dinosaur there before the storm or did he get blow over there? It's kinda of a random location him by himself next to the Boomerang.
  11. Yeah, SeaWorld is by far the easiest park to drop into for a couple hours. Easy to park, walk up, take a lap and grab a few rides, a snack and a beer, and be gone. Nothing against Disney or Universal's properties but SeaWorld is just really convenient. Also, the new bar and food festival they announced today look great. Probably going to renew my AP for 2017.
  12. My biggest issue with VR is that until the processing power increases, it really doesn't improve the experience. It makes it different, but not better when you are looking at N64 graphics *cough* Six Flags *cough* To me, a far bigger issue is that VR totally kills the loading times and turns a 15-20 min wait into an hour wait. I really hope the whole VR-on-coasters trend burns out quickly and doesn't spread to more parks. Kraken is an excellent old school B&M and doesn't need a gimmick like VR for people to ride it. I completely agree with this. I read somewhere that they were looking to somehow have the headsets mounted to the train to increase dispatch times, not sure if there is any truth in that but it will be interesting to see that as it seems like the next logical progression in the evolution of this whole VR coaster thing (that and better graphics and all).
  13. Also, not really related to this thread, but the NFL Thursday night games on Twitter are actually pretty cool. When I first heard NFL on Twitter, I thought what the heck that's going to be terrible, but it's actually pretty fun to watch the game and tweet along at the same time.
  14. I've found myself using Twitter quite a bit more than I used to over the last 3 or 4 months, not really sure why but it is growing on me. I used to not really "get it" and found nto very user friendly but I have been using it a lot more lately. I like being able to get content from the accounts I follow without having to scroll through all of my "friends" stuff to see it like you have to on Facebook.
  15. I had a buddy try it once, we lost him and like an hour later found him napping in some bushes backstage in Morocco. Some guys just can't handle Epcot.
  16. ^Yeah the one they have is, pretty dated and boring. Doesn't even have astronaut ice cream.
  17. *ANYTHING* would be an improvement. If they turned it into a quick service restaurant, that would still be a location I would probably frequent more than I do Stitch's Great Escape! Oh I'm not complaining at all, a permanent Stitch meet n greet or Buzz, Monsters Inc. whatever would be great! But yeah anything other than what it is now will be an improvement, quick serve, meet n greet, Intergalactic Frozen Space treat that greatly resembles a dole whip station, heck an American version of Tokyo's Stitch encounter would be pretty fun.
  18. I wonder what they will replace Stitch's Great Escape with............and it's a Meet n Greet.
  19. I'm kind of getting tired of Fantasy Football but that's an entirely different discussion for a later time and date. Maybe I'm just spoiled but in Jacksonville the owners really have made great strides in improving the "in game" experience so that's it's really enjoyable, better food (albeit still somewhat expensive but at least it's good!), better access, wifi, it's a pretty fun time. So saying the owners "don't care" probably isn't very true when it comes down to it.
  20. I completely agree, but I think we live in a different world now and will never see events like those again. Seems like 2010 was also round about when the Bill and Ted show became....... a bit less interesting, probably not a coincidence.
  21. Did you watch Hardknocks this year? After watching that I see why he's been a HC for 20 years with a 500 records, he's a pretty likable guy off the field who appears to do things the right way. But yeah. What a weird week, LA beats Seattle after getting blasted by SF last week. The Jags get blasted by San Diego after playing Green Bay tough, and Green Bay loses to a team with a QB they signed last week. Week 2 is the "don't overreact it's still early" week, by week 5 the usual suspects will be on top of their divisions again. "If New England beats Houston on Thursday with Jacoby Brisett as their starting QB I give up" -The rest of the NFL
  22. Yeah the lines looked intimidating but they probably do go by faster than they look but the front of the showcase was slammed, I don't remember that many booths in the front but it's been a few years since I've been. We were in the park from like 2-6:30 and hit the Showcase around 5 so there might have been a late afternoon rush coming in for the evening or something. We're definitely going to be back at some point and will hit the event earlier in the day, preferably without kids next time! I saw "The Chew" advertised quite a bit and to be honest I don't have a clue what the heck that is, is it some kinda TV show or something? Never heard of it, but whatever it is the area looked great!
  23. We hit the Food and Wine Fest on Saturday and I know it was a Saturday, and the first Saturday of the event but man it was crowded, like crowded to the point that we just kinda gave up and said we will try again sometime later this season. Every stand we came to had lines out of the of the extended ques into the pathways and the whole thing felt like a giant cluster. Again maybe it was just a late afternoon rush combined with the first Saturday but I hope the event hasn't reached the point where it's to popular for it's own good ya know. On the other hand Future World was a bit slow so we still had a pretty solid day. An the diver aqualock water tube thingy was operating in the Seas Pavillion which I haven't seen in years, so that was pretty cool.
  24. The first time I saw the concept art for this one I thought if there was ever a coaster that will not be nearly as cool as the concept looks it's going to be a Dueling Tilt coaster. Still a cool novelty but yeah kind of a normal looking ride.
