  1. ^ I thought it was a good POV, but I still think TPR's POV of Renegade is the best because it is butter smooth. Also, here's an interesting article I found on KSTP News about Valleyfair preparing for winter: http://kstp.com/news/stories/S3611578.shtml?cat=1
  2. Sounds like that explains what happened when I rode Steel Venom a few weeks ago. The train went up the back spike for the second time but the holding brake did not activate, and then when the train came back through the station the emergency brakes were activated and we came to a stop at the end of the launch section. It was an awkward situation, but they did give us a second ride to make up for it. If there's something they can do to help the holding brake situation this offseason, I hope they do it because I'd hate to see them go the Vertical Velocity route and forget about the brake.
  3. Granted, but that short stretch of track will include trim brakes that will always be turned on. I wish Opening Day 2015 would get here faster.
  4. I've only ridden on ride in it's debut season not at my home park: Goliath at SFGAm. Even though it's an awesome ride, it's pretty pathetic that it's the only one I can list .
  5. Valleyfair just posted a POV of Steel Venom on their YouTube channel. That's a first, as I've never seen an official park POV of any other ride there. I think it's a decent quality POV. One odd thing is that the holding brake is turned off for some reason. Now that they've posted this, I wonder if they'll post any other coaster POVs in the future.
  6. Darn it, I have to miss Opening Day again next year. The other thing that bothers me is why they wait until mid-May to open. If VF can stay open until early November, then they should at least be able to open in mid-April.
  7. They both have log flumes. Silverwood and Valleyfair?
  8. ^ A slingshot at Valleyfair would be great. I've always wanted to ride a slingshot but have never had the chance. They could fit one in perfectly in Wild Thing's turnaround where Skyscraper used to be. Cedar Point didn't announce their's until February last year, so it's certainly possible that VF could announce one in the coming months. Also, they must be relatively cheap if Carowinds is possibly getting one in the same year as a $30 million gigacoaster.
  9. Like others have said, I don't think stand-up coasters are necessarily a failure. They were just a fad that was relatively popular in the 90s, but that popularity has died off since then. I guess parks realized that stand-up coasters aren't that great, and that might have led to their downfall. I wouldn't mind seeing a brand-new stand-up coaster show up somewhere, but all things considered, I just don't see it happening.
  10. So, based on all the skiers I see here, It sounds like skiing would be a good offseason alternative to roller coasters, am I right? Does skiing have a lot of the same sensations as roller coasters? If so, I may just have to try it out this winter.
  11. ^ 1) Renegade - The best and most airtime at VF , plus it's out of control and intense. It's especially great when you sit in the last row. 2) Wild Thing - Once you get to the third hill, it's just a decent hyper, but the first drop and second hill are good enough that that part alone makes the ride my second favorite in the park. 3) Steel Venom - This is what I would call an all-around fun ride. It's thrilling and intense. Plus, the holding brake is a cool feature. 4) Spongebob Squarepants Rock Bottom Plunge (Nickelodeon Universe) - This ride is forceful and has a great first drop plus some good hangtime. I just wish it was a little longer. 5) High Roller - An old-school woodie that's trimmed to death, but it still manages to produce some decent airtime pops.
  12. Valleyfair doesn't really have any big rivals within the CF chain. The next closest CF park is Worlds of Fun, so maybe them?
  13. ^ I don't really think it means anything special either, but I just think it's a bit odd they used a coaster that isn't at the park because they could've easily done a sunset picture with a coaster like Wild Thing.
  14. The picture below is what VF just updated it's Facebook cover photo to. Does anyone know what coaster this is? Unless I've been living under a rock, this coaster is not at Valleyfair. If they put it there intentionally knowing it's not at the park, what could that mean?
  15. ^^ Nice little trip report. I've walked onto Wild Thing plenty of times, but I have never seen the station that empty before. I need to make sure I go on closing day next year (weather permitting) so I can get these walk-on waits for everything.
  16. Wild Adventures Announces New Ride and Two Concerts
  17. ^ Hopefully next year's Renegade crew allows unlimited rerides too. Then I could possibly hit over 100 laps next season. Also, does anyone happen to know the official date for Opening Day 2015?
  18. ^ They really let you go 17 times in a row? Darn, I wish I could have gone yesterday. Whenever I go, they only let you reride once, and then you have to walk around again. I too will miss Renegade's crew, they really were hilarious, especially towards the end of the season.
  19. I used to live in Central Florida for some time, so I'd obviously choose them. Too bad my interest in roller coasters started just before I moved away . I missed a lot of great coasters. I've got to get back down there sometime. Although, getting back to SoCal to visit SFMM and Knott's is still on my bucket list.
  20. Comet Express TOGO hypercoaster
  21. ...but the B&M version of Drachen Fire was actually rougher than it's Arrow counterpart, so they ended up scrapping Drachen Fire again a few years later. BGW replaced it with a...
  22. Granted, MiA gets a clone of Son of Beast. I wish I could go to a park in Florida this winter.
  23. Now that the offseason has officially arrived, it's time for me to lie in my bed and cry for the next six months. Just kidding, but I seriously don't know what I'm going to do with myself for the next six months. I'll probably go to Nickelodeon Universe once or twice, but besides that... ugh. I really need to pick up a new hobby .
  24. Granted, but the internet still gets the same amount of spamming. I wish today wasn't closing day for most parks.
  25. Renegade at Valleyfair last Sunday.
