Carnival Looping Coaster
chaos replied to K1ngdaKa88's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The whole thing fits on a trailer! Do they even have to dismantle it before transport? I can just imagine driving down the road seeing that dragged along behind a pickup. -
Thanks for the reply! I'm going as an enthusiast (who one day might seriously decide to jump into the amusement industry). My goals are to gain information about different companies and the overall industry, and to make good friends - whether they are in the industry or just fellow enthusiasts.

Any advice for an IAAPA first timer? Do's and don'ts? Lesser known booths to visit? What happens at education seminars? Are they worth it? Any tips are greatly appreciated.

Dollywood Discussion Thread

Rode Lightning Rod for the first time today (3 rides so far). It's running two train operation now. Can't comment on whether it was faster before. But I can say that there's little to no airtime going over the humps at the top, unless your sitting near the back on the second hump. The rest of the ride was just as good as everyone describes it. Also, after reading this thread, I decided to try the cinnamon bread for the first time. And I think I enjoyed that even more than Lightning Rod. -
This might just be the nostalgia talking, but I absolutely love that S-turn the way it is. It's like that brief calm before the ride gets crazy again. Ghostrider was my first "big kid" wooden rollercoaster, and I distinctly remember looking over the structure during that turn and thinking, "I can't believe I'm actually riding this right now."

Catchafire [K'NEX]
chaos replied to chaos's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
The end of the coaster's been newly remodeled, complete with a longer, Flashback-esque turn into the station and a new bookshelf or my school books. Also, now that I have a GoPro, I am finally able to strap my camera onto model coasters and take high(er) quality POV shots. -
Infinity [K'nex]

Well, after about a year of not being at my parents house, I finally went back and finished the thing. Then some friends came over and we had a little fun playing around and filming the rollercoaster. Sadly, it has now been dismantled because my parents moved. But enjoy the video! -
Having been to the Orlando Aquatica and the pre-transformation San Diego park, I think it looks pretty good. I'm especially happy that the park didn't hike up the prices to Orlando Aquatica levels. Like everyone's said already, the park's in desperate need of new rides, so I think next year will be the year when the new management can really shine. I can't count how many times I've been there playing RCT in my head looking at all the empty spaces I'd place new slides.

Alton Towers Discussion Thread
chaos replied to Ed's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I can't get over how awesome those trains look full of people. And I find the washing machine hilarious for some reason. I feel like if I went to Alton Towers right now I'd just get hypnotized watching the ride and how cool it looks as the cars go around the track. And then I finally realize, "Wait! I can actually ride this thing, too." -
I got to ride Transformers today as well. I don't know if it was just on my ride, but the first scene wasn't working properly. The video jumped and then froze, while the ride vehicle kept doing its thing. I'll have to admit I was a little disappointed at first to see how closely it resembled Spiderman (the ride cars were EXACTLY the same), but the screens seemed much more clear and the characters/action felt closer. So everything worked together pretty spectacularly and I really enjoyed myself.

B&M Wing Rider Coasters - Love or Hate?
chaos replied to jfruge's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Before I was about ten, I would beg my mom to take me to theme parks. And then I'd be too scared to ride any of the rides so I'd just watch them all day (and have a great time doing it). Gate Keeper is one of those rides that I would probably watch all day. It just makes me happy to look at. From my experience on Wild Eagle and X-Flight, these coasters are for the most part disappointing to ride. However, I do love the first drop/inversion on X-Flight, and the way it feels to enter banked turns without heartlining (especially on the outside). I feel it's a very worthwhile investment for a park. But maybe more like a Disney park that can make it look and feel awesome without many forces. -
SeaWorld Orlando (SWO) Discussion Thread

I don't need pretty lights or stories either . . . but I like them. Looking forward to riding this in a couple of days when the line isn't 4 hours long. -
So some of my college friends have this tradition called Tee-Hee Tuesday, in which they pretty much tickle a certain person to death all day long. Unfortunately, we are on vacation in Orlando and that person didn't come with us. I have been chosen as the new Tee-Hee Tuesday victim. I'm terrified of what's going to happen to me when the clock strikes midnight. I really need to find someplace to hide/run away to.

Video's done! -
I'm a big Tobymac fan. I'm also a big rollercoaster fan. I am currently going to college, and I built this in my room at my fraternity. Later I'll post nighttime pictures and a video.

The new ProSlide KrakenRACER!!!
chaos replied to crazywolf88's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That's awesome. I can totally picture some park like Aquatica getting something like that. But with clear tubes, you know, so you'd be dueling with everyone else. -
So, a couple summers ago, I built Infinity (first video). However, due to the passage of time, and people crashing our car into the structure, the coaster is no longer functional. That's why I'm working to change that, AND make the coaster way better. For my first update (second video), I put most of the wallpaper back up, and replaced the K'nex motors with a power drill.

I think this is already my all-time favorite Trip Report, and you haven't even gotten to the rollercoaster part yet! -

It's so close to being done, but I really want your input for the final bits of theming.
