  1. I hope this is the right thread to post this in. I just watched the video of KidTum's first sky coaster. I do have one question for you guys. I see your daughter is five or six. Does she travel with you guys all the time? And if so, how do you keep her entertained while visiting say six parks six days in a row? Some would say "Well, they are at amusement parks. It's a no brainer". However, children often become bored with even the most exciting surroundings. Again, I'm just curious. P.S. Through the related videos, I happened upon the video of KidTums giving a shout out to Big Mike on the Alpine Coaster. Cutest. Thing. Ever.
  2. Looks sick! I too would love to see a POV
  3. After the money they spent [apparently] retracking the thing recently, I wouldn't expect anything to happen to Mean Streak for at least several years. Lol. I'm sorry I meant should there be a highly doubtable RMC redo, it should be topper not I-Box. I personally want to see MS burned to the ground.
  4. I can't wait. That little bit of news is promising, to say the least. At this point, our three major needs are: 1. Water park expansion 2. Major steel coaster 3. Park redesign with better flow. The water park expansion is coming. It's crazy t think it hasn't happen yet. However, IMAX is gone and Hydro Blaster is rumored to be going. Clearly they are making room for the water park expansion. A major steel coaster. I believe we were meant to get a B&M invert in 2007. I think the Paramount buy out scaled our. Project back and we got a (wonderful) GCI instead. I'm the guy who goes to parks because I'm fascinated with the logistics of park operations. I'll sit and study traffic patterns, layouts etc. for hours. Valleyfair could use some work in this department and I think it will receive it in the next five to ten years.
  5. RMC could do wonders with this. Topper track is the way to go, at least that's my opinion. Goliath & Outlaw Run prove that wooden coasters can be like steel ones. It needs a new and imaginative layout like NTAG, but with topper track. Give it a slightly taller hill and you've got the tallest, fastest, longest drop, and steepest woodie. Even if this never happens. This ride NEEDS new life, when you demolish the Que you know the ride sucks. So why keep paying to keep it there? Something needs to be done, make it better or burn it! I agree with almost everything you said. If RMC does do a makeover I'd rather it be the I Box track. I think it should be topper track. If I-Box, then it's not a real wooden coaster anymore.
  6. Whatever will we discuss in five years?! New water park. Check. New coaster. Check. LOL
  7. More of a park fact pertaining to it's roller coasters: Gatekeeper was the first traditional chain lift coaster built at Cedar Point since Mantis in 1996.
  8. I have t be honest, before I found themeparkreview.com, I hated Robb's commentary. Now after spending time on this site, and reading his posts and watching more of his video, I look forward to them. I actually feel a little sad when there's a video without his commentary. Lol. Great job on the videos, Robb.
  9. Except Ouimet wasn't in charge until last year... Right, plus keep in mind we were in the midst of one of the worst economical climates in history, not to mention they were paying off the Paramount parks and adding to them. Maverick was already paid for by the time of the buy out. However, you saw some smaller investments in the CF parks (Windseekers, Prowler, Snoopy, etc.) However, the big investments were Paramount Park bound (Intimidators, Behemoth, Diamondback, Leviathon, etc. ) Ouimet has said it is important for Cedar Point to have a new roller coaster now and then. He's acknowledged that. I think we are one the right track to better balanced parks. That's a good thing.
  10. Can we agree that the wing rider concept has potential, it's just that B&M missed it. The thought of no track above or below you is kind of neat. How is the Intamin wing rider? I believe there is just one, correct me if I'm wrong.
  11. Ageed. You can't say Ouimet isn't concerned about thrill rides. Year #1- Gatekeeper. Regardless of thrill value. A $20m+, 4,000ft+ B&M is for thrill seekers more than anyone else. Let's not forget about CGA's GCI, either. Year #2-Banshee. See Gatekeeper comments Beyond that, Carowinds is rumored to have a giga coming. I don't think Ouimet has forgot about the thrill seekers, they just may not be his biggest priority. Yet!
  12. So my theory on a flume is simple. It's an amusement park staple. You have the three big water rides, right? Shoot the Chutes (The Wave) River Rapids (Thunder Canyon) Log Flume We don't have a log flume. We saw CP close White Water Landing for Maverick and then build Shoot the Rapids a few years later. Perhaps we will see them replace ours as well. Just some added optimism. Like I stated earlier in the thread, ROUTE 76 looks to be being built with another path being built to loop back towards the train depot. I think we will see more flats moved into the amphitheater area. That could open up a slew of different options. I'm totally in love with a Floorless coaster. That'd be mint.
  13. I was doing some messing around in an app for another thread and thought I would show what I dreamt.
  14. I did some quick art for a Floorless layout in place of Cork Screw, the Ferris Wheel and the Wave. This would replace CS and THE WAVE and FW could go in place of amphitheater. THIS IS JUST THINKING AND I SPENT LESS THAN A MINUTE ON THIS. NO BASHING, PLEASE.
  15. That's a great idea. Hadn't thought of that, but the closest Floorless is actually Dorney or KD. It would certainly go over well with the GP. Great idea! ^ I just don't understand WHY you think there is room between the woodies. I don't see it.
  16. Fixed. Lol. Have the Intamin woodies had any significant downtime issues? Not trying to be funny, asking a serious question.
  17. While I don't disagree with the wing coaster thing, why would that be a bad thing? There are a ton of things that could be happening at VF in the next five years. Did they relocate Scrambler so they could relocate Enterprise to that location so they can put: A. new coaster, flume B: Ferris wheel, THE WAVE (to add to the room created for a CS replacement) there once amphitheater goes. I'm really curious to see what happens in the back. A soak city expansion is coming sooner than later. I really don't know if Excalibur will be spared. Should be interesting!
  18. You won't find somebody who enjoys speculating the future of Valleyfair than me, but I don't think we can accurately discuss the location of the next coaster until the Soak City expansion is done. We'll see what kind of changes come to the rear end of the park and then we can start guessing. Before we see Corkscrew replaced, we need to see a new log flume. I don't think they'll remove THE WAVE and leave us with just one water ride. Once THE WAVE goes, that opens up a decent plot of land. Maybe a B&M dive machine over the lake.
  19. Going off what I've ridden: Cedar Fair: Renegade Six Flags: Raging Bull Herschend: Thunderhead Universal: Hulk Disney: Thunder Mountain (MK)
  20. I had a dream a few weeks back. They tore down Mean Streak and replaced it with a record breaking GCI. It was the tallest, longest wooden roller coaster in the world. It was an out and back that went basically started near the current MS station, and wrapped around to the go-kart track the turn around was a 180° overbank. Thought it was pretty neat.
  21. Depends on my work schedule and wher I have to travel to, but for sure: ValleyFair SIx Flags Great America Nick Universe Possibly doing a trip in July to: Cedar Point Waldemeer Kennywood Dorney Will try to squeeze in a visit while traveling for work BGT Fun Spot Adventuredome Kings Island SFFT
  22. I picked MiA simply because of a Shivering Timbers. I've visited neither park, so take my opinion for what you will.
  23. Why would a park like Cedar Point get a Base Frame Coaster when they could get a MACK Park Model? I guess because they work with Zamperla more than Mack. I thought about that after I posted.... On second thought maybe a Gerstlauer. Like Spinning Dragons at WOF. I wouldn't say that, considering Pipe Scream is the First New Ride from Zamplerla since Camp Snoopy was built in 1999. Cedar Fair also has 4 MACK Wild Mouse Coasters in the Chain, plus the New for 2013 Coast Rider at Knott's. Manufacturers are usually selected based on the Ride Experience they want to Provide and the Cost of that Ride and associated Maintenance Costs. There may not be new Zamperla flats at CP, but chain wide there is a lot of business going down between them. I can think of four Mack wild mouses in the chain INCLUDING the one at Knotts. Keep in mind, CF is only responsible for one of them. However, I do concede to the fact that a MACK wild mouse is much more plausible. I didn't put much thought into my initial response. Well played, sir. Well played!
