  1. It is believed to be H&S' decision to close the park while the investigation is going on which is seemingly going to include all other coasters at Alton Towers should this be a technical fault. H&S will have to check all the coasters are being run as they should be and all regulations are being followed. Although it may not seem totally necessary it is the right thing to do in my opinion.
  2. SRQ's are almost always open, the one on the Smiler is ALWAYS open
  3. My usual route around Alton Towers is to hit Nemesis and Air first (Nemesis will be open for Early Ride Time from 9-10, so do it a few times in this period before Air and the rest of the park open), I normally then take a walk through the gardens (under the Skyride station) to get to Rita and 13 before they get a decently long wait time (especially Rita). By this time a few of the rides may have queues, this is the perfect time to get a ride on Hex, and check out some of the smaller rides while you are there. After that I would get a ride on Oblivion as there is never really a queue for it on weekdays and possibly the Smiler if the Single Rider Queue is reasonably quiet. From then on it depends how the queues build up throughout the rest of the day. If you need somewhere to eat, I would say get something from Pizza and Pasta Buffet just opposite the Runaway Mine Train. Hope this helps and have a good time
  4. RMC have 2 styles of track, I-Box (all steel) and Topper (what you described for Outlaw Run) I-Box: Topper: (images from RMC website) edit: beaten to it.
  5. Nemesis Love the way this looks!
  6. I believe that Dinoconda has the new trains, Eejanaika has the old ones
  7. Outlaw Run, 500 Big Grizzly Mountain, 200 Phoenix, 300 Katun, 200 Cheetah Hunt, 200 Altogether - 1400
  8. I may just have to put Oakwood in here, I have never seen a park operate it's coasters so badly on a peak day! Their Eurofighter, Speed, was on a 1 car service, with a wait time of about 3 hours! (no exaggeration here…and before you think "Well, the others might not be operational" They are!)
  9. Rita at Alton Towers, gets a lot of undeserved hate
  10. I understand the frustration of not having a game that focusses on being realistic. I also think this looks like a lot of fun… With regards to the realism of the modern theme park games, there is really only RCT and NoLimits to choose from, and neither of them (well, NoLimits gets close…) get to the point of realism that is wanted in the enthusiast community. RCT has the part where you run the park, but the rides lack in realism whereas NoLimits has incredibly realistic rides… I think this is what makes it frustrating to have nothing that combines both of these things in a game, I know ThemeParkStudio came close, but it isn't anything like people thought it would be like meaning that it failed in the eyes of a lot of people to do what was wanted from it. Apart from this promising progress that ThemeParkStudio originally made, there has really been nothing else that caters for the people who seek realism in theme park games and enjoy managing a park in a realistic manor. In the end, RCT and NoLimits do the jobs of realism perfectly, and I am sure that when a realism-focussed theme park game is released, it will be worth the wait This game I like the look of, it doesn't seem too serious…and it's basically a game dedicated to doing what everyone has done at some point in RCT…smashed people up using a coaster
  11. 13 at Alton Towers, it is just unreal how smooth it is!
  12. I heard a couple yesterday at Oakwood (these were all the same people): *referring to my restraint being loose on Megafobia* why the f*ck are you doing that! your going to die! *referring to where I was sitting on Megafobia later in the day* The back seats dangerous! you know that it came completely off and killed 15 people! it's those rare moments when you ACTUALLY facepalm
  13. ^was thinking that, as well as the fact that Merlin parks have featured on the show before
  14. Hi, if you haven't seen one of my very few posts here, I'm Jack, don't really know why I use this name tbh, but I do, and I hope you enjoy my first TR here! We arrived at the park around 9, to a massive surprise…IT WAS PACKED! I had only ever seen the park this busy at fireworks! So after getting in the park and walking past the ERT barriers, we made our way to Shark-bait Reef. I do like it, although the one tank of sharks is shark less atm. We then walked up Katanga and got onto RMT…this was a brilliant move as on one circuit we went 3 times, and didn't have to leave our seats for a second ride! (it got busy after this so had to leave the ride, still awesome, felt like our own ERT ) After RMT, we made out way to Duel. Actually quite a good ride, however I would prefer it to go back to being just a haunted house I know it's not the best score, but I got 23400, the best out of all of us Then came Forbidden Valley and the best ride at Towers and the UK…NEMESIS! it was walk on when we got to it, which was awesome…straight on back row, which is my personal favourite place to sit (dat force <3). As you can probably tell, It was my favourite ride of the day Next came Air, as always it was a fun ride…and the concrete tunnel now has slight theming…A BLUE LIGHT! Next (as Skyride was down) we took a walk through the AMAZING ( ) walkthrough that is Haunted Hollow to get to Mutiny Bay…purely for Marauders Mayhem…which we all love…but this was not the most stupid ride that we had on it…(we also did Heave Ho…which had the worlds grumpiest op! xD) Next came the worst nightmare of one of us who had to face his fears next, we headed to Dark Forest for Rita and 13, all of us absolutely love both of these coasters (not sure about him though ). There isn't much else to say about what else we did here tbh, we just rode them and left the area I then suggested that we met up with me family so I could grab a drink (by this point I was absolutely gasping and had no money on me to buy a drink) only to find that they were stuck on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, seems that one of the lifts broke and don't know much else After this, we made our way to Hex, this was interesting for one of us, as he had been reading into quite a few ghost stories at Towers, and therefore was incredibly scared, we probably didn't help by breathing down his neck We had a quick look around the towers quickly, it is an amazing place! Then came X-Sector, we were prepared to miss the Smiler and honestly, I wouldn't have cared that much if we did, we came back to it later…everyone got something from Fried Chicken to eat, while I single ride-erd Oblivion which as awesome as ever! (cause I had no money on me ) So far it was an amazing day (one of the best trips to Towers I have had, in fact!) and it was only going to get funnier!, first, we went back to Marauders, and after this ride, we all felt genuinely sick! (although it was a lot of fun! ) Then we took a look around Cbeebies, MASSIVE improvement to the farmyard, very well made and well themed! I then spotted that the park keepers were going past and pointed them out to callam…who joined in the dancing…he actually fits in with the park keepers very well As the day was boiling hot, we decided to do all the wet rides in a row…so we started with the rapids, seemed to have a long queue but it moved in no time! we were on a full raft, but only got literal droplets of water on us (the guys who weren't with us got soaked though ). Next was the Flume, and I drew the short straw and was made to sit at the front…got absolutely soaked! (still not as bad as Loggers at Thorpe ) That wasn't the end of it though, we then decided it would be a BRILLIANT idea to do Battle Galleons…twice…have a guess in how that ended? not much happened after that, although we did the smiler…on train 3…back row…ouch After that, we met up with the others and made our way out. All in all it was a brilliant day, absolutely loved it! was definitely my favourite trip to Towers so far. Hello Towers Street! Hello sharks! One of my favourite themed rides on park! Some target practice Wanted to do it, but didn't get a chance to Still the king! I don't understand what this coke bottle is trying to say… Us 4 on 13! Brilliant family coaster! why is it only the great rides that go down? WHY?! WHY IS IT NOT OPEN?! Very atmospheric place to be! Headache. Always. Goodbye Towers, look forward to next time
  15. Hey! that book goes hand in hand with this!
  16. 1: Drayton Manor - 45 mins 2: Alton Towers - 1 hour 30 mins 3: Thorpe Park - 2 hours
  17. Mine is pretty much guaranteed to be Nemesis, if not, it will be Air
  18. Aren't YouTube and Google+ the same things now? Anyway, I really only use YouTube tbh
  19. Will be doing most the british woodies next year, but my current favourites: Nemesis The Smiler (if it's front seat at night, otherwise, it's a bit meh ) SAW - The Ride Air also deserves a mention, just a unique ride Colossus as well, bit of a soft spot for it tbh I know that there are only two parks on the list, but I will probably have a few new favourites next year
  20. Every ride op ever on the RMT at Alton Towers, always very enthusiastic, and I have never heard the same funny announcement twice.
  21. Love these on wing riders, especially front row where you feel like you are just hanging there
