  1. As a ride op at Valleyfair, getting people to throw away the disposable cups was incredibly annoying as they couldn't be taken past the turnstiles. And as someone who has cleaned up many a garbage bag full of liquid, this just seems like a big mess, especially on busy days at the turnstiles--because someone has to go get those bags. Again, there's the environmental factor and I have no idea what the recycling policies are at Kings Island so they must know what they're doing. But the cups do seem like a good idea on paper instead of the bottles for the passholders. I wonder if it would be the same for the single day bottles or not. In any case, I'm interested in hearing what the KI staff have to say on this topic.
  2. Because compared to the other two Dive Coasters in the US, Valravn kinda sucks. My main complaint about Valravn are the restraints. The restraints kill any chance for you to get the really awesome airtime that dive coasters are known for. The only redeeming factor for Valravn is the views from the top of the ride. Other than that it is a pretty forgettable, and meh coaster. I'll add the Carowinds Fury v Intimidator aspect here. The main vertical drop is nothing unique--especially to CP. Home to steep drops on Dragster, MF, and Maverick (beyond vertical). People whined about how Fury seemed too similar to Intimidator and now Fury just completely blows Intimidator away. Many recommend riding Intimidator before Fury because of this reason. Intimidator still gets riders, but not as many as it used to. There's no denying the GP appears to love this ride and it is a people-eater. It will be interesting to see its ridership numbers and queue wait times in future years, especially after RMC Streak opens.
  3. The drift racers intrigues me in terms of its capacity levels. 2 people/vehicle in a race against another 2 people/vehicle. And just how many will be in this "race?" They also can't have a train on the boom coaster because they would lose much of the shock factor of the "jumps." I'm thinking 4 across, two rows, back row elevated at most. But yes, it does sound similar to the cantilevered concept.
  4. It always astounds me to see how simply rapids are created on river rapids rides. Has Knotts ever used theirs for Scary Farm maze? I think I heard tale of at least one Six Flags doing this.
  5. By energy recovery system, do you mean the extensive periods of downtime? Or something out of Back to the Future Part II?
  6. Those so-called "problems" with the renderings are just extreme hand/head choppers. Always makes the ride more fun! I seriously doubt that the ride will actually Swarm the riders. A train load of Swarm'd riders.
  7. Summer! Why can't it open in March? My 100th credit will be at one of the Fun Spots and I don't want it to be that mouse or a kiddy coaster at either location. At least I'll be able to see construction.
  8. Of the 5 I knew at least one position for, I'd have to say Valleyfair's Power Tower was my easy favorite. Tallest attraction in the park, and it allowed me to get creative with my spieling. Usually bad puns, or sayings to freak the riders out, such as a fake countdown. And don't get me started on the rainy day parties in the control booth. That old bridge to get to the ride was always fun. Thank God that mirrors were added this year so we don't ruin our backs staring up into the sun. Though working at night this year with various light sources was annoying. Was I supposed to be directing traffic with those glow cones, or signalling that the ride was ready to be dispatched?
  9. ^I don't know if you are referring to Renegade's 2016 season, or in general. Because Renegade's crew had a down year in 2016. A lot more stacking, and stacking for longer periods of time. It's been a while since I've been to WoF, but the Prowler crew was good that day.
  10. Expedition Everest Yeti: winner of the Mannequin challenge since 2006
  11. It's something like $10 extra to upgrade it to be good for both parks. Definitely worth it!
  12. Which is ironic considering ABC Family/Freeform is a subsidiary of Disney... And Harry Potter is produced by Warner Bros. It just so happens that Disney has the television rights contract to those movies while Universal has the park rights. But the irony with the Marvel contracts is not lost on me.
  13. If I get a one day fun spot pass, would it work for both locations, or just one?
  14. With Pandora set to open in summer 2017, what are the chances of a soft opening in early March?
  15. Bit of trip planning: how busy does it get during the Mardi Gras event?
  16. Or maybe the cam's at that angle to show the boat. Because you know Tony would do that.
  17. If it makes you feel any better, the concepts sounded like it would be a love child of Blue Fire & Cobra's Curse. As long as it's not one of the new ones that Mack showed off at IAAPA this year, I'm happy.
  18. Most Likely: WoF or SFGAm (can't afford both) 1+Orlando parks (I go to college in Tampa, but lack a car) BGT Valleyfair (Home park, possible place of employment) Nickelodeon Universe @ MoA Mt. Olympus (I have a timeshare attached to the park and it's only a couple hours from home) Hopefully: Carowinds on my drive to college
  19. ^Well, there's no train in any of the concept art on the Carowinds website, so my guess is that there will be no train at all. In all seriousness, I believe that it already has the newer style Vekoma train. If anything, a repaint to go along with the usual offseason maintenance.
  20. *Aggressively waits for more info from the RMC booth* Anyone else think that Six Flags should have Premier on speed-dial for lift chains? I hope that SBF/Visa waverider will be available in larger capacities/elevations for larger parks. It looks like a very fun ride that the Adult GP will very easily gloss over at that size--leaving it for the kiddos. And now Mack has a compact shuttle coaster. Countdown until Six Flags buys them in bulk along with the Skyline Attractions Skywarp (if only for those without the Larson model). Speaking of the Skywarp, I know the Larson SuperLoops have terrible elbow/leg room so I wonder how the Skywarp will compare. Same with the double Immelmans. The load/unload procedure also intrigues me here--especially as a former ride op. Anyone else think that the American Flag'd PTC train resembled (slightly) GCI's Millennium Flyers?
  21. The brokenness can be explained by use. Presumably, the glasses are not fully inspected before/after the sanitization. Before the ride, the glasses could be grabbed hastily and at the end of the ride, dumped into a large bucket with as much care. I can't say much to the quality of the glasses, but they may break easily. What are the glasses' life expectancy? And there are always those that generally misuse the glasses.
  22. Where's the fun in that? Besides, did you honestly expect ImNotOneOfYou to respond with anything less?
  23. ^Agreed. How does one change one of those cans????
