  1. It's most likely budget reasons. If I remember correctly, the reason Gwazi's still SBNO is due to budgetary reasons. I blame Blackfish. As for Skyride/Flume, both are older rides and parts are unfortunately harder to come by. Expect some downtime on Cobra's Curse, even if just a few hours/minutes. There were a couple times yesterday when I saw loaded trains sitting on the second lift for a few seconds waiting for something to happen. On a scale of reliability (from what I heard talking to ride ops), it's about halfway between Cedar Point and Lightning Rod.
  2. Yes, please complain about how a highly complex piece of machinery is not operating due to safety reasons--Especially to the ride operators.
  3. Just got back from a day at the park. I plan to post a full trip report in a couple days/as soon as I finish all my schoolwork . But here's a couple thoughts from the day: -I'm glad I refrained from putting Kumba in the most disappointing coasters thread. My previous ride was just the coaster on a bad day. -Montu is still my favorite B&M invert. -Falcon's Fury/Bacon Pretzel Fury= -Captured the elusive Cobra's Curse credit! -Sky Ride is undergoing scheduled maintenance -The only credit from the park I still need, the Mack wild mouse was closed. -I saw an empty train on Kumba's MCBR while on Falcon's Fury. But when I went over there immediately after FF, it was up to a 40 min. wait. What the was going on with it?
  4. All those people thinking RMC Hurler could be 150+ tall, while I'm no physics/engineering expert, it might make more sense in that case to take a wrecking ball to the entire track and build from the ground up. So I agree with Bill in the Storm Chaser comparisons. And it's yet another reason I need to make use of the timeshare across from BGW and make a trip out of that and KD.
  5. Bill, factor the metal detectors at Rockit, Hulk, and Dragon Challenge into your decision-making. If you do hit Universal--The Warm/Hot Butterbeer's the best.
  6. Fresh off the line. If you notice, there are 6 seats per row on this version, where every other version has 5. Knott's, for whatever reason, wanted more capacity, and it was designed to fit on Windseeker's old anchor bolts as well. It's not only new, but custom. Can't wait to ride... I LOVED Samurai at Lagoon.
  7. Yep. I imagine it will be completely assembled in the next 2-3 days, and we could possibly see testing soon. Does anybody know how long it takes to test new flat rides before opening? Do they need as many runs as new roller coasters do? I'd love to see this open sometime during the Festival! Last year, I had to cycle each tower of Valleyfair's 16 year old S&S Tower 50 times for pre-season testing. I'm sure the process is around that much, if not more for a new ride. Is Sol Spin a relocated/refurbished Top Scan, or fresh off the assembly line?
  8. If LR manages to stay open to closing...
  9. Looking at a satellite map, Sky Cabin and Boomerang are next to each other, so I do feel that Sky Cabin will be getting removed as well If SkyCabin is removed, they'd better relocate the K!
  10. I'm sure it was proposed at some point, but let's be honest: no park could contain all the awesomeness that it would be.
  11. Raptors are also 1/2 capacity as T-Rex--Not a good idea for a major new coaster at a major SoCal amusement park--especially during Knott's Scary Farm. Raptors were designed for smaller parks. I see MiA getting a B&M Giga before KBF gets an RMC Raptor. The Boomerang leaving has a capacity of 760/hr...clearly capacity is not a priority. Removing a 30-year old, low-capacity shuttle coaster for (potentially) a B&M with a theoretical capacity of 1500 riders per hour. Doubling Capacity.
  13. As I just recently learned with Fun Spot Orlando's White Lightning, it is never to underestimate a GCI's Wildness factor. MT will be an amazing coaster so I only have 2 questions: -What's in the Shed? -How will it compare to Beast--especially at night?
  14. Ziz? Supposedly the name of the next coaster that Canada's Wonderland will receive. According to some legends, there's Behemoth--guardian of the Earth, Leviathan--guardian of the sea, and Ziz--guardian of the air. Behemoth and Leviathan already exist, Ziz is presumably next up. But enough with CW, back to Knotts!
  15. While I don't take Screamscape as Gospel, I guess we know why now the event was switched to Magic Mountain. Like with RMC Mean Streak, I'm team KBF2018
  16. All these construction pictures and no one's showing the top of Drop Line. Has it been topped off yet?
  17. Odds are that it will be built over everything and then people will complain that it's an eyesore. Can anyone tell me if Grona Lund has the same problem?
  18. Why April? Knotts has been rumored for a hyper/giga for a while now and an early closure such as this could give the park enough time to have it up and running by Summer 2018. If this does happen, 2018 will be a big year for Cedar Fair with 2 RMC conversions, a B&M Mega coaster, and whatever else is planned for everyone else.
  19. It's right here. It's $55.95 and includes everything but the Sky Coasters (yes, including Go Karts). I highly recommend it but I also sip the Fun Spot Kool Aid. While the Kool-Aid is damn good and about to be better when Mine Blower opens, the ticket Bill's looking at is the "either park + meal/souvenir drink cup" combo. The park-hopper is closer to $60 and is NOT available online. The park hopper + Skycoaster ticket I purchased was about $87.
  20. Does the Hoop Dee Doo Revue cast meet and greet after the shows? Do you honestly expect that kind of thinking from the parks that has metal detectors for several rides?
  21. I doubt they'd get rid of it, but it does need some work.
  22. Hades360/everything at Mt. Olympus. Hades and Cyclops both have amazing layouts (highly recommend backseat on Cyclops), but it was all ruined by poor maintenance. Zeus had a decent setting until all the trees surrounding it were destroyed for parking lot that is seemingly never used. The Hades-->H360 retracking/timberliner helped, but the park spent their turd polishing budget on hotels.
  23. While I'm not all that familiar with Boomerang/coaster season testing procedures, it could have just been a planned test as these things tend to happen on Boomerangs. From Carowinds Webcam
  24. So I visited both Fun Spots on Wednesday and thought I'd do a quick photo trip report. Kissimmee: A fun little park that will benefit greatly from the addition of Mine Blower. Scorecard: Chaos Track x2 Vortex Track x2 Skycoaster x1 HOLY SH!T that was awesome. Surf's Up x1--Fun stand-up take on the Disk'o idea that works better than stand up coasters. Rockstar Energy Coaster x2 It's a spinning mouse, nothing I haven't done before, but credit #96 Paratrooper x1 Kiddie Coaster x1 (5 laps) Credit #97 Headrush 360 x2 Best flat ride at either park. Tilt-a-whirl x1 Crazy Couch x1 I was surprised at the short cycle this thing had--especially in comparison to all other attractions The Flyers were down, but they were Larson, so no big loss unless they were snappable. Orlando: A solid 1-2 punch with the coasters paired with a couple good flats and go-karts Scorecard: Freedom Flyer Regular x2 Credit #98 Freedom Flyer VR x1 Better without VR, but still a fun experience Space Invader x1 Love S&S Swings Rip Curl x1 Paratrooper x1 Miles better than the Kissimmee version, wasn't expecting the backwards section Enterprise x1 My first Schwartzkopf Enterprise was a fun experience until the Ride Op unloaded the car in front of mine, and rotated to another attraction, leaving me and my traveling companion stuck in our cars on the backside of the attraction for 10 minutes, trying to signal for help. Sea Serpent x1 (4 laps) Credit whoring leads to credit #99 Gator Spot x1 The 4 go-kart tracks x1 each Ferris Wheel x1 got some good pictures on it White Lightning x8-10 Deceptive in appearance, but a balls to the wall experience from lift to brakes. Also, CREDIT #100 It's upsetting that more people don't know about these parks. They're awesome and have some great growth potential. But I'm thankful that everything was either a walk-on or a single-cycle wait. I'm upset that neither location had a designated gift shop, so I couldn't acquire my fun spot hat Overall Rating: 7/10 Orlando overview taken from Congo River mini-golf. Thanks for the tip, Bill! Mine Blower rising. Kissimmee's S&S Swing awaiting reconstruction. OH SH!T I'm roadkill now. Psyke! Lift/drop construction Say Hello to Harvey. And his friends at Fun Spot's Gator Spot I Tawt I taw a putty tat! Bouya Pretty birdies A Sign of Greatness! Credit #100 Byotch! Universal and their Non-Dueling Dragons God help us, we're in the hands of engineers. Don't worry, be happy. Swoosh! Nyoom! Fly For Freedom! Hairtime! The Blur means it's fun! Brake Run upskirt shot for those who enjoy that sort of thing. I"m standing directly under the track without having to worry about anything hitting me in the face. Universal: here's the part where you take notes. Shiny. Deep fried Reese's. AKA: Diabeetus. And a sunset shot from the Coke store at Disney Springs to close out the trip. P.S. I hate Beverly.
