  1. This feels like something I'd read in a Six Flags TR and never in a trillion years did I think that I'd read it in a Dollywood TR. As a ride operator, anyone could need help with the restraint for whatever reason, be it medical or size. This seems like a bad situation for everyone on top of the ride's reliability (or lack thereof). Does anyone have more information as to how long this policy has been in place? But I refuse to believe that this is done without rhyme or reason, be it some obscure park/ride policy, or RMC recommendation.
  2. Nope, but I'll bet we spend the next 10 pages trying This looks like a job for... ARMCHAIR ENGINEER ENTHUSIAST MAN!
  3. I could easily see the park getting a Disk'o. But what I'd love to see at the park is an S&S Screaming Swing or a Frisbee.
  4. Apparently KMG says operate, while Chance says close it. This is interesting.
  5. ^That's interesting as the official KMG Press Release says the Revolution (Which I'm guessing is Knotts' model) can still operate.
  6. Story Land does look like a cute little park, and I am a big fan of a (well-maintained) Gravity Group woodie. The look of the front car alone would be enough to get me through the turnstiles. But the biggest question about the park... Did you meet Cinderella?
  7. Nothing official was released regarding haunt--just an attempted leak that has since been plugged. But there's a 99% probability that the only ones receiving Dragon Challenge are scrapheaps.
  8. F**K F**K F**kity F**K!!! At least I got a dueling experience back in 2010. And now my biggest question is: will the new screen-based attraction be themed around the main series, or the Fantastic Beasts series.
  9. An interesting bit of development for the park as it's looking to expand http://www.myrecordjournal.com/news/southington/southingtonnews/10614266-154/compounce-excavation-plan-draws-opposition-from-homeowners-in-southington.html So apparently the red area is the area marked for the expansion. Forgive me for not knowing the park's full zoning laws, but what stops the park from building on the blue strip of land? I know LC is a smaller park and doesn't have a large budget, but a small Hyper could fit in the combined blue and red areas, providing it could make the leap over the train.
  10. LMFAO!!! And another amazingly hilarious Robb quote about Dodonpa to go along with "My Titties are Jiggling!" Stay Amazing Robb!
  11. I'm beginning to think that the name of RMC Mean Streak will be "The Wanted." It's a term that could refer to an individual or a group, which satisfies the "They're" aspect of the marketing. The different trains could be "themed" to the characters on the posters around the site similar to how Maverick named its trains/InvadR.
  12. I'm in the early stages of planning a 2018 visit to the park where I would drive down Friday and spend the night, spend Saturday in the park, and drive back Sunday to Minneapolis. Would I be likely to hit all the (non-waterpark) must-dos on a June or July Saturday?
  13. I don't know what sounds worse: those teens, or coasterbill's MagnumCreep.
  14. Unless they pull a fast one on us and count an uphill water slide (like a ProSlide Rocket or similar) as a coaster. Stranger things have happened...
  15. Cedar Fair groupers... scaring the sh*t out of coaster enthusiasts since 2017. Really how is this scary? "Hello! Is it ok if me and my friends sit in row [fill in the blank]? That's it, that's all. They either say yes or no. I've had both happen, but usually the former. Just ask nicely and smile. Speaking as a CF ride op, it's because for every well-behaved guest or guest that asks nicely for a specific seat, there's about 4x as many who think the grouper's only function is to ruin their fun. Which is double the fun for us when working at a ride that must be perfectly balanced or will likely fault and trap the riders in the air and/or inverted for several hours.
  16. Well, when the area in question has been marked for the allowance of a potentially major expansion, I wouldn't exactly call that nothing.
  17. I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet (even as a joke), but what if it was being designed to be a VR coaster? All the talk of "They're coming" combined with the silhouette wanted posters with some intriguing looking characters. Though those characters could also just be incorporated into the battle for CP mobile game and the "they" could refer to any number of things.
  18. Wondering if their recent re-acquisition of Waldo will allow them to incorporate him into the ride as well. Would love for Waldo to take his rightly place amongst Disney's animated royalty. Hopefully as a trio of Waldo heads in the shape of a hidden Mickey.
  19. Looking at Carowinds' drop tower, it seems a bit small--especially with Fury 500 feet away. I would love to see it replaced with an Intamin Sky Jump (Falcon's Fury).
  20. Has the ride system for Guardians been announced yet? I also wonder what exactly will be done to Paradise Pier to make it into Pixar Pier.
  21. That makes it seem a lot better than my tower as it is EXTREMELY restrictive to guests of "abnormal" proportions. A few guests have left simply because they have broad shoulders. And neither is it kind to those with poor metabolisms.
  22. It's been a while since I've dealt with an S&S tower other than the one I've operated, but can you go into a little more detail on this? On the est. 2000 tower I operate, we unlock the restraints and gates before the ride has touched down and once it's touched down, it takes a couple seconds for them to open. Or in the hot parts of the summer, the restraints are a little harder to pull down/push up and are in need of a little WD-40. Do either of those sound accurate to the triple towers? Oh, and going back to your Morey's report on Ghost Ship: I love contact houses. I worked one a couple years back and although I froze my off, it was the greatest experience of my life. *EDIT* Shame about Clementon. Florida's Fun Spot parks just bought a park in Georgia. Wishful thinking, but based on what I saw in your TR, I think Fun Spot could turn it around.
  23. Hades 360 and Cyclops in the back with buzzbars: when good coasters happen to bad parks.
  24. They probably just don't want to work. Sitting around all day in an empty park waiting for any sign of potential riders, and now that that rare and magical moment has occurred, you're making them do it again. It's a feeling that I know on rainy days. The operators may question "Why the hell are people even here?"
  25. I know what you're talking about. Right when it raises off the ground it's a loud bang and scares you. I have noticed that but I feel like it's been that way forever. Oh, you mean the ominous bang of doom, death, and destruction? Just a bit of psychological torture. That, or it means the entire tower's going to collapse mid-ride. Bit of a coin toss really. Maintenance knows about it and doesn't care. It's been doing it for years and the reactions are quite enjoyable. There was one group later in the day today that screamed so loudly and so much that most of the queue laughed at them.
