  1. As a CF ride op, we make jokes all the time about how "dangerous" the rides are, how many people have "died today" on the ride, or why we have certain policies in place just to get reactions from the GP riders. She could easily fall into this same category. But she could just as easily be an attention-grabbing GP.
  2. I just checked out the website and prices for this place and HOLY FOTHERMUCKING DONKEYSH!T $24 for unlimited slingshot/drop tower rides when a single ride on each is 20/12 respectively. How are the lines?
  3. While those skywheels sure look interesting (I was unable to get on one), but how reliable were they? Why did they go the way of the dodo?
  4. I can only imagine the nightmare of having people want to ride train A over train B... Stations can be a cluster as it currently is Does BGW have a similar problem with InvadR? They dare the riders to choose their side: be it the bear train or the dragon train. But then again, this is Cedar Point...
  5. High Roller opened with the park in 1976 as a custom for Valleyfair coaster with buzzbars & no seat dividers. (That was changed last year). Kids areas were added around High Roller, so when the major Planet Snoopy expansion in 2009, it was retroactively added to Planet Snoopy. A similar coaster to High Roller operated at the Excelsior Amusement park, but was demolished with the park. VF's carousel did come from EAP, though.
  6. Hersheypark: We're adding our 14th coaster in 2018! Me: *sits back, props feet up, grabs beer & popcorn*
  7. Exactly my thinking. Plus, I don't want to rent a bunny for my carry-ons.
  8. Asylum started out as a scare zone last year before being shut down due to some overly whiny people out at Knotts saying that the idea of an asylum haunt is too f**king insensitive. I doubt it will return.
  9. Because most queue lines are not accessible. Last week, a buddy of mine had to deal with an amputee in a wheelchair in our standby, and unfortunately, we had to make him go back through the full queue and through our exit ramp because he couldn't get his chair through the turnstile. As for the elevators, (while I have never used or operated one) I believe that they're only for those in wheelchairs and operated from the platform. And yes, we make them wait. The group goes to guest services who gives them an alternate access form. This form is then brought up either the ride exit or the fast lane (usually whichever the guest finds first) and the operator gives the group (up to 4) a return time, which is approximately equal to how long they'd wait if they had joined the standby line. These passes can be given to those with a physical or mental disability that for whatever reason, grants them a legitimate reason not to wait in the standby queue. **Disclaimer** All my information is from Valleyfair experience. KBF may do it slightly different.
  10. That seems backwards.... I agree. Under that ratio, if a ride has a capacity of 36, then 30 of those would be Fast Lane and 6 standby. I don't disagree, but when people are paying $60 a head in addition to admission and anything else they might purchase, we want/need to keep the paying customers happy, and with the other people in line seeing all the fast lane breezing past, there's a number of people that have then asked me where the nearest place to acquire one is.
  11. Hey, so I'm flying down to Tampa on August 25th. I currently have a one hour layover at CLT (arrival at CLT at 10 am). Before I try to get a later flight, (and since I'm not willing to get a rental car/uber) anyone willing to pick me up at the airport for a couple hours (aka: a ride or 2 on Fury, Afterburn, and Intimidator)? I am willing to compensate--which could take the form of one (1) park admission ticket, parking at the park/airport if necessary, a meal outside the park, or something else within reason. Please PM me by the 20th if interested.
  12. ^I know the ratio that ride ops are told to use at Valleyfair for Fast lane is 5 FL:1 standby queue. So theoretically, it could be 5 billion fast lane to 1 billion members of the standby.
  13. That makes sense, but why are they still there? The last show was a month ago? I would have thought all that would be gone/in storage by now.
  14. While test-riding Power Tower today, I noticed some construction materials under a blue tarp north of the parking lot. Approximately where it was Potential staging area for some sort of construction?
  15. Haven't ridden either of those, so can't comment. While I can't speak for Clementon, I'd rather go to the carnival in Alan Moore's Killing Joke than Mt. O again until it gets new management. Both parks seem to have potential, it's just being wasted by poor management/maintenance.
  16. Congrats! That's awesome! Please take notes and report back. Congratulations on being the envy of every enthusiast. But I wouldn't be surprised if all participants had to sign some sort of NDA, so I wouldn't expect that many notes.
  17. I miss the rotoshake that was at the Mall of America and the removal of the axe end was the worst thing that Nickelodeon did to the park. I wonder how many park models are left?
  18. I definitely agree on the level of themeing in Cobra's queue, but it virtually stops at the station. And it's not the rise or the drop on Falcon's Fury--it's the tilt. I just wish it had a longer drop.
  19. I heard work is being done to Berserkers. But I also heard rumor that a third maze will be back in that area.
  20. In the initial request to build the attraction, it said construction must start within 36 months. So there is that possibility that construction on a gigs could start mid month 35. I'm still not holding my breath, though.
  21. Correction: they have 36 months to start construction after approval is granted. And as for the park adding an Intamin SkyJump, the park already has a drop tower in Mach Tower. My guess remains it will be a Starflyer-type attraction, though I'm upset that it would likely lack a light package.
  22. I think we all know about the legendary night rides on Beast. So how does it compare to night rides on Lightning Rod, Mystic Timbers, and the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg Mountain coasters?
  23. Now you have But I hope the park gets something similar/along the lines to them. I got a ride on each back when they still dueled and they were amazing rides and I'm sad that they're extremely likely headed to the junkyard. I don't think it's been confirmed so there's still a chance
  24. I've been thinking about the name "The Edge" the past couple days. What are the odds it could be for a new-generation Tilt coaster (Gravity Max)? G-Max may be pretty much a one-trick pony, but it's a hell of a trick. And it's the kind of trick that could make a bad name like "The Edge" work.
