when they first added that old colossus train for photo ops, the back drop did not have the opening start thing on their. now it's there and says spring. so i guess there is hope still for the spring opening. as far as winds. saw a pic today with employees blocking the entrance of drop of doom. so at least it was closed at some point today.

What do you think of Fast Passes?
coasterlvr replied to K1ngdaKa88's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
if they weren't available, i'd probably really rethink my coaster excursions. traveling from california, it's not really cheap to go to cedar point. but, i'll pay extra to be sure i can ride a decent amount. i hadn't been to sfga since raging bull was new, had it not been for the flash pass, i would have ridden only a few rides. i've never bought one at sfmm, or knott's near me, because i hit them on off peak days. i understand the disappointment because of them, but it doesn't really bother me at my home parks. -
all those holidays in the off season are the ones i target to hit the park. i can't remember myself about presidents day, but i'd say monday will be less crowded. but, it's also open 2 hours less closing at 6 instead of 8 according to the park hours posted. btw, so glad they added the calendar view. hated the line view only.

I assume he took those, why, do you see one that looks like it was taken in a restricted area? Looks to me like they were all taken through the fence in the parking lot. i think it's assumed they are not his, so to give credit where he got them from. they look familiar to me too. possibly from a video posted recently on youtube.

Worst Ride Replacements/Downgrades
coasterlvr replied to Pyrozooka0's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
count me with the rocket rods group. what a waste. i also preferred Back to the Future over the Simpsons because I like the movies and theming more. But for pure simulator, I think the Simpsons is better. But Transformers the ride smokes both of them, imo. trees and icee stand for Green Lantern at SFMM? lol -
Adventuredome Discussion Thread
coasterlvr replied to gisco's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
was in vegas last few days for CES. went to adventuredome yesterday morning before the convention. i was disappointed they changed the hours to close at 6pm instead of the stated 9pm. at the time, i was thinking i could go back after CES. but really, i had enough in the morning. i hadn't been in a long, long time. i was literally the only one riding the coasters almost the whole time i was there. (2 hours) few more came toward the end. el loco is a lot of fun. there's 5 jerks i wasn't a fan of going up the lift. maybe it was because i was loner style and not much weight. sorry, haven't read through the thread if this was discussed. anyway, not a huge deal. fun drop, fun hang elements. canyon blaster. i once rode this thing 50 times with maybe a train break here and there at a coaster conference. but that was almost 20 years ago. again, maybe cause i was alone, but the turn after the double loop was pretty brutal. i have a huge bruise on my left elbow. lol i still love that first drop when in the back of the train. anyway, had some fun. rode both 10 times doing a figure 8 entering and exiting each ride back and forth. -
i do wonder if some of the older rides, if it's because of my tolerance, or because they just haven't been maintained or aged well. what bothered me most the last time i rode viper was the restraint. it seemed much tighter on my shoulders than before, and i'm short, and not that much fatter than before. lol it's still fun though, even a little rough.

I used to love Viper. But I guess that was a long time ago now. lol I never thought it was too rough. But, when I rode Vortex at Banshee Bash this year...wow, that one hurt. I think it was my back that hurt the most, I can't even remember. lol I really just rode so we could get the picture after buying the all day picture pass.

i sort of think it's stilly to say Californian's like a certain ride this way or that way. like there is some vote they had each time a park decides on a new ride and majority wins so there haven't been any super air time machines. i also hope they never turn around TC. i think reverse is just a gimmick. although i did think Psyclone backwards was a better ride than forward. lol my last reverse ride on colossus is up there on worst ever ride experiences. i must have been on the train with square wheels. TC probably would be pretty good reverse though, i admit. since Alan designs with low g in mind.
