  1. I rode this year after not riding it since like '98? to me, it just seemed the same as i've always remembered it. maybe it's because i ride pretty much all non vest B&M's with my head sticking out so they never really bother me.
  2. often the off season holidays are the most dead days of the year. i try to hit them all.
  3. I like straight first drops. Goliath's drop is pretty good. I swear though it didn't slow down like it does now, which made it way better. Am I right? I think 80 degrees or so is a nice angle. I also like B&M's like Raging Bull with the pre drop section, then straight drop. SFGA Goliath and Raging Bull are a coupe of my favorites, along with Millennium Force. I don't like the extreme angles like Maverick.
  4. not at all, imo. although i do worry about my head on the way down. lol for me, if anything is scary at all, it's the going up the lift hill looking down.
  5. I did the same thing. I got Gold Pass from the sale, redeemed at the gate; and forgot to take it to the processing center and forgot to get the gold benefits. So I emailed Six Flags and this is what they had to say: " Subject: Question About Season Passes I went and processed my season pass but forgot to take my voucher to the Processing Center to add Gold benefits to my pass that I received during a sale. I log into my pass benefits and it shows "combo pass" instead of "gold pass". My pass number is REMOVED and the Plu # 10024057 is to add the gold benefits. Is there anything that can be done?" "Hello Jason, Thank you for contacting Six Flags Magic Mountain. Our records indicate that this is a gold pass and that it includes parking. The combo listing on the website is a typo. All gold passes appear as combo passes. Thank you again for contacting us and have a Six Flags day! Sincerely, Aura Six Flags Magic Mountain Guest Relations" when i recently did my membership, i asked the same question at the gate because someone had said you needed to go to the processing center. he said, no, it's all on there for mine since it was all on one bar code. just to be sure, i just used the new pass for parking and it worked fine. i've also checked the pass online at the passholder website. rewards.sixflags.com
  6. are you saying they can't dispatch trains until 1:45? i've seen them dispatch faster than that. the clock in the station is 1 minute and a couple fridays ago, they were actually decently fast. i'd guess just over the minute to 1:30 the 3 times i rode that day. although, that's not usually my experience with timing. Sorry, I should have been more specific. I was referring to the SFGAm Goliath. SFMM's Goliath was a capacity machine before the seatbelts were added, with the crew regularly hitting the 60 second clock and competing with Viper for the highest daily throughput. Unfortunately, from what I've heard it is now difficult for them to get even 1,000 pph on SFMM's Goliath due to seatbelts and guests slowing them down. ah, gotcha. i first thought that you did mean SFGA Goliath, then thought no because right after you talked about X2. lol when i was at SFGA, i was just excited to ride Goliath and had platinum flash pass so i got my two rides without waiting too long.
  7. are you saying they can't dispatch trains until 1:45? i've seen them dispatch faster than that. the clock in the station is 1 minute and a couple fridays ago, they were actually decently fast. i'd guess just over the minute to 1:30 the 3 times i rode that day. although, that's not usually my experience with timing. when i'm waiting in line, and the line moves twice as slow as the ride is designed for because of lazy employees, it bothers me. that's when i care about capacity. parks like kings island and cedar point run people through the lines. it's rare you look up at the track and you don't see a train, or even two, on the course. but, i'm accustomed to magic mountain's speed, and just happy an RMC will be near me.
  8. I have the season pass usb, that i was told they won't have in 2015. i hope that's not true. i believe it was 24.95 or 29.95 and then only $1 per photo. I buy pretty much every photo. Front gate, character, ride photos, at all six flag parks. but even at $2 a photo, it's a good deal. i believe the next best would be the all day email photo pass at some of the cedar fair parks. but it's only one day and about $30. what does suck is how magic mountain has taken out ride photos on a lot of rides.
  9. now if there was just an obvious flat spot that would be too easy. lol something else i'm really curious about are all the trees that have been hacked down. there are so many that have been cut. does give me hope that a lot will change and not just some new paint, reopen the ice cream/food place and a kiosk with some colossus merchandise.
  10. oh, and i don't think they will have the dual loading station like maverick. i just see 2 blocks before the station, the station, and the one outside in the video. i am interested about the timing of the trains that's being talked about on the lifts. also, i hope that the train will rocket up as high as it shows in the video so the second lift is short. does seem like a lot of energy though.
  11. yeah, but who wants to wait. LOL btw, that lucky person who screams "oh my God!" has ridden both twisted colossus and wicked cyclone. lucky! lol
  12. i assume they will be getting the RMC trains like Goliath. very comfortable and open. restraints sort of like yolo with the ankle things, but like i said, very comfortable. it will be cool, when it does race, and still awesome when it doesn't. if i had to choose, i still think i'd take colossus over cyclone. i like the more open and fast layout. of course i'll need to ride both to really know.
  13. guessing since they said they would have 4 trains and always run 3, that, that's just another block check. maybe two before the station, the station, and this one?
  14. Twisted Colossus, it's close to me. Fury 325, it's near my sister. Height is exciting to me.
  15. seems to me that RMC's plan starts at the station and works through the layout as you would if riding. i never followed any other retrofit builds, but it seems the same with wicked cyclone.
  16. LOL, i had to actually look closer. i knew it said boogie, so i blew it up and it says boogie busters. it's a nasal spray.
  17. went by SFMM for a few hours knowing it would be pretty dead today, but damn, it was pretty hot, too. anyway, I can't remember what's been shown lately since i look all over for stuff, so if some shots like these have been repeated, sorry. since i haven't been during the week, and today being a holiday, i didn't see much action. there were a few workers on site though, but i'm sure most were enjoying a day off. the crane arm was facing the parking lot when i got there, and facing inward toward colossus when i left, but i have no idea if they were doing anything important with it today. anyway, here's some random shots i took today. shot from the kiddy train. i think it's okay to take pics on this ride. shot from the kiddy train. i think it's okay to take pics on this ride. studs added return track. looks like there's only a bit of track in the station. i'm not tall and just held the camera over the fence. came out good though. this dude had to be hatin' life. out in the sun and painting = no fun. worker with a green RMC shirt. i've got a couple black ones. green is probably better for a worksite. apocalypse closed and everyone had the day off, nothing going on at all.
  18. the second time i rode Yolo opening day we flew threw the tunnel. i was all giddy knowing we would roll back. sat in the tunnel for about 10 minutes and launched back and again over the hill. started the chanting re-ride and they let us go again. I've never had to walk down a lift. Honestly, i'm a wuss and would hate to have to. but damn, right i'd get right back on. still hoping for a rollback on xcelerator or top thrill dragster.
  19. When Goliath first opened I remember them having all sorts of problems with the wheels coming apart. Had nothing to do with it being maintained. Things happen, I'm guessing this doesn't have anything to do with poor maintenance. the wheel thing was pretty crazy when it opened. they'd have to pull the train off pretty often and replace the wheels. chunks missing. debris all over the trains, like dirty water off a bicycle tire on your back but urethane . glad they figured out the right compound.
  20. i'm interested in that too. i would think it would only happen from a bad wheel or something. maybe something happen to the track! have RMC just throw some topper track on it since they are there already!
