longest was twisted colossus on memorial day, 2 hours and 42 minutes. lol this after a few days before riding a bunch for the commercial shoot. oh, and it was super hot memorial day, too. basically zero shade until you get to the station, a good 2 plus hours. another long wait was indian jones at disneyland opening day, or weekend. i don't remember. i do remember the line when we got in ended at the memories of lincoln or whatever it's called. i believe we waited around 2 hours. i've waited multiple times for the beast front row nearly 20 years ago for two hours and didn't care one bit.

robots and computers make other manufactures track??? don't really get that statement. are there like 10 guys that get on each side of some steel and push opposite ways to twist their i box track currently? lol j/k I meant that RMC's team builds all of their coasters on site. An outside construction crew isn't hired to build the coasters, like what is done for other manufacturers. (Example: Martin and Vleminckx build a lot of Intamin's large steel coasters) well, i know it's in a foreign country, but wildfire, from the construction videos, seems like there's just possibly the one RMC guy and the rest are all guys and companies from there. are we sure that everything done in america on site is 100% RMC crew? i know it has been said before, but it doesn't seem to make sense to have to pay all the extra expenses to have a 100% RMC crew at every site.

This is going to be a big advantage for RMC. One of the big reasons why they are so limited in projects per year is because they hand build everything, robots and computers make other manufactures track??? don't really get that statement. are there like 10 guys that get on each side of some steel and push opposite ways to twist their i box track currently? lol j/k

i think a few reasons. they really blew it designing the layout of the queue line. the single rider and main line should end at the same spot, so a grouper can easily send single riders with odd groups. because of that, it can get chaotic with the grouper having to run back and forth. so, sometimes, the regular line was faster than the single rider depending on who was working. now that they've gotten rid of assigned seats, they can't have a single rider line and be efficient. the line never really seemed to get out of hand. mostly hovering around 30 minutes or so, so to me, it wasn't much of a loss. glad i didn't go today, i almost was going to. i thought it wasn't going to be that crowded, glad i stayed home.

i totally forgot about the animation after seeing these pics. i bet it's near. the SFDK Joker animation is awesome, can't wait to see this one! -
i agree, there is almost always zero announcements which would help tremendously. some kind of verbal motivation i believe would help out. i still think it's more of a 50/50 split depending on who is working. all it takes is one slow moving employee to kill the duel. i've seen it happen too many times. I think it's a larger combination of factors. The way the ride operates really doesn't buy them much margin anyways. It takes forever for the lap bars to release, and they're difficult to raise quickly compared to most restraints. Between this and the guests, even relatively fast crews will probably fail more often than not. As others have said I think it's a stellar ride, but still. i think there is plenty of time for the average general public, and a decent crew to run the ride fast enough to duel most of the time. during WCB, we held for track many times. i've still seen many faster crews, and we still had time. all that said, you are correct, there are things that would make it even faster. the lap bars definitely being one of them. depending on the operator, some open the gates fast, some wait way too long, imo. the gates the employees need to open and close every time take a few seconds away as well. i also think that the crew might need to really make sure with larger guests. just about every time i hear a seat called out for re check, it's a larger guest. that's one of the biggest delays of all, having to walk back to re check a lap bar. would be nice if there were some indicator on the car itself so the crew didn't need to wait for the board operator to tell them one lap bar isn't down enough.

West Coast Bash 2015!
coasterlvr replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Thank you Robb, Elissa and crew! I had a great WCB. SFMM was a long, long day. really didn't ride much outside of ERT. actually, didn't even ride that many rides except for TC. haha my buddy and i did, yolo in the morning, then TC. we hit lex luthor once in between some TC. night we did superman once, then to TC for the rest of the night. oh, and ninja once right before ert. i'm local so no big deal not trying to go crazy. the TC tour was real cool. anytime you can get some unique angles it's always a treat. btw, did anyone ask about the elusive green train? would have been nice to see that. i totally forgot. barely made it back home after the long day to get about 4 hours sleep before knott's the next morning. luckily, i live about 4 miles away from knotts so no long drive. i wasn't able to stay during the day, but got in the ghostrider photo op and ss behind the scenes tour. those were great! got in a few silver bullet and xcelerator rides before heading to iron reef. it broke down and i didn't want to wait too long. i was tired and needed a nap so headed home until night ert. came back around 6:30 and the parking lot was closed. i headed to the hotel and explained to the nice lady. she called someone and they let me park there. really cool. more xcelerator and a ride on coast rider. i did one iron reef. scored 187,000. wish i rode more in the morning, i'm sure i could have done better with more experience and would have joined the contest. oh well. i forgot to mention, we over shot the brakes on yolo. after a few "psych" moments, we finally got in the right spot and were able to shoot backwards then forward over the loop and hit the awesome brakes on the drop down. lol again, awesome time, looking forward to the next one!! Sorry, got a bit slow mo happy, but i think they're pretty good. [youtu_be] [/youtu_be] [youtu_be] [/youtu_be] [youtu_be] [/youtu_be] -

i really didn't ride Revolution enough to know it very well. last i did, the last day, i didn't think the brakes were horrible. maybe cause i was so busy not trying to hit my head, i wasn't paying attention. i can understand slowing the train going into the loop, but that's about it. okay, had to go watch a video. so the one before the loop i can understand. the one before going through the loop seems like a bit strong. maybe it can be adjusted so it doesn't crawl through that spot. it doesn't seem the forces there are anything to worry about.

My West Coast Bash TR!

great stuff, Nate! thanks! -
i know for sure before i ever felt that green lift go super slow, which seems to have started after commercial filming, we were definitely release before the blue hit the brakes. we knew we would get a good duel, because as you were going thru the mid course brake, the train from the station was already heading your way. while most times at WCB ERT, were after, i do remember at least 4 of my rides being like the commercial shoot where the green side never did that crawl up the lift towards the top. it seemed there were two windows to release the train. one wasn't hard to make with half decent riders and employees. the other, you need to be fairly efficient. i'd say one seat re-check will kill the chance of it and then they'll wait for the next one where green crawls up the lift.
-
that slowest speed is so slow i almost rather not duel if it does it anymore than it does now on the upper half of green. if they can dispatch as soon as it hits the lift, then those are good. green is going up just a tad slower than blue and they meet perfect at the top. i had a number of those during ert with fast tpr folks. basically how it was during filming. i almost thought it couldn't do that anymore and only when it slows to it's slowest will there be a chance to duel.

West Coast Bash 2015!
coasterlvr replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I was almost thinking the same thing. I had planned on doing Coast Rider first for ERT, but since it died at about 6:55, I headed to the next closest thing which was XCelerator and got on the last public and first ERT trains of the night. Sunset view from the top is pretty awesome. I was on my way back for another round of XCelerator at about 8:40 when I heard it was down so I ended my night with a second mini marathon on the tm log ride well i guess that was me you sat next to. lol -
during ERT, both morning and night, it was definitely dueling a lot. way more than i've ever seen. while not always perfect, they were at least somewhat close if off. i was pretty impressed. a number of my rides were off because of WCB's. TC backstage tour gave us some great photo ops. I'm sure you'll be seeing a lot of great angles of TC posted. [youtu_be] [/youtu_be] [youtu_be] [/youtu_be]

Rob unfortunately has a broken ankle and was unable to ride. I'm sure there are others who may give their impressions. got a lot of rides in, and it seems that orange and purple have a funny wheel or something. felt like they got left behind when dueling blue. not a huge deal, but just something i noticed. finally after so many many rides, got a couple real good dual, duels. but still many many missed, but close. crew was doing a great job, and especially at night ERT.

i used to live at K1 Speed, and Pole Position for that matter. lol i've got something like 1400 races. so much money :O -
Viper is awesome yo! That is certainly not my memory of it! It DID, however, make me appreciate how far we've come from my early days of coaster riding when that was considered to be a "great" rollercoaster! To each their own, however... I still insist Drachen Fire was awesome and shouldn't be torn down, but clearly I was in the minority there! i don't know if i was such an Arrow looper nut hugger back in the day, because i didn't think any of them were rough. i loved drachen fire. i loved viper. today, i can't come close to marathoning them like i used to. i was able to do canyon blaster 10 times in january, only did that to feel i got my moneys worth. but my left side hurt pretty bad from the transition after the loops. lol so yeah, today i do appreciate how far we've come, or i'm just a wuss in my old age. probably a bit of both.
