Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
awclark replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think this is a GREAT addition to KI. From the people that have ridden it, most have generally given positive reviews and that's enough to please me. I don't EVER judge a ride before I get on it. So what if it isn't a top 10 for most. If I have a good time on a coaster... I'm a happy clam. I don't go around finding every con with the ride while basically ignoring many of the pros. Not me. If I'm blown away, that's GREAT! If I'm not... so be it. Not every major coaster built is going to best the one built before it. Their are PLENTY of examples of this so I'll let you think about them. I just always remember that its what the PARK approved and ordered in what they thought was in the park's best interest and something that most of the GP would eat up. A park usually does not sit down to discuss their next coaster with the mindset that they will design it to BLOW all us coaster enthusiasts away with extreme ejector air, utterly mind-boggling inversions, and blackout worthy forces. Parks install these things with the constant mindset of 'will this please the majority of the general public.' or something along those lines I'm guessing. So, in all I commend KI for installing this. A coaster like this was MUCH needed for the park and I think most would have been happy with ANY form of a Hyper coaster constructed at the park. Now I just have to hope that someday I can get back to the park to ride it.... -
Turaco [NL]
awclark replied to awclark's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
I'll try and make everyone happy here. 1st: Takes note, the coaster is NOT done yet. This means that what you see in the pictures, and also the trailer, is NOT the final product (It was far enough along however that I felt like I could show/make the trailer without huge parts of ride missing like supports or substantial scene elements). The pics only show the progress of the ride thus far. I usually do extensive OCD like testing of the ride until as far as I and the testers can tell, nearly everything is in order before I release it. However, I do highly encourage criticism and critique because that will only make the coaster a better experience for all who download it. So in short to answer your question coastb2, yes I know the supports are not finished yet and need a bunch of work but thanks for pointing it out though! Anyway, 2nd: Here's the embedded Youtube video trailer of it: And 3rd: Here are some pics, which are pretty self-explanatory. Any other questions or concerns though, whether it's here in the forum or by way of a PM, don't hesitate to throw my way. -

From the creator of "Serenity" and "Drachen Fire 1992/1998" I announce TURACO! My latest roller coaster design created in No Limits! Turaco is actually the name of a South African tropical bird known for its unique vibrant pigments and its agility to clamber about the trees in which it lives in. I’ve been working on this design for a while now. It’s a Vekoma Flyer/Flying Dutchman that is heavily themed and features some unique elements not yet seen on a flying coaster before. While it is not the tallest or biggest of its kind, with such features like fog-filled tunnels, ground-hugging maneuvers, and graceful yet disorienting elements, this coaster is sure to get anyone’s adrenaline pumping! Ride Facts: Lift Height: 114ft Elevation Change: 143ft Track Length: 2943ft Top Speed: 58mph Inversions: 4 Ride Time: 1:50 Max -G (Flying Position): 3.3g Max +G (Non-Flying Position): 3.6g Elements (In Order): - Back Dive - Half Roll - Outside Raven Turn - Inside Raven Turn - Lie to Fly Turn - Rollover - Vertical Loop - Helix For more information and pics visit the NLDC page here: http://www.nolimitsdevcenter.net/p5385 AND CHECK OUT THE TRAILER HERE:

CoasterSims.com no more?
awclark replied to Qixote's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
No clue what happened. I've searched various forums at other websites as well and no one seems to know about this. Seemed sudden to me. Went on it one day, it was fine, went on the next, that domain page showed up. -

Sorry if this is completely random, but I figured since it's Magic Mountain related, I'd post it here. Anyway, here's something funny I noticed on an empty billboard when I was at 'In-n-Out' by LAX today. Sorry for the quality, but I took it on my iPhone. Only a true coaster nerd would recognize this... and then subsequently take a picture of it too.

I've always wanted to go to one of these over the past couple years, but really couldn't because I'm an east-coaster. Now that I'm in LA 7 months out of the year because of college, I finally had the chance to go. I'll be by myself, but I can't wait to experience an event that's outside of ACE!! So excited! I only bought my admission an hour before they sold out!

Here are 3 pics of the schools I went to/ still going to. My grade school, High School, and college. Now here is my amazing college which I currently attend: Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, CA. I couldn't be any happier here! Here is my sweet boarding High School in Northwestern NJ: Blair Academy. An awesome 4 years spent here. Here is my grade school: The Peck School in New Jersey. The place where I spent 9 years of my life in strict uniform. Ugh.

Worst Themed ride you have been on?
awclark replied to kenshinmac's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Dark Knight at Gadv. I went there w/ my friend to go ride it knowing all the horrible reviews it was getting. I thought they were just being mellow-dramatic about it and exaggerating how bad it was. They weren't. I won't even mention the pre-show because one of the employees managed to forget to turn on the audio before the park opened so I had no idea what was going on. The ride itself was just bad. It wasn't dark because the exit door let in copious amounts of light every time someone left, the scenery went by so fast you couldn't catch a story (if there ever was one). It also looked REAL cheap even at the speed we were going, so maybe it was a good thing we went so fast so as not to see SF's complete copout on an attraction. Just bad bad bad. The 1 and only time I'll ever ride it. -
I saw this last week, but it was the last movie I saw. My Bloody Valentine...... in 3D! I had no idea the 3D aspect was going to be so cool. The ENTIRE movie was in 3D. Everything jumped right out of the screen. It made you jump out of your seat a bunch with things flying at you. The whole audience was into it and laughing and squirming. Ending was "meh", but for me being a fan of horror movies.... 9/10 Can't WAIT for the new Friday the 13th. That is my favorite horror series.

Here are some pics of me that span from me as a baby, to me this past August before I moved into college in LA. Finally, my mom and I in Vegas, which was our last stop on our cross-country drive to LA. Me at the Grand Canyon. Also on my drive from NJ to CA The Tourist shot! Me at Holiday World, which was the 2nd of 6 parks I visited on my transcontinental drive from NJ to CA for college this past August. My friends made me do a model shoot in a bar in Paris on our AP Art History trip my senior year/last year. Me on 'X' 2 years ago. This was a side adventure from all the college tours I was doing at the time. Me and my Sis on the Patriot at Castles n' Coasters in AZ probably when I was about 4. Clearly my desire to be turned upside down started at an early age.

^^ That's funny because I was also there when someone yarfed on the Ninja train. I had one of my best rides on Tatsu ever yesterday. Smooth as butter. Maybe a different train? I was here 2 weeks ago and noticed the X2 chain dog silence then. I actually hope that whatever they did, they do it to the others. Possibly why train 2 was on the transfer? Overall, I had a great day too. Longest I waited for anything was 45 mins for X2 later in the afternoon, but luckliy my sister and I had our iPods. Everything else for me was no longer than 15 mins. I felt like every coaster was dispatching faster than a few weeks ago. Especially Tatsu. They were doing great compared to their usual reputation of 5 min dispatches. They were probably around 2-3 mins from when I was waiting in line.
