  1. I was there Sunday too and took some pics, but since nothing much has changed, I didn't feel the need to post 'em.
  2. hey, the "secondary bank" could always be something like this... Hey, I can dream right?
  3. It doesn't affect me at all. Did it yesterday at SFMM. I scarfed down some Panda Express on the way to Déjà Vu, finished as I got to the bottom of the hill, jumped in the single riders line and was put on the next train. Felt great afterwards. I used to wait a little bit for that "just in case factor" a couple years ago, but now I can just jump right on.
  4. Sorry. I ran into some packaging problems. It's all fixed now and will finally be out on Coastersims and Coastercrazy this Sunday!
  5. Well, this Sunday on June 29th, my roller coaster Serenity will be released. It's been a long time in the making. Perhaps too long. It's finally here though. I have a trailer for the ride here on youtube: This is a very 3DS heavy ride and my first time using custom made 3D objects and scenery designed by none other than myself. Here is some info on the attraction: Welcome to Ty'Hana (Tie Han na) The town of Forbidden Spirits. The Spirits that reside here are Skyoto (Sky yo toe), which is an S&S Turbo Drop, Voltanya (Vole tan ya), which is the S&S Space Shot, and the star of the area, Serenity! A high speed, intense, and dynamic Rocket Coaster coming from Intamin. The Spirits will be Unleashed June 29th, 2008. Specs - Max Speed: 76mph - Height: 202ft - Highest Drop Height: 198ft - length: 5,107ft - Max + g's: +4.8 - Max - g's: -1.2 - Inversions: 4 - Launch: 0-72mph in 2.1sec the NLDC page is here: http://www.nolimitsdevcenter.net/p1902 A lot of research went into making this entire attraction and themed area as realistic as possible. While the length of the coaster is unusually long for an Intamin rocket, it is still very very thrilling. I had a lot of fun creating this ride for you and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do when it comes out!
  6. cool PTR. I just rode it today. It was good. Not the best, but the elements flowed very nicely. I still like Storm Runner better.
  7. Yo! That girl sitting on the bench in front of the Nitro sign was with me that day along with my other 2 friends. I wouldn't be suprised if I'm on that train heading up the lift.
  8. ^ I don't know when they reprofiled it, but comepare it to this drop on youtube. Notice how there is no snap at the bottom. I just know there was a bunch of work they have done on Viper since it opened. They re-profiled the first drop, added the bracing on the vertical loops, added extra supporting to the banked curve after the 1st loop. I beleive they added brakes after the 1st loop. I think they aslo added brakes after the boomerang.
  9. Did anyone catch the original drop on Viper at Magic Mountain before it was reporfiled in the 1st video of the Pipeline segment? That looks brutal. Great vids btw
  10. I think this is great. Dubailand is going to be huge when its done. Six Flags is already focusing on their US parks by clearing out older, decrepit, carnival like attractions and adding in tons of kids areas while still trying to add the basic thrill/fun rides. I can see how some people don't like this idea, but you have to spend money to make money. Just have to spend smartly
  11. Clearly this was an "oh shoot, we forgot to rename the paramount rides at what park is it...... oh yea Carowinds. Let's see.... I'm already late for a meeting.... hmmm. We already have Thunderhawk and Firehawk Soooo how abouuut, Nighthawk? sounds good. Oh wait! We forgot Top Gun! Screw it. The passengers board on what is supposed to be the Flight Deck of an aircraft carrier so call it Flight Deck." However fast that took you to read is how fast the names came to be.
  12. ^^^^ I must have awful luck with Scream! because everytime I've been it's always over an hour wait. go figure
  13. Viper needs a queue design. The queue house is way too small and confusing. Everytime i've been the line is always spilling out into the midway. It needs this redesign but also a lengthening. I wonder how far down the path the line for Viper went in it's opening year. Can't wait to see X after the changes. Hopefully with $10 million as the budget they can actually add good effects and not have a boombox and soom cheap lights where the batteries and light bulbs will run out and never be replaced. We'll see....
  14. I only have 1 semi bad experience, but I wasn't pissed off by the end of it. A lot of you seem to exagerate your stories and make it seem that this 1 ride ruined the rest of your day. But's that's just the impression I get. Mine was at X. I rode it 1st thing in the morning, 1 min wait for inside, front front row seat, stair side. I had an incredibly smooth ride. I was shocked. I came back later that night and got in the same seat, except I knew it was a different train because the purple protective panel inbetween the chasis and seats was covered with a few peices of gum. It started off fine but from the bottom of the 1st drop on it shoock the living daylights out of me. I came off and was just laughing saying, "that train needs a little TLC" haha.
  15. About the queue... they may end up the the same thing that Storm Runner did if the lines get that bad. For those of you that rode in '04, the actual queue was tiny. They had to put a temporary rope switchback down a maintenance path where personally I waited 1 hour in that and then 30 mins in the small. By next year they had realized their mistake and installed a huge switchback nestled in a grassy area next to SR's turn into the station, thus stopping overflows. If the lines are too ridiculous to handle on Behemoth, they may install extra queue. Just a thought. Every major coaster queue should be designed to hold at least 2 to 3 hours. That way you rarely have to deal with a spill-out onto the already crowed midways. Look at IOA. DD, Hulk, Spiderman, and JP:RA have huge queues to begin with, but they all have huge overflow areas for that "Just in case" factor.
  16. ^Understandable that the ropes would be worn away from all the rain in FL but they also didn't have to replace them because the line rarely got to be that long and they would only change the ones on the straight main path to the castle. ^It does look like a migrane. Just to try and figure out the path of all the ropes looks like a nightmare. That's IOA though. All their queues are mazes of ropes and overflow areas. Still would like to know what that outdoor area looks like. Any regulars to IOA, i'd appreciate it a TON if you got some pics. I don't think I'll be able to get down their before HP is done. Unless they just change the outdoor section into the Forbidden forest (makes sense considering it is Merlinwood right now) which would keep it similar to what it is now.
  17. Here are the best pics I could obtain of the outdoor sections of the queue. None of them however show the queue from the ground (ie. pics from standing in the queue). The 1999 map shows the massive outdoor section of the queue. The more recent maps just show a straight path heading to the castle. This live aerial taken before FU was added and it looks like before the park even opened. The highlighted area is the massive outdoor section. These original blueprints show the layout of the outdoor section of the queue before Flying Unicorn was added. Although I am unsure, but I think the 1st area of the outdoor queue was removed when FU was added. This pic does not show however, the layout of the ropes within the queue.
  18. It's been over a year, but i'm still interested. Anyone have pictures of the Outdoor Queue section of Dueling Dragons?
  19. omg. I worked at SFGAdv this summer and when I was working the ride Lead at Batman said: "they can't bring bags on the ride" Me: "That's understandable for big bags, but what about those tiny purse wallets or fanny packs?" Him: "Nothing can be brought on because we don't want a final destination" Me: "Umm wow ok. What you saw in that movie could never happen on an actual ride." Him: "well we don't want the risk of having their bags flying up into the wheels and crashing" me: "wow. fine" It got me SO angry how dumb and gullible people are. I understand that they didn't want the bag flying up, but he legitimatly beleived that it would cause an FD3. I tried to reason, but it was impossible. They were even more strict about it at skull mountain where the policy basically was: "you have a bag. Oh, sorry, you can't ride" UGH.
  20. UPDATE: in the spring of 2008 X: Xperience the Xtreme will become X2: Xtreme to the 2nd Power Here are 3 links to confirm the news: http://www.screamscape.com/html/six_flags_magic_mountain.htm http://travel.latimes.com/daily-deal-blog/?p=942 http://www.sixflags.com/magicMountain/rides/X2.aspx I think this sounds awesome! Although $10 million sounds a bit much for some updates.
  21. This is a perfect addition to HP. I read some people are comparing it to SR. No way is this similar to SR. None of the elements are similar in any way except maybe the tophat lift. It has completey new and fresh elements not seen the in the park except the corkscrew. Animations don't do justice. Ride it before you judge. SO many of you nitpick new rides to death. You can't experience all the forces and speed through an animation. Look at KK for example. Many thought the extra air hill would have some serious airtime, but it barely has any, if any at all. I think this ride will kick a$$.
  22. Cedar Point for me. As some have already said, they have some good rides, but they are really overrated IMO. None of the coasters are bad, but they are just mediocre to me. Maverick and TTD were the only true eye-openers to me when i rode them for the 1st time. I mean for me, the coasters were so over hyped that my expectations were set SO high and then when I actually rode them, i thought they were good, but not as AMAZING as everyone made them out to be.
