  1. But didn't Fireball also receive a heavy re-tracking just before TPR came there? I would like to know how Fireball was running before that, as that will give us an idea of how rough this ride is (hopefully not) going to get. And on the video, there are some POV's of the ride that are much, much worse. But that is exactly the point. No one expected them to even bother retracking the ride and keep it running well. I've been in Happy Valley like once a month since 2010 after I came to learn chinese. Fireball has never run rough in all my visits in 2011. They started retracking the ride around december in 2012 and finished around February in 2013. I have no idea why it took 3 months though. After the retracking, it was smoother, but hardly noticeable since it was never too rough.
  2. Birdmen??? Never heard of that one before.
  3. I remember seeing on a british coaster enthusiast website that the guy who designed the ride was the first to ride it and got a back concussion. It also says that it constantly broke down and had many bugs. I'll try to find the link and post it later.
  4. Through my 3 years in China,I have discovered some claims that are even more insane. A ride op at Jinjiang Action Park tried to convince me that their Giant Inverted Boomerang was designed by China and is the only one in the world. I was like, how stupid does he think I am.
  5. Oh Wow! Construction is going on so fast!
  6. Definitely the most forceful would be Formula Rossa's launch. Holy Shi# that was a forceful intense launch!
  7. Apparently, the coaster company that built this only built ONE coaster in their entire existance...
  8. I was doing a research project on roller coasters and stumbled upon this in RCDB. According to RCDB, apparently, Air @ Alton Towers is not the first flying coaster. It is actually Skytrak at Grenada Studios in Britain. The ride was made by Skytrak International and featured trains similar to Zamperla's Volare flying coasters. http://rcdb.com/2380.htm
  9. Do you know if Battlestar Gallactica is a costly ride to maintain? Does it frequently suffer massive downtime?
  10. That is absolutely insane! I wonder if we should request one of those things on a TPR tour.
  11. They are horrifying. This happens in Shanghai too during the peak winter months. The air can be absolutely terrible sometimes.
  12. The best? OUTLAW RUN!!!! I bet many people would agree with me on this.
  13. Funniest... joke... EVAR! Magic Mountain is just as bad, if not worse than any other SF park on letting rides deteriorate. I would say the only SF parks where I've ever felt like the rides were generally well maintained and ran comfortable are SFDK and SFGAm (granted I haven't been to quite a few of them). Honestly SFMM's got some great rides that run like complete crap (Riddler, Scream, Colossus, Green Lantern) compared to how they once were(or in GL's case, could have been). That's not really true either. Roar @ SFDK hasn't gotten a retracking in a few years and it is riding absolutely terrible. I mean TERRIBLE! I think parks only do a full maintenance run on rides which people flock to. Also, with SFDK now turning into a year-long park, I don't really see them retracking Roar next year. I also kind of disagree with SFMM's Green Lantern's case. I think, it NEVER has been any good in the first place. It's been painful since the first month its been installed.
  14. Which of the Mr.Freeze rides do you think is better after riding both?
  15. For me, Corkscrew are the worst. An exception would be Viper @SFMM IF you know which seat to ride in.
  16. That coaster looks QUITE unsafe... That track almost looks like an inverted Intamin hyper coaster track.
  17. As they probably should... Sorry, I just love Mega Lites. +1 I definitely agree. One of the good things about learning Chinese in China for three years is that Happy Valley Shanghai's mega-lite is only 30 minutes away. I can go there every Friday if I wanted to! Jealous???
  18. Any of the rides at ANY Happy Valley parks in China. The Ops are seriously terrible. It takes the ops like 5 minutes to dispatch a coaster and up to 10 to get a flat running.(most of the time)
  19. CGA:5 or so( every summer) SFDK: 5 or so(every summer) Happy Valley Shanghai 8 (during the school year) Jinjiang Action PArk like 30-40 times since its a 5 minute taxi ride from our school.
  20. Great Photo TR David! My Chinese teacher showed us an cartoon with the monkey in it a few classes back. Its a kid's story about a monkey with a magical stick. Basically, the stick was powerful and gave the monkey power. Its kind of a lame story. But, since its old, I guess, it sort of counts as part of the Chinese Culture.
  21. I totally agree! CGA should remove Vortex and put in an Mega-Lite. Vortex is old and not re-ridable. A Mega-Lite on the other hand.... I could ride all day!!!
  22. Awesome! I can't wait to find the time to fit in 3 more credits.
  23. Where is Fisherman's Wharf exactly? It's one of a few parks in Shanghai that I have yet to do.
  24. Why do accidents always happen on Intamin coasters. B&M's coaster never have any accidents(none that I know of).
  25. Starry Sky Scrapper at World Joyland is the most intense B&M flyer. But for the rest, definitely the Batman clones.
