Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread

Really nice color! But seemly too similar to the track and support color so it's not as eye catching while a train is running. -
Suprising Soakings
gerstlaueringvar replied to Kingsislandfreak's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The 2nd and the 8th seat at the last row of B&M dive machines can make the back of your cloths completely soaked. At least that are the case for Chimelong Paradise and Happy Valley Shanghai. -
^ I think Intamin and Gerstlauer is different. If Six Flags is looking for record breaker, Intamin is the right choice. But for Gerstlauer, there are Maurer, S&S, Mack and Zierer providing rides at roughly the same price. Sure that Gerstlauer made Takabisha and Smiler, I can still see Mack winning the marketing competition for capacity and quality.

Maverick and SFGAm Demon. -
I still think calling Outlaw Run's 153 degrees tuan as an inversion is kind of weird... About the price, B&M tracks are made in US and Intamin's tracks are made in Europe. Labor price is higher in Europe. Rumor said that B&M will start a China factory to produce tracks and supports just like Vekoma. About motor system, please look at the pictures. But here's what Intamin built 11 years ago. I don't think B&M will ever make something like this. Now I guess we can see why reliability is an issue for most Intamin rides. Here's one of B&M's newest projects.

What happened was that it rained quite a bit before the park opened but it stopped as soon as we got in (11 a.m.). At around 1 we moved to maverick's area and they said "The rain messed it up". I kept checking throughout the day and even though it never rained again it didn't open. The following day I also went there a couple of times and nothing, and during that day it only rained for around 1 hour in the afternoon as it was very little. That was a Tuesday and from what I know I'm sure it was running without problems on Thursday. Even TTD was open for almost the entire time. You can only imagine how pissed/sad I was I can understand and I've been to similar situations. *cough* NTaG, iRat, Shockwave, Tatsu *cough*

Falling down while crossing an Arrow looper train. Before I rode Dragon at Ocean Park HK for the first time, I was kind of scared. While I crossed the train to out my things down, I fell down and hit the floor pretty hard. Maybe I just hate to step on a roller coaster seat, there were plenty of times when I almost fall down while crossing the train to put down my bag. Especially Arrow loopers and Premier coasters.

Sex and the City, classic is classic! I love Samantha!!! -
Haven't been on Furius Baco. X2 is really different from the B&M wing coasters. I rode X2 once in the front row and there's an amazing pop of air on the camel back after the first raven turn. To me, X2 in the front row is about as rough as GK in the outside seats and FOTR in the back row. My favorite B&M wing coaster is FOTR, then X-Flight, then GK. But X2 is way better than FOTR IMO.

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

^ But I think something as well themed as Winjas would not fit into CP... It would feels like YOLOcoaster pop up at Phantasialand. -
The Official TPR Video Thread!

I rode it back to 2007, I don't think the restraints were actually locked because the ride op tied the OTSR's with the seat belts really right and the OTSR's moved on a huge range. Front row has some decent ejector before hitting the brake and the loops are pretty intense, that's what I remember about this ride. I waited 3.5 hours for this ride and I talked to a staff that this coaster could use a second train -

Improving Parks

Chimelong Paradise is clearly growing better and better every time I visit there. It used to be dirty, crowded and every coaster run one train except for the Golden Horse spinner. But now, 10 Inversion Coaster, Dive Machine and Youngstar Coaster run two trains and the train at the back would never wait to enter the station; Motor coaster dispatches ridiculously fast; the park gets very clean; Chimelong is the first and probably the only company to realize the importance of souvenirs, food, drinks and fast lane; adding new attraction every year, sometimes they hold a big concert till mid night. With the opening of Ocean Kingdom and seeing how successful the park already gets, I really think China's future in amusement industry depends on Chimelong. Disneyland is meeting a competitor. -

Hang on, doesn't China build a new forty or so building at least once a week? So guessing with most of this, it should be finished quicker than other places. It will be the theming that will take time. Skyscrapers and theme parks are very different. In China, you have to sign all kinda of contracts and sometime steps need "special relationship" or certain government department will never let you pass them. Such thing can really take up to 3 years.

When CP turns to B&M, they are certainly looking for family thrill and over priced ride. GK looks great but I just don't think it deserves that much money.
