  1. For what it's worth, Conneaut Lake Park is on the way between Kennywood and Waldameer. Might be worth a quick stop if you have the time. Double-check their operating status before making the diversion. But it's not far off the interstate (maybe 20 minutes?) and it's an easy in-and-out visit if you need to make it so.
  2. Make some time to go to a Halloween event. It's likely that Halloween Horror Nights at Universal, or Howl-O-Scream at Busch Gardens in Tampa, will just be starting up toward the end of your trip. Definitely worth checking out if you've never been to one of these events. I don't think either has released a Halloween operating calendar yet, but looking at Universal's calendar, they've got 5pm closes as early as September 24 and 25 this year, and again starting Thursday, Sept. 29, so those are potential HHN nights (though the first couple may be employee preview nights). If you decide to go, read through threads here for helpful tips (such as: ALWAYS buy HHN Express at Universal). Enjoy!
  3. It was running five trains this past Thursday. We left from the back position in the station, but returned to the front.
  4. When I was there this past Thursday, they were running five trains. I was there for opening, watched them load the first two pairs of empty trains, then a fifth empty train rolled in, followed by the loaded train from the first ride of the day.
  5. We can never have enough City Museum! I love that it's become a must-do for so many TPR-folk! BTW, the Roof opened today. You missed it by a week, so you gotta go back RIGHT NOW!
  6. Based on quick observation, Forbidden Journey can accommodate around 2,400 riders per hour. Not bad at all!
  7. I received my "delicious knobby ball" in the mail today. Haven't tasted it yet, will report back when I do.
  8. Actually at Walibi Belgium (it's hard to keep all these Walibis in order!), but this was going to be my nomination as well! Count me as another vote for Vertigo... Especially since I have this one!
  9. Cedar Fair doesn't own the land on which CGA sits, so there's no potential for proceeds from a land sale. That said, if your assignment allows you to assume otherwise, one of the Phoenix area's Native American reservations might be a potential partner/location. Many already have casinos, golf courses, etc.; perhaps a new category of entertainment would be of interest to one of these communities.
  10. I'd say Seattle followed by Indianapolis, then Cincinnati. Phoenix may be good for certain outdoor activities, but it lacks the urban "vibe" that you describe. And I don't know enough about Lexington to rank it in any way. Good luck!
  11. Thanks for sharing these pics Hanno! I love reading everyone's thoughts on that day. City Museum is truly one of a kind, and one of my favorite places anywhere.
  12. Yes, yes, a thousand times YES.
  13. I think I've seen one of these things at Dorney Park too. And if memory serves correctly, I believe they had an extra set of wheels made so that they could retrofit it for use on Steel Force.
  14. Since the trip is over I'd just like to share how happy I am that TPR was able to make it to the City Museum for one glorious night. It was great to see everyone having such a great time and accumulating interesting battle scars. I want to go back right now—who's with me? Thanks for making it happen, Robb & Elissa. Fun times!
  15. The ride was built to be capable of handling three, but only two trains were ordered for the ride. It never had a third train.
  16. One option would be to rent a car from Disney's on-site car rental center. I believe it's an Alamo/National location. They have a shuttle van that will come pick you up at your resort hotel and bring you to the rental center, where you can pick up your car. Best bet would be to reserve your car ahead of time, and then call the rental center at least a day in advance to schedule your van pick up. Otherwise, I'd look at taking a cab.
  17. My understanding is that Mr. Hart financed Chang himself, then leased the ride to Kentucky Kingdom. I would imagine that when Premier Parks acquired the park, they most likely purchased the ride from Mr. Hart at roughly the same time.
  18. I think the common thread with these rides is that their design could allow you to turn sideways and get your knees out from under the lapbar. From that position, you could stand up and exit the ride while it's in operation. Having a riding companion next to you on the seat makes it much less likely that you could do something like this. Sadly, many of these rules have unfortunate stories behind them.
  19. If ever you have an issue using your season parking pass at other Six Flags parks, just point out the back of the pass card, where it specifically states, "season parking passes may be used at other parks." This is the case for my season pass, and I suspect it is for every other Six Flags pass out there as well. Happy parking!
  20. YES, MORE CITY MUSEUM! That is all.
  21. The coaster at Waterville USA is a CCI ride that was built in 1995, the same year as Raven. That said, it does have some nice classic lines.
  22. Since my epic trip report has been archived, this thread seems like a good place to post this little City Museum update. (More info and photos here!) This weekend the folks at the City Museum competed in the Idiotarod, which is a shopping cart race through downtown St. Louis. They built a Mad Max-themed shopping cart racer. Three things that make this photo awesome: Fire, leather fetish gear, and slinkies. Can you find more?
  23. Lagoon in Utah has a Top Scan and a Splashover.
