Parks Creating Rides In-house
ViperLover replied to Garet's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The only in-house ride I hade ridden was Bobsleds at Seabreeze in Rochester, NY. Its more of a kiddie or family coaster, but a nice one nonetheless. Photo courtesy of RCDB -
^That is not true. The Giant Wheel hasn't had lights since Six Flags owned the place. Don't ever believe what you see on Darien Lake ads because half of the pics they use are from other parks. Last year, they were selling post cards with pics of Hook's Lagoon at a different park. (I think it was Six Flag's New England's)

When I went to the park today, Viper's exit was rerouted to the entrance of Galaxy Theater. I think that they were fixing the asphalt. Also, does anyone remember that a couple of years ago, RoS's red train was being refurbished for the whole season? I think that they may be doing the same to the blue train. EDIT: The year was 2010

The NHL Discussion Thread

As a Red Wings fan, I am sad to see Filppula go. But I am way more excited to see the Wings pick up Weiss. Filppula has potential, but Weiss is more of a consistent player. Also, I just realized that he was one of Florida's best players, and Florida isn't a team that scores often. I see this deal as a steal because Weiss is making less than Fil, and is arguably better. -
July 4th / Independence Day crowds
ViperLover replied to larrygator's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I went to Darien Lake from opening to around 7 PM. Crowds were surprisingly light with most people in the water park. All coasters are still running one train, while the other trains are nowhere in sight. The only major rides that were closed were the Boomerang and Cuda Falls, which is being refurbished. There is still no word on the fate of UFO. -
Retro Photo TR: Boblo Island

I'm guessing that all of the coasters were white because white paint is cheaper. -
NoLimits Coaster News!

I don't know what's better, Nolimits 2 or TPS. I hope that NL2 comes out earlier so that it makes up for the delay. -
I headed up to the park today, and I was impressed with the new Boardwalk, but the service was just as bad as years before. In about 5 hours, I only got on 6 rides, 3 being coasters. Almost every ride in the park was down at one point. As cold as it was, the Flume and Grizzly Run were running. Most employees were slow and clueless, including the mechanics. One that was working on Blast Off left the electric panel open unattended and little kids were looking at it. Darien Lake wonders why people get injured there. I could keep going on and on with complaints, but I don't want to sound like I hate the park. Once they can get all of the rides running correctly, the park should turn out very nice.

I'm not trying to be a moderator, but this is something that should probably go in the Carowinds Discussion Thread. -
Why Does Everybody Hate on Six Flags?
ViperLover replied to eltororider's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The employees at Holiday World are nicer because its a family owned theme park. Think about it, Six Flags is a huge corporation that has to hire thousands of people a year. Holiday World is one park so they only have to hire hundreds. Besides, most (not all) of the workers at Six Flags are careless teens who need a summer job once they are out of school. Where are the nicer workers, at the McDonalds that is at every corner, or the family owned diner down the street?
