Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread

Looks great. Say what you want about this coaster compared to other gigas, but it definitely has the best color scheme of all of them IMO. I am a sucker for blue and white. It's so classic and timeless. -
^You may have just ridden in a different seat. Your ride experience can change drastically row-by-row, left side vs. right side, and even individual seats. Every ride on X2 is a hit or miss, regardless of time of day. I have gotten both smooth and rough rides in the morning, mid-day, and evening. With that being said, I suggest heading straight to X2 or Full Throttle in the morning. Neither is a bad choice. Both lines tend to die down later in the day, but X2 will die down more since it is less accessible and convenient. Both rides have terrible capacities. I would then head immediately to WCR. After that, just do as you please. Even though it will be President's Day weekend, I don't imagine you would encounter massive crowds. The 18th will definitely be the best day. And even if it were crowded, three days is plenty of time to hit everything in the park without a Flash Pass. Have fun! Report back!

What Was The Last Coaster You Rode?

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at Disneyland on New Year's Day! -
Excellent report! I really wanna try to visit this park this summer. It looks amazing. Also, fun fact. If you wanna get *really* technical, the highest elevation coasters in North America all belong to Six Flags Mexico. The entire park is around 8,000 feet above sea level. But since most people don't get down to Mexico City, Cliffhanger definitely still has a "mini-record" for the U.S. Come to think of it, I actually think Six Flags Mexico is the highest elevation major park anywhere in the world.

Installing both a giga AND a hyper might be a little too ambitious to consider, however I do think a B&M hyper is very possible (and likely) in the next 5 years. Something along the lines of Mako or Candymonium would be perfect. The day the West Coast finally gets a B&M hyper will be a very happy day.

What is your next park?
thrillseeker4552 replied to onewheeled999's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Likely Knott's on February 29th or March 1st. -
I anticipate the hourly capacity to be comparable to Full Throttle. WCR has the advantage with the shorter trains and lack of seatbelts (meaning faster loading times), but it also unloads on the same side and has fewer passengers per train than Full Throttle. It also, however, dispatches more often. I waited in a roughly 20-minute line back in late December when I rode it, and it didn't move very fast, but also not super slow either. It's pretty much impossible to have super high capacity on these newer Premier coasters because the trains take forever to get in and out of - even without the comfort collars.

What parks are you visiting in 2020?
thrillseeker4552 replied to VF15's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
2019 was a very big travel year for me. I did a Mid-Atlantic trip (SFA, KD, Caro, SFOG), a NorCal trip (SFDK and CGA), and a Texas trip (SFOT and SFFT) in addition to my regular visits to SoCal and Utah. Therefore, I am anticipating a very light 2020. Definitely visiting (basically my 3 home parks): Knott's Berry Farm Six Flags Magic Mountain Lagoon Somewhat possible: Silverwood (never been) Glenwood Caverns (never been) Currently a pipe dream, but not completely impossible: Busch Gardens Williamsburg (never been) Hersheypark (haven't been since 2016) -
Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread
thrillseeker4552 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The best part is that, despite having similar stats, they will have drastically different ride experiences. One for the mild enthusiasts, and another that should be illegal and not allowed to exist in America. Candymonium will be a great ride I'm sure, especially if Mako is any indication that B&M's newer hypers are their best. With that being said, if I ever make it back to Hersheypark sometime soon, it will be to ride Skyrush again. That ride is unreal. -
It is a great ride. I would also like to add that the comfort collars are very unnoticeable and hardly affect the ride experience. They really only make the train even more cumbersome to enter/exit than it already is. However, I went on a very cold day and was dressed in many layers, so I had some extra padding around my neck... I thought they were much more noticeable on Electric Eel though. Are the ones on WCR an updated design?

PowerPark Discussion Thread

I saw this on social media and was very intrigued. I thought it was an extension at first too (since the color schemes are identical and they are right next to each other). Are we sure it isn't? Even if it's not, this whole project is pretty strange (but in a good way!). -
Anyone ridden all the RMCs yet?
thrillseeker4552 replied to kweiss's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
After my trip to Texas in December, my list got three new additions! Now it looks like: 1. Twisted Timbers 2. Twisted Colossus 3. Railblazer / Wonder Woman (they are identical, I don't prefer one over the other) 4. Wicked Cyclone 5. Iron Rattler 6. Twisted Cyclone 7. New Texas Giant 8. Joker -
Poltergeist @ Six Flags Fiesta Texas Rode it for the first time a couple weeks ago!

"Spring" semester should not start on January 6th. Sorry, that's way too early. Also, since the semester starts this week, my "spring break" begins on FEBRUARY 29th! And my semester ends on April 29th! Just wish I had a longer winter break (>3 weeks). I get wanting to maximize time in the summer for students to work, but starting school this early so we can finish by the end of April seems crazy and unnecessary to me. Especially in UT where "spring" semester is basically snow and sub-freezing temperatures until at LEAST late-March. //rant over

I rode West Coast Racers for the first time yesterday. What a nice ride! The best way to describe it is an exact cross between Full Throttle and Twisted Colossus (as others have before). That is exactly what it feels like, however it is less intense than either of those coasters. This coaster definitely falls into the “family” category for me (despite its absurd 54” height requirement). I actually thought the interaction between the trains was great. The fact that they shuffle throughout the course (like TC) is exciting. This is one of the rides where racing/dueling makes the ride fun. Twisted Colossus is still awesome even when it doesn’t duel, but I don’t think I could say the same for this coaster. My favorite moments were the high five, the top gun stall (which is nice without a net, might I add), and the final corkscrew crossover near the brake run. None of the launches are particularly intense, but I think this is the perfect coaster to introduce launches to someone who has never experienced one. Overall love the coaster and think it fills a nice gap in the lineup, despite its similarities to two other coasters in the park. I wish the height requirement weren’t 54” (isn’t Ice Breaker 48”, and it has the same trains?). In terms of thrill level, I place it alongside higher-thrill family coasters like Ninja, Revolution, or Apocalypse. I will also add that the area around the ride is excellent and is a VAST improvement to what the area used to be since Deja Vu’s removal. I won’t make it back to the park until March, but now that this coaster is essentially open, I may actually make an effort to visit that corner of the park now. It will help distribute crowds and balance out coaster placement in the park.

I just wanted to pop in this thread and say that I had a FANTASTIC time at Six Flags Over Texas on Saturday. The park exceeded my expectations greatly. I was worried about one train operations, ride closures, bad weather, and more, given the time of year. So many things could have gone wrong, but I guess I got REALLY lucky. Batman, Titan, Shockwave, New Texas Giant, and even Judge Roy Scream were all running two trains and dispatching very well. Mr. Freeze was running just one side, but I was just thrilled it was open! The park also looked fantastic for HITP, and every coaster and flat ride was up and running. It could not have gone better. We also purchased a Flash Pass, which definitely helped for rides like La Vibora and Joker. Oddly enough, I think Mr. Freeze is my favorite coaster in the park. NTG is good, but Freeze has that crazy intensity that I love in coasters. I couldn’t get enough of that ride. NTG was about what I expected. You can tell it was the first RMC, but it’s still a fun ride. It was mild enough that my mom actually rode it and liked it a lot (which cannot be said for other RMCs). Overall I love this park. We also got a chance to visit SFFT on Sunday, which I also loved. Both Texas parks get two big thumbs up from me. Either I got very lucky, or people complain about these two park way too much that it lowered my expectations. I can’t wait to go back to again! Thanks to those who gave me some tips beforehand.

What Was The Last Coaster You Rode?
thrillseeker4552 replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm sorry, what? I am very confused. There is no possible way that string of words can form a coherent sentence. In other words, my last coaster was GhostRider on Nov 26th.
