  1. I was pleasantly surprised by Judge Roy Scream. It gave me serious Lagoon Roller Coaster vibes (before they added the Millennium Flyers). I also found it hilarious how "out of the park" it is. It took me a solid 20 minutes just to find the entrance to go under the road!
  2. Installing both a giga AND a hyper might be a little too ambitious to consider, however I do think a B&M hyper is very possible (and likely) in the next 5 years. Something along the lines of Mako or Candymonium would be perfect. The day the West Coast finally gets a B&M hyper will be a very happy day.
  3. It has been 3 years since I posted my ranking. Having ridden all the rides many times more and having ridden WCR, here is my new list. 1. X2 2. Twisted Colossus 3. Tatsu 4. Viper 5. Full Throttle 6. Batman 7. Riddler 8. Goliath 9. Superman 10. West Coast Racers 11. Ninja 12. Apocalypse 13. Scream 14. New Revolution 15. Gold Rusher 16. All the kiddie coasters
  4. Likely Knott's on February 29th or March 1st.
  5. I anticipate the hourly capacity to be comparable to Full Throttle. WCR has the advantage with the shorter trains and lack of seatbelts (meaning faster loading times), but it also unloads on the same side and has fewer passengers per train than Full Throttle. It also, however, dispatches more often. I waited in a roughly 20-minute line back in late December when I rode it, and it didn't move very fast, but also not super slow either. It's pretty much impossible to have super high capacity on these newer Premier coasters because the trains take forever to get in and out of - even without the comfort collars.
  6. 2019 was a very big travel year for me. I did a Mid-Atlantic trip (SFA, KD, Caro, SFOG), a NorCal trip (SFDK and CGA), and a Texas trip (SFOT and SFFT) in addition to my regular visits to SoCal and Utah. Therefore, I am anticipating a very light 2020. Definitely visiting (basically my 3 home parks): Knott's Berry Farm Six Flags Magic Mountain Lagoon Somewhat possible: Silverwood (never been) Glenwood Caverns (never been) Currently a pipe dream, but not completely impossible: Busch Gardens Williamsburg (never been) Hersheypark (haven't been since 2016)
  7. The best part is that, despite having similar stats, they will have drastically different ride experiences. One for the mild enthusiasts, and another that should be illegal and not allowed to exist in America. Candymonium will be a great ride I'm sure, especially if Mako is any indication that B&M's newer hypers are their best. With that being said, if I ever make it back to Hersheypark sometime soon, it will be to ride Skyrush again. That ride is unreal.
  8. It is a great ride. I would also like to add that the comfort collars are very unnoticeable and hardly affect the ride experience. They really only make the train even more cumbersome to enter/exit than it already is. However, I went on a very cold day and was dressed in many layers, so I had some extra padding around my neck... I thought they were much more noticeable on Electric Eel though. Are the ones on WCR an updated design?
  9. I do not understand how somebody can look at Iron Gwazi and wish it were something else.
  10. Carolina Bay at Carowinds on June 29th, 2019. When was the last time you spent over $100 on a single item?
  11. I saw this on social media and was very intrigued. I thought it was an extension at first too (since the color schemes are identical and they are right next to each other). Are we sure it isn't? Even if it's not, this whole project is pretty strange (but in a good way!).
  12. I am stoked for this coaster. Since 2019 was a HUGE travel year for me, I am taking it easy in 2020 and staying near home, so I am glad I still have a new coaster to look forward to riding!
  13. After my trip to Texas in December, my list got three new additions! Now it looks like: 1. Twisted Timbers 2. Twisted Colossus 3. Railblazer / Wonder Woman (they are identical, I don't prefer one over the other) 4. Wicked Cyclone 5. Iron Rattler 6. Twisted Cyclone 7. New Texas Giant 8. Joker
  14. Poltergeist @ Six Flags Fiesta Texas Rode it for the first time a couple weeks ago!
  15. "Spring" semester should not start on January 6th. Sorry, that's way too early. Also, since the semester starts this week, my "spring break" begins on FEBRUARY 29th! And my semester ends on April 29th! Just wish I had a longer winter break (>3 weeks). I get wanting to maximize time in the summer for students to work, but starting school this early so we can finish by the end of April seems crazy and unnecessary to me. Especially in UT where "spring" semester is basically snow and sub-freezing temperatures until at LEAST late-March. //rant over
  16. I rode West Coast Racers for the first time yesterday. What a nice ride! The best way to describe it is an exact cross between Full Throttle and Twisted Colossus (as others have before). That is exactly what it feels like, however it is less intense than either of those coasters. This coaster definitely falls into the “family” category for me (despite its absurd 54” height requirement). I actually thought the interaction between the trains was great. The fact that they shuffle throughout the course (like TC) is exciting. This is one of the rides where racing/dueling makes the ride fun. Twisted Colossus is still awesome even when it doesn’t duel, but I don’t think I could say the same for this coaster. My favorite moments were the high five, the top gun stall (which is nice without a net, might I add), and the final corkscrew crossover near the brake run. None of the launches are particularly intense, but I think this is the perfect coaster to introduce launches to someone who has never experienced one. Overall love the coaster and think it fills a nice gap in the lineup, despite its similarities to two other coasters in the park. I wish the height requirement weren’t 54” (isn’t Ice Breaker 48”, and it has the same trains?). In terms of thrill level, I place it alongside higher-thrill family coasters like Ninja, Revolution, or Apocalypse. I will also add that the area around the ride is excellent and is a VAST improvement to what the area used to be since Deja Vu’s removal. I won’t make it back to the park until March, but now that this coaster is essentially open, I may actually make an effort to visit that corner of the park now. It will help distribute crowds and balance out coaster placement in the park.
  17. I just wanted to pop in this thread and say that I had a FANTASTIC time at Six Flags Over Texas on Saturday. The park exceeded my expectations greatly. I was worried about one train operations, ride closures, bad weather, and more, given the time of year. So many things could have gone wrong, but I guess I got REALLY lucky. Batman, Titan, Shockwave, New Texas Giant, and even Judge Roy Scream were all running two trains and dispatching very well. Mr. Freeze was running just one side, but I was just thrilled it was open! The park also looked fantastic for HITP, and every coaster and flat ride was up and running. It could not have gone better. We also purchased a Flash Pass, which definitely helped for rides like La Vibora and Joker. Oddly enough, I think Mr. Freeze is my favorite coaster in the park. NTG is good, but Freeze has that crazy intensity that I love in coasters. I couldn’t get enough of that ride. NTG was about what I expected. You can tell it was the first RMC, but it’s still a fun ride. It was mild enough that my mom actually rode it and liked it a lot (which cannot be said for other RMCs). Overall I love this park. We also got a chance to visit SFFT on Sunday, which I also loved. Both Texas parks get two big thumbs up from me. Either I got very lucky, or people complain about these two park way too much that it lowered my expectations. I can’t wait to go back to again! Thanks to those who gave me some tips beforehand.
  18. I feel like Anaconda has a few years left. Do we know if the Vortex trains were sent to Kings Dominion?
  19. I'm sorry, what? I am very confused. There is no possible way that string of words can form a coherent sentence. In other words, my last coaster was GhostRider on Nov 26th.
  20. Yay! The time has finally come! I'll be at SFOT and SFFT next weekend, so I unfortunately cannot go the first days. But I plan on going on the 26th! I love that I will finally ride this ride... 6 days before 2019 ends! lol And yeah, I think a very large majority of guests at SFMM have a membership or season pass, so it definitely isn't "exclusive." I anticipate long lines and heavy crowds during the preview. It's basically open at that point.
  21. Wow, I hadn't realized how cheap the Flash Passes are at SFOT, even on that Saturday (12/21). They're only $40 and $65 for Regular and Gold, respectively. We definitely may do that just to ensure we can ride what we want in those 8 hours, then drive down to SFFT Sunday morning and spend the day there, then drive back home to CA on Monday and Tuesday. This trip was very spur-of-the-moment, but I'm getting excited now. Hopefully both parks have most of their rides running since we're only spending one day at each. If not, it's still better than not going at all. They're both brand new parks for me. Any other tips (for either park) would be appreciated. It'll be our first time in Texas!
  22. Thanks for the tips. The good news is we're driving (and my family is driving independently from my marching band), so we have lots of flexibility. If we have a great 8 hours at SFOT and do everything, we may even pop down to SFFT on Sunday before driving home on Monday. I guess we'll just play it by ear when the time comes. Regardless, I'm excited to get on New Texas Giant and Mr. Freeze. Those are two coasters I've been wanting to ride for years now!
  23. ^Great news, thanks. I'm traveling with my university marching band, and our bowl game is in Frisco, TX this year. I already have a Six Flags membership so I'd be stupid not to take an extra day or two and visit SFOT for the first time! I'm hoping for good weather and open rides. EDIT: Also, should I expect heavy crowds that Saturday? Would those 8 hours they're open (2pm-10pm) enough to ride everything, or would I wanna go back on Sunday? I really only care about riding all the major coasters. I can skip a kiddie coaster or two, I'm not a whore. I also wouldn't really care if I skipped Joker since I've ridden other Free Spins. Is that enough time to do everything?
  24. For the locals: There is a chance I will be visiting SFOT for the first time next Saturday (the 21st). From my understanding, every coaster runs for Holiday in the Park except Mr. Freeze, right? That's what their website implies but I honestly don't trust most Six Flags websites when it comes to accuracy. I figured asking TPR people is much more reliable. Thanks!
  25. Nice report! It's crazy how imposing Iron Gwazi is on the skyline. It almost looks like a Giga coaster!
