TPR 2018 Coaster Poll Results!
ytterbiumanalyst replied to A.J.'s topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Sorry to screw up the even sweep but... you know... there was this blue thing across the park. Same here. Steel Vengeance is great, but there's only one reason I'm going to Cedar Point-- to ride the FUTURE!!! -
TPR 2018 Coaster Poll Results!

Yay, my home park has the #3 wooden coaster! It's really great still after 6 seasons, totally deserved. -
Of course! Glad to help. I don't think the Mercy picnic has been well publicized unless you work for the company (my wife does). Advance Trailblazer is a good idea. The Mercy picnic day is one of the few they have a real chance at selling out. There's lots of indoor seating. Off the top of my head, the Mill, Mine, and Wagon Wheel restaurants on the square have indoor seating, as does Percy's in Midtown. Crossroads Pizza and Riverfront BBQ, both near Outlaw Run, have indoor seating, and the House of BBQ at Red Gold Heritage Hall is also indoors. I think that's all of them, might be forgetting one. Weather has been awful recently, even had a few deaths in the storm yesterday. This weekend is looking great though. Keep in mind the cave may still be flooded even if the surface isn't, but they have a tour that goes higher up and still gives you a good view of all the major features, just from above rather than below. Still great. You'll have a good time.

Saturday the park is hosting Mercy Health System's company picnic. It's the second largest employer in the Ozarks, behind only Walmart, and thousands of Mercy people will be there. We have morning and evening ERT so getting there at opening isn't going to help you. It's also going to be great weather on the opening Saturday of Bluegrass and BBQ, and SDC is known for its barbecue sauce. Get a Trailblazer. No question. Sunday should be far better; you may be ok without a Trailblazer. Powder Keg's line moves the slowest, but Time Traveler will be the longest wait. At this point I'm still recommending everyone go straight to Time Traveler. Also, I haven't seen this yet this spring, but I have no doubt American Plunge's line is going to be awful this year. This weekend we're looking at upper 70s, so we're getting to that threshold where people begin to consider water rides en masse. With Lost River down, you can be sure the flume will be hopping. House of BBQ is the special festival restaurant. It's in Red Gold Heritage Hall in the Grand Expo (top right corner of the map). Otherwise all of SDC's food is great. Pick a style you like, and you'll love it. Eat cinnamon bread. Take the cave tour (with all the recent rain, they may take the flood route; still worth it).

Help with Canadian coaster trip.

I'd pick Knoebels over La Ronde 8 days a week. -
"Taste the love all over the world!" Great report. Totally agree with you on Great Bear. I don't get the hate. It's a fantastic ride. Awesome that they had a Kosher food truck. I'm not Jewish, but Kosher food is the best. It just tastes great. Hersheypark is always a good time, and good on ya for going to Skyrush first. It's one of the best coasters anywhere and absolutely worth a trip to Hershey by itself. Fortunately there are so many more things to do there too, including Chocolate World.

Hahaha, ok. Yeah, a mall twice as far from me. Good rec there. I love Minnesota for the natural beauty, the friendly people, the cool summer weather that is a welcome relief from muggy Southern heat. I also love New Jersey, but more in the sense that I can't look away from the train wreck happening all around me. It's an amusing and fascinating place, and I can't believe it actually exists. Yeah, I'd go back to New Jersey

What is your next park?

First park of the year other than SDC will be Six Flags St. Louis next weekend! I think my son may be tall enough for Batman now (he's very close at least). He's been staring at that one for years, so hoping! -

This is fine. I'm sure they've done their homework and found that no one was rushing to those rides first thing anyway. -
What song are you listening to?

Mega trip(v.1) photo trip report.
ytterbiumanalyst replied to thrillrider's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Great photos, especially of Port Orleans Resort. That's the one that appeals the most to me when we finally get to Disney World, both for the affordability and the amenities. Hopefully the Skyride will help with the transit issues around the resort so long waits for a bus are a thing of the past. -

Oh man, that is so great. The name, the keg stand.... These are some pretty fun guys who make some pretty fantastic beers too. -
Lol at what you consider "actual media outlets." How about like Dallas Morning News or one of the TV stations, ec tetera. Anyway this is dumb. I have no doubt HFEC would be interested in buying this park for the right price, but that's beside the point. That the three parks in question are the three ground-up SF parks is a dead giveaway this came from an enthusiast's wet dream and not any actual plans. Get over it, guys, the days of Six Flags being a theme park are over.
