  1. I assume phone calls have been made. Which one of those three is getting loaded onto a truck as we speak?
  2. DCA isn't competing against Disneyland, though. If that 2:1 figure is because everyone who was going to get a 2-day ticket to Disneyland is now getting a 3-day ticket and spending the additional day at DCA, I'd think they would be pretty happy about that. Obviously I don't have granular data like that, but I think it's safe to say that no one is going to DCA and not to Disneyland. So the expectation should be that DCA will have a fraction of the attendance Disneyland does. The way to get that closer to parity is by pushing Park Hopper and Maxpass and thereby encouraging people to treat the two parks more like a single park. They're not competing against each other of course. But some people do actually do what you've said and go to DCA and not Disneyland, but the number isn't too large because of the difference in quality and fame of the two parks. I've had a number of people come visit me out here that want to go to Disney for a day but are not spending $200 on a park hopper so they choose one park. Most have chosen Disneyland but there was one group who wanted to do DCA, and that was only because they were running a promotion. Oh man, anecdotal evidence? Wow, if I had known you were gonna bring the big guns....
  3. Looks like it goes with this one: http://parallel49brewing.com/street_kitchen#

  5. Awesome, have fun with that! It's the best enthusiast event, and by that I mean the highest percentage of attendees have showered.
  6. They really don't have a lot of coupon codes. Fortunately, every ticket gets you in the previous day at 3pm (or 5pm on a day that closes at 9 or later). Yes, there's a couple dollars difference for purchasing online, but if you're getting a Coke discount, that's probably more than the online discount anyway. Do the cave tour. Eat cinnamon bread.
  7. I believe that's the first time I've ever seen those words in that order.
  8. Oh awesome! Glockenspiel + new bar > giga.
  9. You're not wrong, and trying to get to work or do anything practical at all is horrific on transit, but if you're going between the touristy areas on the light rail, it's pretty decent. Basically the only people for whom Metro works at all are tourists.
  10. Northwest side, not quite to St. Charles. There's light rail between the airport and downtown, so you really would only need to rent a car for just the day you're going to Six Flags.
  11. The Arch is in the very centre of the city, and Six Flags is on the edge of what can be considered the St. Louis metro. You'll find a good variety of decent hotels downtown, a lot are pretty cheap unless there's a big event going on (like the Cubs being in town 5/31-6/2). Forest Park is pretty great (zoo, art museum, planetarium), but there's not much going on there in the evening. Grant's Farm is really cool and is open until 10 on Friday evenings. They give 2 free beers to all adults, and free admission. Just have to pay for parking (or there's a city bus from downtown if you don't want to drive). I'd pick Grant's Farm myself.
  12. So we're hearing rumours that Galaxy's Edge will have a fastpass-type system to enter the land after the reservation system ends in late June. Seems like a decent way to do it. 13. Happy birthday! We have one of those cherry trees. For about a week, it's the greatest sight, then it decides it's pretty good with being normal the rest of the year. Gotta enjoy it while you can!
  14. I believe you have discovered the concept of the "one hit wonder."
  15. We have just discovered a new brewery, Crown Valley in Ste. Genevieve, Mo. The Antique Amber is a slightly sour American ale, while the blackberry cider is a delightfully semi-sweet cider, reminiscent of St. James Winery's blackberry wine but a bit drier and of course more cidery. Several more varieties arrived in our local Macadoodle's, so we will be getting more from this brewery soon!
  16. No one cares whether a coaster is unique. They have 3 coasters and several good thrill rides. That's plenty.
  17. I loved Goliath, second best ride in the park after Colossus. That queue is long but also really cool. With all the bamboo insulating you from the rest of the park, you really get lost in another world. That's the point of theme parks, and for once, Six Flags succeeded on that goal.
  18. Sounds like a good move for them. Those indoor waterpark hotels are always a hit with families, their target demographic. Should be a nice fit.
  19. Nice! Glad you enjoyed your trips to Discount Sea World. I need to get there; looks like my sort of place. Especially the Dolphin Plash Zone.
  20. Awesome! Glad you liked Q39 too, that's a great place, in a town with many, many great BBQ places.
  21. Oh wow, that sounds really great. Who doesn't love a Disney villain?
