  1. Yeah, that's pretty standard practice. I work in the travel industry, and it's what's known as a flex policy. Basically guests are allowed to change or cancel a reservation free of any penalties, since it's out of anyone's control. I actually have quite a bit of experience with the business side of Disney resorts, and they're one of the best in the industry at taking care of their guests.
  2. I haven't had much experience with the hardcore Disney fans but I came across a sponsored blog post on Facebook yesterday that was basically 2 pages of non-stop whiny, entitled bitching. Based on the comments it seemed to be a trend, I might actually find coaster enthusiasts easier to stomach than these Disney people. Yeah, I came across a lot of those when doing research for my post-WCB Disneyland visit. Really makes you appreciate TPR and all the effort that goes into weeding those people out. There's a lot of whining and complaining here, but when you look at some other sites, you realize how much worse it could be.
  3. Hmm, that seems pretty far out of the way for what's there. Okay, ride the heck out of the Knoebels one then.
  4. 0/10 for being a naked link. I don't click on it if you don't tell me what it is. Toronto Blue Jays
  5. Yes, we have two! Have you ever carved anything out of wood?
  6. Arnolds Park, Okoboji, Iowa
  7. "Don't Let Me Down"--Chainsmokers
  8. Yeah, DCA was a lot more relaxing. There was a lot to do there, but it didn't feel like too much.
  9. Very true statement. Dollywood and Magic Springs are no where near comparable. . . The are seriously polar opposites. They're both on hilly terrain. I haven't been to many hilly parks. Okay, well in that way they are the same. They're also both in the South.... And yeah, that's it.
  10. ^ Agreed! I loved Poltergeist when I was at Fiesta Texas back in 2004 (really need to make another trip down there...), but I feel like this ride type really shines when it's enclosed. Flight of Fear at Kings Island was a great experience; that spaghetti bowl in the dark is really awesome.
  11. I've only ever ridden the Larson flyers, and from what I understand, that means basically that I haven't ridden any flyers. I know Knoebels has the Bisch-Rocco ones, and I'm very much looking forward to trying those out. Anyone else in eastern PA or NJ have a Bisch-Rocco flyers?
  12. I too was impressed with how easy exchanging the voucher for the ticket really was. The main gate was my introduction to what would become a recurring experience at DL and DCA: long lines that kept moving steadily and ended up being much shorter waits than they would appear to be. I loved that just about everybody seemed to be having a blast there. I'm not used to seeing that sense of wonder and discovery at a theme park. Usually most guests are local and familiar with the park. But at Disney most guests are experiencing the park for the first time, like I was, or else like you were, experiencing it for the first time in a while. It adds an extra special layer to the experience.
  13. ^ I'd say that opinion is very unfair to Dollywood. When I think of Dollywood, I think of great food, great shows, efficient operations, and friendly staff. At Magic Springs, there are no shows, the staff will get around to starting a ride someday, and just approaching a food service location and proposing an exchange of currency for some food is unsafe for those with high blood pressure. Crystal Falls is legitimately a great waterpark, and that's how I set the expectation with my kids: That we were going to a waterpark that also has some rides. I have nothing but good things to say about Crystal Falls. I just would never consider visiting Magic Springs when Crystal Falls isn't open.
  14. Well, there's really two considerations here. On the one hand, Magic Springs without Crystal Falls is unredeemably terrible. We went in the summer and had a good time, but that was only because of the waterpark. On the other hand, this is also a park that seems to be removing rides every year, so it's a matter of getting there before it's completely gone. X-Coaster is unique in the US, and it is actually fun. Capacity is awful, and operations are awful, but once you actually get to ride it, it is good. It also cannot be moved, so it's going to be scrapped when they finally decide to get rid of all the rides--and that day is coming. So weighing that, I'd say go. You want to ride X-Coaster for the uniqueness of the experience. You do not want to ride anything else there. Screw getting credits. You really do not want to ride anything that is not X-Coaster. Trust me on this. Just spend all day riding X-Coaster, leave happy, and never go here ever again.
  15. Lol, yeah, that's basically how it's used. For me, something is confirmed when someone in management at a park or manufacturer says something in an official capacity (press release, official Twitter, website banner, etc.). I've had it happen to me several times when discussing things that are not confirmed, and I point out that it's not confirmed, only to be told "Of course it is, look at this website." Leaves me thinking "who the hell is that guy to be able to confirm anything?" But logic is a scarce resource these days.
  16. If I had to pick just one, it'd be this one:
  17. I'll say yes. I've only been in the one, Walking Dead at USH. I was very scared all the way through and came out with a big smile. It was very fun! Do you plan to buy the Playstation 4 Pro?
  18. Herman Melville
  19. A tree, absolutely. There's nothing like being outside in the cool shade of a tree--especially when said tree is in a theme park! Wine or beer?
  20. ^ Yeah, you definitely need to go to Pink's. The menu is limited of course, compared to the dozens of varieties that the Hollywood location has, but it's very good stuff, and one of the best places to eat in the park. Last year Coastermania took place during Brews & BBQs, so make sure you get to that too!
  21. So the Cardinals' season is done, and we miss the playoffs after making it 5 times in a row (with two WS appearances). If I'm going to be honest, they didn't play like a championship team. Too many games given away by errors, and no way to score other than the home run. It's been a frustrating year.
