  1. I'm sure we can all agree this only counts as a credit for the first 8 rows.
  2. I still believe it will open in 2016. There's still time to finish it before the year is done, and if you don't think about it, this would be the perfect time to have a Winterfest with no marketing at all, just before Christmas. It's happening folks. It's really more likely they open it in 2016 than any time in the future.
  3. ^^ I love Xcelerator, even more than Top Thrill Dragster. That launch is something else.... And yes, Mickey's Fun Wheel lived up to its name. It was slightly freaky, but very fun indeed!
  4. Nintendo land might not be for you. As much fun as USH was, I would love to go to the Japanese version. One of these days, we do plan to get there.
  5. ^ I approve. The Verve are very underappreciated.
  6. Sweet! For the uninitiated, Dragon Quest is made by the same company that makes Final Fantasy, and like its more famous sister series, was a Nintendo exclusive in the 80s and early 90s. Later entries have been on both Nintendo and Sony consoles. Whereas Final Fantasy often explores mature and apocalyptic themes, Dragon Quest sticks to more classic dragonslaying. It's a very family friendly series, and consequently a great choice for a theme park. I wouldn't expect it to come to the US parks, though; Dragon Quest has a niche following here, but it's a cultural phenomenon in Japan.
  7. I never rode Mantis, but I thought the first half of Rougarou was great. After the brakes, it just kind of meandered, and that hurts it a bit in my rankings. It was good overall, but I've got Wildfire at home. Rougarou is bigger, but as a result it doesn't have the same intensity.
  8. SDC's been about to get a dive coaster ever since Busch Gardens built their two. I think you need a new Dippin' Dots guy.
  9. Well, see, clearly they don't have Jesus around to tell them.
  10. I don't know, they could claim a ton of records with I-Box too, like for example "Closest RMC to Lake Erie" and "Most Northerly Hybrid Coaster on the Cedar Point Peninsula." That of course in addition to the records of tallest, fastest, and steepest coaster Cedar Point opened in 2018, which we already know they're claiming. Since we know records are all about marketing, perrhaps they could start giving awards for the marketing procedure itself. And with that I propose: The Oscar Wilde Award for Being Talked About and Not Being Talked About
  11. Holiwood Nights info is up! http://www.holidayworld.com/shows-events/holiwood-nights/
  12. I hear you. What we're getting here is a rain/snow mix, with a high of 45 so it rains during the day, then falling below freezing so all that rain can turn into ice and remove cars from the roads. Not a great weekend to be travelling....
  13. ^ I think I may have been to that same restaurant, just outside the palace, which you could see through the window. First time I had escargot! I'm a fan of good calimari, so I enjoyed it. Anyway, a dry wine--been a while. My wife doesn't really like the dry ones, so we usually buy semi-sweet or fruit wines. Missouri makes some good Rieslings (we have a very large German population here). When was the last time you had a hot mead?
  14. 5/10 Not a fan of doughnuts, but you get 5 points for spelling it right! Licorice
  15. That's an interesting question. Well, the last time I was in a foreign restaurant was in 2009 when I visited Paris, but I can't say any of that was really unexpected. I expected great wine and I got it! So, back in 2006 in the Czech Republic our tour bus stopped at a roadside diner, and I ordered the sausage and dumplings. It came with a kind of mushroom gravy which was absolutely amazing, and I've never been able to find anything like it in the States. When was the last time you petted an animal?
  16. ^ We went to see Rogue One yesterday, and I really agree. This is the absolute best of any Star Wars movie after the original trilogy without a doubt--and maybe even better than the originals. I'll need to digest, but I think my ranking would go 5/Rogue One/6/4/7/3/all the rest are crap. The storytelling is amazing, and the ending is emotionally moving. I won't say any more, because I don't want to spoil anything. But if you've been on the fence about it, go see it. Whereas Force Awakens was very much dependent on nostalgia, Rogue One nods to the original but is very much its own story. Go see this; it's one of the best movies of the year. Seriously.
  17. Haven't listened to this in a long time, but for some reason it got stuck in my head today, so I had to revisit. Enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TDkhl-CgETg
  18. I am one who always hits up a dark ride if a park has one. Disney is leagues ahead of everyone else in this category, so naturally they have most of my favourites. Disney (Disneyland Anaheim unless otherwise noted): 1. Pirates of the Caribbean 2. Haunted Mansion 3. Mr. Toad's Wild Ride 4. Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage 5. Toy Story Midway Mania (DCA) Non-Disney: 1. Calico Mine Ride (Knott's Berry Farm) 2. Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey (USH) 3. Justice League: Battle for Metropolis (SFStL) 4. Transformers (USH) 5. Flooded Mine (SDC)
  19. Right, yeah, let's totally judge how customers will respond to Patriot before it even opens....
