We're platinum members too, and they haven't said anything to us either. St. Louis City and St. Louis County are going to start a mandatory stay at home order starting tomorrow, so it's getting real here. Eureka is on the Western edge of St. Louis County, so this is really out of Six Flags' hands now.

Funniest Ride Experiences
ytterbiumanalyst replied to Coasters 4 ever's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It goes like this: "I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain." -
I want to become a ride op.

Everybody's got to start somewhere. Theme parks are a great first job. As soon as Six Flags has their hiring fair, apply! Employers aren't going to care as much about your gimmick as they are about reliability. They will want to know if you have reliable transportation and anything else in your schedule that could conflict with work. For an entry level job like this, you're basically going to be convincing them in the interview that you can: - Show up on time, every time - Learn the job quickly and correctly - Follow procedures exactly and consistently - Ask for help when needed and not be a know-it-all, but also not try to tell them how to run their business either - Be willing to do anything they ask you to do, no matter how unpleasant, and never say "it's not my job" If you can do those things, you'll gain some great work experience. -
Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said

So...have you been this worked up for five months? It's just a little unusual to revive a thread that's had no posts since November with a rant that ends with "We're done here." -
What is your next park?

I hate to break it to you, but I don't think any parks in the US are going to be open for Autism Day this year. I know it sucks. My son has Autism too, and he's not taking it well either. It's just how it is this year. I do encourage you to apply at Six Flags, and when they can open, I'm sure they can find a place for you. Just keep in mind it will probably be May or June before any parks can open. -

Your phase? 5 months ago??? -
That's the first I've heard of any park giving compensation for the park being closed. I imagine most parks will give perks of some sort for us not being able to use our already-purchased season passes for half the season, but it's a little easier for Knott's with their being year-round to just extend it. Good on them!

Can someone smarter than me explain as to why a malaria pill would even do anything? The two diseases have some wildly different symptoms. Or are we at the "nothing else has worked, let's pull a pill out of a hat and try it" phase? The article 3Mutts linked to explained it. The malaria pill worked on SARS back in 2003, and Covid-19 is very similar to SARS, so it was a good candidate.

^^ Sorry to hit a sore spot. Totally not my intention. I think a lot of us who have seen that things are always worse than the authorities who are telling us to move along, there's nothing to see here, and also always better than the panicking people saying the world's about to end, are looking for something, anything, to hang our hats on to say see, something good came out of it. Even if that something is as dumb as a yeti getting fixed when it in no way needed to, well there's our ray of sunshine. And you're right, this isn't the dumb thing we were looking for. It'll be there. It always is.

Thanks for the perspective, Zach. I haven't seen that media portrayal down here in the Ozarks, but I have no doubt it's different in STL. I'm sure you heard Springfield lost an officer this week, at a gas station where I am a regular customer too. So much sh*t in this world before the virus, this is just compounding things. Stay safe. We'll get through this.

I've always assumed it was the biggest attraction at Animal Kingdom and guests would be really upset if it were closed, so they were always afraid to close it just for an animatronic. But yeah, if it's gotta go down for track replacement, then the yeti should be part of that work. It's not like people don't notice the yeti. It's huge. It's HUGE!
