  1. Whoa. Never heard of this park before. First, 12 coasters, opened 2014.....with more under construction? What on Earth its like RCT come to life!!! Also some of these coasters seem cool. Esp this hyper. That looks awesome as hell
  2. Voyage. What a ride. And if you are ever lucky enough to get a night ride with no MCBR, back row. Just wow. No experience like that.
  3. Thanks for all the tips! Esp for confirming that even with early access, 2 rides is all you can expect from SV and then is filled all the rest of the day. I will end up caving and getting fast pass, even if the park ends up being not crowded. Sucks, but I want more than 2 rides on SV. Only good news is maybe I can get a cheap hotel and forego the hour early due to having fast pass. Dumb question, the plus has no limits correct? Either on total number of rides or a number per certain? Interesting. Yeah, it certainly can be inconsistent but I'd say far more often than not I had good rides over bad, and a handful I've had the violent ejector, often to the point of needing to hold on. Maybe I've done the seatbelt trick without realizing it before, usually I tend to keep it a tad looser so chances are that's why I end up with the leg smashing airtime on Magnum Sad to hear for you it's been running awful, hopefully this wont be the case for me. CP only had 2 actually bad rides for me, Corkscrew and Mean Streak, so Id hate for Magnum to fall. Gatekeeper...last year I rode it front row at like 6 am. I felt nothing, it was slow and boring, 0 force. But then later in back row I found it very enjoyable and had serious pull. Rode it two more times each good. So I dont know if it was the fact it was so early and hadnt warmed up, or being in front, or both, but lesson learned only back on Gatekeeper! If I get more of that experience, I'd say its top 5 at CP.
  4. Same! I have noticed the exact same, the threshold for "rough" is getting lower it seems, and I've always been annoyed by people griping about the rattle, to the point of calling it rough or even it ruins the ride. Sad indeed
  5. I love it as well. Nothing spectacular, ya know what to expect but its a fun, usually air filled ride. I do avoid the absolute back row, where I usually ride woodens, and make sure to get a not wheel seat but yeah as of last year I still enjoyed it.
  6. I enjoy the Vekoma flyers actually so yeah. Thanks yall. Its kinda silly more I think about it, and will cost more, but well....I'll be in Charlotte and have a full day to kill. Instead of just going home why not make my layover all day and get in Fury
  7. Great topic. Obvious answer is CP but that seems unfair there's so much. It's like a 1-2-3 (now 4) punch flurry. So I'll go with Kentucky Kingdom: Storm Chaser and Lightning Run is a superb 1-2. Top 15 coasters, and LR prob will make my top 10 with some time now to think about it. Honorable mention to Hersheypark
  8. That I've been on (Missed the infamous Drachen Fire and X2 was closed when I went) Anaconda Slow, boring and rough. Least Great American Scream Machine and Viper did stuff. Corkscrew so small it wasn't soooo bad The runaway trains I tend to enjoy, as do the Suspended coasters which I've not found rough. Vortex, that certainly rivals Anaconda for worst But Anaconda has it all: Its rough, its slow (my god it just crawls through everything post MCBR and even for arrow standards those corkscrews such) and just boring...kills off all the speed, dumb layout, with all that classic arrow awkwardness, boring. Ugh what a terrible ride.
  9. I mean, I liked Gatekeeper, and to this day one of my top rides continues to be MForce the perpetual butt of jokes and sincere insults from the enthusiast community, sooo idk about all that. Ya wanna you know, feel the ride. Banshee was great, fun ride and as someone who values layout I did really appreciate that part of it. But well, it did feel like a lot like flying smoothly through the air which well you can get that on a lot of things. I mean you say to each their own but then judge everyone who's opinions disagree Very enthusiast thing to do. Personally I find it a bit silly that you find forcefulness a drawback and think a classic like Raptor is a "thing of the past" (but its here still and highly regarded?)
  10. Finally added some new ones, Montu and Banshee 1: Batman the Ride 2: Raptor 3a: Dueling Dragon Ice (Yes, it will forever be D.D.) 3b: Dueling Dragon Fire 4: Banshee 5: Great Bear Banshee, I expected more. All I heard was how its an old school, super forceful B&M and while fun, eh can't say it was what I expected. Montu for that matter, I found quite lacking in force. The backseat had some pull, front seemed forceless Alpengeist I rode in 2000, I really cant say I remember it
  11. Sooooo Im going for the ridiculous, 3 parks in 3 days. I realized my layover (like always) is in Charlotte. So I am gunna fly in early and leave late and sneak in a day at Carowinds! What type of crowds could I expect on a Sunday in late Aug, (the 25th)? Is it possible to get multiple rides on Fury and do a good amount of the park, all the essentials, without fast pass. As always Im no cred whore, I am ok with skipping the boomerang, wild mouse, the family rides are deff being skipped. Ideally would like the rest, but ya know...am open to skipping nighthawk or the B&M stander though Id like to hit em.
  12. Sweet thanks! Sounds like its best to go to exterminator immediately, get it done and not worry about its lines all day and hopefully the rest will be fine
  13. Ah good to know. Even plus? Which is the only way to get it for SV I see... Seriously, I never used fast pass before this year. Ive always avoided it. Yes, I know its an enthusiast thing to knock big parks and fetishize small (dont get me wrong, I love small parks) but fact is the big ones are: big. They provide alot, and CP is the best. The quantity AND quality they offer is untouched. And hell one of their worst rides has been converted into one of their best. And for such a massive park I always thought it felt clean and fairly "nice". Sure its corporate and it doesnt feel like Knoebels, but compared to lets say any Six Flags park.... And people grip about crowds but cmon, there's a reason small parks dont have crowds lol Either go early or late season, or go over 2 days (or fork out a fast pass I guess which is like a 2nd day)
  14. Nice! See this is what I was hoping for, esp in late August, and yes I'll be there on a Friday. Only thing is, I want multiple rides on SV. I imagine lines have been ridiculous. So Im in a bit of a pickle, fork out the near $100 and risk that for most of the park it will be a waste, or dont but then I may get what 2 rides on SV? And that would likely be during early access hotel hours. I suppose could wait till near then and see what crowds are like BUT I hear fast pass also can sell out and dont want to get shut out. Ugh idk!
  15. Hmmmm I believe Thunderhawk at Dorney. 1924 I think? Its deff the oldest on my list
  16. Well, I am FINALLY going to KW this year. I feel cursed after last year my rental car broke down Not sure when exactly but it will be late august, and a saturday. Most like Aug 25. I would like a weekday but its when it has to happen. So, what can I expect in terms of crowds? Can locals/those who've been a few times provide any game plan? I would like to do every coaster and as many of the rides as I can. I am willing to skip Exterminator I suppose, though I'd prefer not to. Obviously want multiple rides on Revenge.
  17. I do all the time, almost every time I come here or see comments on line, (or see certain (not all) ones in real life) I have a twinge of questioning my life choices haha The bad apples eh? Well, the Steel Vengeance allure is too powerful. I tried to avoid much review of it, but human nature...I have seen the POVs and some reviews. Also when at KI, KK, HW, there were people at each who have ridden and all raved. So, I am going to CP after all this year, late august. Usually crowds have not been an issue for me then but this time it really doesnt matter, gunna cave and get fast pass plus. I want more than 1-2 on SV and from all I hear even with early access, ya may not get much more. Also I hear spillover to Maverick has made that line even worse, though possibly it keeps people away from the rest of the park. I am still not 100% sure on getting fast pass, esp for that time of year, but I most likely will.
  18. Excellent. The few rider vids Ive seen dont seem to show much airtime or force on them, but as we know POVs are often deceiving. The speed it whips around that track lead to me believe it had to be forceful as hell, and this confirms it CA is happening next year, and this is one the list. May have to get to the less far away Texas to try one of these beasts.
  19. I actually disagree with Dominator, I found it pretty meh. Its so big and fast and the longest floorless coaster, but imo is very short. You do the loop, turns, Cobra Roll (which is a pretty cool layout) but then right into the MCBR. Always found it pretty meh. Shame because that first part is cool, if it did more elements would be great. I agree about the inverts. Great Beat is a superb ride, and Talon is deff one of the better inverts. I always found Hydra fun, but I know its an enthusiast meme...you pretty much have to hate on it. Few have ever told me why, they just lol at it, say its weird or "the roll ruins the whole ride" all of which is silly to me
  20. It sounds like mostly you just aren't into the rides there....if you feel all the coasters are short/unrideable/overrated why did you go?? Anyway fun language and all but where were you held prisoner and what went past the posted time? The lightning wasn't thaaaaat long, and we just chilled outside for most of it. Also was the lightning reeeeallly 40 miles away? It certainly seemed way closer than that, and frankly usually the radius for such things is smaller, like 5 or 10 miles. Anyway, sounds like you don't really like the coasters there, think the lodging is overpriced and were pissy there was lightning nearby (which is not exactly anyone's doing) doesn't seem like you can really hold it against the park. Posts like this are why I call myself a hobbyist, I dont want to be associated with certain enthusiasts and this is a great reason why
  21. Finally! Looks like such a sick ride, and now I am a little more torn if I am gunna do CP later this year or a grand CA trip
  22. I mean, I know this is not an enthusiast thing to say I try not to nick pick. Im a nerd, I like ranking stuff and numbers, and thats just how I am, and its a fun way for me to kill some time, but in all reality SV vs Voyage and all that, whatever. When they're good they're good. No doubt voyage night ride though, eats and defecates out beast. That was fun and all, but wowzers. Besides the intensity I think Voyage was even darker. Getting whipped around that spaghetti bowl in near pitch darkness was something else.
  23. The blue ice cream was awesome! As was Red Creme Soda, which was new to me and I am now very sad its apparently a regional thing, because it was delicious.
  24. Oh that explains it! We were about to bolt at 12 after our "last" ride but saw people were still getting on so we did one more. I didn't know they extended it! Though personally it was such an epic weekend (I did KI and KK as well) I was beat and ready to call it a trip. It was both awesome and terrifying riding voyage with the lightning, it seemed quite close at times and racing through the pitch black with lightning flashes over head...that was an experience. I cant attest to the past but at least as of this past weekend, I really didn't find Voyage that bad at all. It was not smooth, but it wasn't terribly rough, both Legend and esp Raven were worse. Esp with the trims on, I was able to do 4 in a row and felt fine. A little rattled but way better than the trim-less rides, which were awesome but that second half was borderline too wild. By the end of ERT my back was sore.
  25. The Voyage, untrimmed a tad after midnight
