  1. Yeah, seriously. I get it's hard to move 2 coasters so that makes sense to remove those rides and use as expansion. As for Kong, it was brand spanking new (apparently soft opening new) when I went. Didn't realize this but it was like the first week. So maybe it still had kinks to work out, the ride stalled a lot of times and the actual ride underwhelmed me. Maybe it would've been better if there were less issues, on my ride it stopped (like everything shut off and we sat in the dark) 3 times, and twice it started back up not in sync, like we heard the next part happening and it was over by the time we should've been there and thus it was quiet....till the next part I am sure it was still being worked out is all.
  2. Just heard about the closing of Dragon Challenge, just wanted to say that's deeply sad news. Those rides are classic, and sooo good. Maybe not the best inverts, they aren't, but they're fun rides, and along with Hulk is what I think of with IoA. My $ is super tight right now but gunna try to get there for a day at least to ride em one last time.
  3. What!? Something of substance? For a roller coaster construction discussion? Pffffffffffft you crazy
  4. That's really strange, but thanks for reinforcing my decision to stay away from coaster enthusiast events. For whatever reason this comment reminded me of Banshee media day when an overly excited enthusiast kept jumping into the conversation my wife and I were having. I would have probably been nicer had it not been first thing in the morning and it smelled like he avoided showering for several days. There is no excuse for that first thing in the morning. I just kept turning away and ignoring. Yeah not the nicest but i am not always going to be nice. Yeah, have met many friendly, down to earth and normal people at enthusiast events and I'm sure the majority are like this. Buuuuuut deff see some things at events that make you raise an eyebrow, and I have also had the insanely enthusiastic person, who tends to be a tad on the awkward side, who just doesn't seem to get you may not be feeling it....then proceed to stick with ya for the next 14 hours. No shame in ignoring, better than me: I feel kinda bad about this but I did say at one point "Im really beat, Im old man lololol gunna go back to the hotel and nap for 3 hours then come back for night ERT." I stayed in the park and just kept those 3 hours for myself. Mean I guess but seemed meaner to say something, and I did meet back up with em.
  5. Sooo we're looking at minimum 4 inversions, and (hate to be the rain on the parade of speculation) probably 200-230 feet and around 80 mph, long ride....in true CP fashion this will be the biggest, baddest RMC without doubt. I've seen some pics taken from Coastermania and they are absolutely insane. This thing needs to be completed asap
  6. Wow, this thread was bumped? I no longer live in NJ but is this pathetic eye sore still around?
  7. Not sure if it's worth posting a TR because I'm sure there'll be one, which is likely to be better, and I still have to fly home so I'll just say Coastermania was insane. Did every coaster, (including Iron Dragon!), MaXair, Skyhawk, Windseeker and a few other flats. Gatekeeper 3 times, MForce 10 times, TTD 3, Maverick 6 o 7. Amazing experience. I actually was tired/in a lull and left the park for a few hours to nap then come back at 7 for a few more hours/night ERT The park didn't seem terribly crowded, and everyone clustered at Raptor, Valravn, Maverick. Millennium Force shockingly had little line throughout the day. I got 5 rides in morning ERT but then 5 more during the day :O So yeah good stuff. As for the new creds: Gatekeeper. Front row, 7 am. Ride was totally forceless and underwhelming. Rode it twice in back row and it was very forceful. Felt a strong "pull" on most elements. Was actually a pretty good ride. Valravn. Meh. Great drop, immelmann was fun but MCBR basically killed the ride. Alright ride. Should say though, saw JRice and crew in action and people were not kidding. That was the fastest loading and release I've ever seen. If I recall he said "The park has been open for 20 minutes and we've already had 500 rides" Good lord! Major props. Rougarou. Well, it's better than standing Also having gotten to ride MForce and Maverick so many times in a day can say definitively: MForce is still my favorite in the park. Once it got warmed up later in the day, the speed that thing carries...I know what to expect but it still caught me off guard. Also I know it's more a meme, though many enthusiasts seem to totally mean it, but I would not say the ride is forceless, nor does it have 0 airtime. It's not Maverick or Skyrush, but those claims really are false. Also after so many rides on Maverick I felt a bit thrashed, MForce could ride over and over. I didn't really great pics of new Mean Streak others will have better, but that ride is gunna be something else. Already looks great. So yeah, one heck of a day at CP Oh, how could I forget? Got my first ever rollback!!! I was hoping for one because night ERT was plagued with roll backs, there were 2 or 3 just when I was on line, and sure enough we got one. Also had an unexpected launch, after sitting there for a couple of minutes we rolled back, locked, then nothing....then all the lights came on and we took off. Was wild.
  8. Hey all, I'm wearing aPink Floyd t shirt so if ya see me, feel free to say hi. At the gate and stoked
  9. Thank you so much! We all love working for the park. It's literally the best job I've ever had! For those attending Coastermanaia I'll be working Valravn for the morning ERT through 8PM then I'll be making a guest appearance working Top Thrill Dragster for the 10:30pm-12:30am ERT! I'll be there, can't wait to (hopefully) meet you for a moment, and get to see your handy work. I was hoping to knock off Valvravn, Gatekeeper and Rougarou fast as possible to spam MForce in the morning, and seems you'll be a big help Wait, the morning and night ERT??? You are a beast
  10. Ravine Flyer II. Fun ride, but a tad less than I expected, and a good bit rough. View was amazing though, and the first half was vicious, second half seemed a bit tamed
  11. Waldameer. 24 hours from now I'll be done with hopefully a ton of rides on RFII then off to CP
  12. Wont think about rain because as long discussed, who the hell knows/its volatile but temperature wise, looking like the day will be low 60s to mid 70s aka paradise
  13. Excellent. This changes my plans, and in a good way. Thanks everyone, as always you've helped make my trip planning way better. This is gunna be one helluva day
  14. Awesome! All the way from Texas without a clue. Good job pulling that off up to this point. Have fun! I think you have a good plan. In my experience, Rougarou's line was short all day, so I don't think it's absolutely essential during ERT. However, if it were me, I would definitely do it early anyway. I know it's super reliable, but if it's one you want to ride and have never ridden it before, I'd make sure. It's practially right next to Millennium Force, so it won't take much out of ERT to go ride it. Front row for the smoothest ride, back row outside is always the go to for B&M's most intense seat. I think Maverick is the better choice, since TTD doesn't always open for resort ERT but Maverick does. I went to Maverick and rode it from 9 to 9:45, then ran to TTD at 10, when it opened with the park. Ah excellent, thanks! Glad this is in agreement, in my experience getting to TTD fairly quickly still kept line pretty short. Also I did have a brain fart...just because our ERT is Wicked Twister/Blue Streak from 9-10 doesn't mean we're excluded from Maverick during that time. I mean right? No way/they wont keep coastermania and resort guests separate?
  15. Count me in with the excited folks! Same here, been waaaay too long since I've made a pilgrimage to the point. New creds, and with the ERT I expect a jam packed day. Speaking of, I am trying to figure out a game plan, and I am curious how the lines, in early June, usually are for Rougarou and Valravn. I was thinking of getting Gatekeeper out of the way, then Rougarou, Valravan (which knocks off all new creds) then spend the rest of ERT on MForce. I then would go to Maverick for park opening to beat the crowds, then take the day from there. Question being, is it worth putting Rougarou in there during ERT or should I just wait until during the day? Also, is it worth being at Maverick or TTD for park opening ie better to try and beat the normal crowds for?
  16. ...which, since it is a more abrupt slow down, makes the ride seem slower even though the speed is still the same. I remember Don telling us that during the beast behind the scenes tours at coasterstock in 2016. Ah guess just the different look stood out more to me. Darn that's a shame, my fault for not being more dedicated on going to parks. By the time I finally do rides have been neutered or had some less than ideal change to it. Well I'm sure Beast is still awesome.
  17. How does Beast run these days? In recent POVs it seems to have a lot of trims on. Does it impact the speed at all? Since from what I hear the speed is the biggest draw of the ride. Sooo many rides are neutered by the time I get to them, I really am aiming to get to KI this year so I'd hate for this to be the case for Beast after finally riding.
  18. Yeah that's what I've started doing in recent years. I'll watch it once and that's it. For me, its like an addiction/boredom thing. I just have to know, I love knowing but I also really like being surprised. So yeah I don't wanna have the thing memorized by the time I ride but it's good to have some vague idea. Not that knowing the layout really detracts tooo much for me, and you can always be caught off guard still. I thought POVs of Skyrush (at the time) didn't do it justice. I went thinking it wasn't gunna be anything special, looked not terribly fast and was just airtime hills and turns from the POV. Then the ride kicked my ass and was 1000X more intense and awesome than I expected
  19. Yeah I'm a minimalist traveler, dont carry things around either but I was turned off by US and their "put everything in a box for almost every ride and there's workers and metal detectors in line so dont even try" and was afraid this was becoming common place. It seems that for CP long as its a zipper pocket and you have the bare essentials it'll be fine. I just was worried that it was gunna be mandatory pay for boxes, which honestly I'd imagine most parks will end up at eventually.
  20. As others have said, anything before the mid 2000s as POVs weren't as much of a thing, and they were harder to obtain. Someone mentioned dial up, ugh I remember downloading an alpengeist POV and waiting ages for it! Anything enclosed. The Harry Potter and Mummy coasters at Universal I had no idea they were even coasters. Was really fun to be caught off guard, especially the upward launch on mummy and two moments of surprising air time, as well as the elements those coasters did. Makes me glad I've actually toned down my POV watching it's kind of fun to go into it not really knowing what exactly to expect
  21. And in the enthusiast community I've noticed a good bias towards smaller parks. Dont get me wrong I love em, have a real charm and atmosphere to them but they also offer less. Not that they don't have quality, I mean I'm gunna spend an extra half day to go to Waldameer for RF2, but yeah I don't get the skew toward smaller and dismissal, even bashing, of places like CP. (I get some six flags parks lol) HW and CP had events at the same time and while I wanna visit HW badly, I opted for the point because they have such a vast offering. Seems more worth it to me but that's purely my opinion and to each their own. I had one of the best times ever at Knoebels with TPR, but id also rather go to Hershey ya know?
  22. I recently rode Hulk, and it was extremely smooth. Do you have a very low pain tolerance? It has snappy elements, which may cause you to whack your head, but other than that, it's an amazing ride. Not at all, I actually like rough rides, even ones like Hercules that no one seemed to and I have a normal to good tolerance. Not like this was my first rodeo lol just it was a bad ride I had. And to be fair the coaster IS amazing that's beyond question
  23. Oh it's obvious isn't it? Intamin will build the first lift hill style 400 footer, topping over 100 mph and will be 2 miles in length.
  24. 21. Hmmm seems like it should be higher! All US
  25. Thanks! The danger of checking on phone, usually hurried, dont always see the details.
