Continued. Mostly coaster porn in this update Next update: MORE Arrow rides! Did Tomi (FLIPDUDE) enjoy Magnum? The train looks a bit like a Wacky Worm from this angle This is the most painful part of the ride. It is an Arrow, after all Almost looks like a vertical loop The turnaround at the end has some heavy banking Unlike the other Arrow hypers, Magnum has six cars in each train. Anyone know why Desperado and Pepsi Max only run with five? How many times have we seen this shot on the Discovery Channel? It also passes through the "upcharge" section of the park, separate from the park itself Magnum runs through the waterpark. As far as I know, it hasn't chucked any wheels into it Signature shot! What's that I see through the trees? The queue moved reasonably quickly The queue for Magnum The ride has a lot of the 1980's era "7 segment display" font on the signing Take a few coathangers, add in some gravy buffets, and this is what you get Magnum XL 200 was the first "hypercoaster", and one of three built by Arrow The lap bars are more comfortable than the OTSRs on all rocket coasters built after It doesn't do very much, but it is a "short but sweet" ride It also held a few records before Ka came along, though Erik told me that he thought this ride was better It was the second of the Intamin Rocket Coasters Dragster is probably one of the more difficult credits to get, thanks to the Intamin Curse To top it off, Draggin' Iron is complimented with an Iron Dragon. Who would have thought of that Ryan got pounded in the back seat There is an urban legend out there that a train collided with a concrete support. This is false, especially considering that the supports are steel. And on the second day, they had three trains running relatively smoothly The ride-ops had earned some awards The ride vehicles look similar to conventional Arrow cars. Arrow once said that they decided to "take the Corkscrew chassis, flip it upside down and hang something under it" This ride has flame decals too, but the ride just drags along It does look somewhat pretty On the first day, they were only running one train Draggin' Iron is an Arrow suspended, an increasingly rare breed of coaster, after losing XLR8 and the conversion rides like Vampire to floorless trains. Another Arrow, another credit -

CP Continued. I didn't have many pictures of the power outage. When I got off the bus, I went up to our room and tried to take a nap. I didn't fall asleep until after the power turned back on (it takes me a long time to fall asleep if I'm not very tired) To be continued What is it with Schwarzkopf rides and sudden stops? The cars are a little cramped. Casey told me that he didn't even try for the credit Wildcat is an old Schwarzkopf coaster What was with these necklaces over by Mantis's station? It also had the most inversions, until Chang and later Riddler broke the records When it was first built, Mantis was the tallest and fastest standup coaster. While in line, Dragster had started back up It's an old school B&M stand-up, first built in 1996 We next headed over to Mantis We enjoyed MilF The ride doesn't have much airtime, but it's big, fast, and smooth. But MilF was what we were waiting for Mantis was cycling empty trains We sheltered for maybe an hour before the rides started running again Of course, we were sheltering by a set of lockers by Millennium Force. It was made even less pleasant by this guy's cigarette smoke. Use the designated smoking area. Please. Unfortunately it started to rain again Cedar Point does have some history that hasn't been paved over At first glance this may look like Dollywood. It's not. Looks like a coathanger transition here Time for another Arrow credit Vertical loop goodness On the second day, the ride was running three trains, which is quite impressive for an otherwise short ride It is one of the older Arrow designs, though this one has a vertical loop too. To Jahan's delight, it was Corkscrew Some moments later, some of the rides started to open. What exactly are we promoting here? 20 more years and that beer could be real (or even less, considering the number of times Robb and Elissa go to countries where the drinking age is lower) I noticed this sign back after returning to the hotel to change into dry clothes. Why don't they like me? -
RCT2: TPR Theme Park
WillMontu replied to WillMontu's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
I have been slowly by steadily making some progress on this park. I've been having problems with the game randomly crashing for unknown reasons. Latest additions: Waterpark rides with Wedgie slides, twisty slide tower, "Corkscrew" slide, looping waterslide, and Lazy River. Some rides will be functional for peep use. Fuji-Queue - An S&S Thrust Air coaster with a four car train and a long line Yeti-Ball Coaster (though currently plagued by the Intamin Curse) 1:1 scale replica of the Disneyland castle In the Seedy Fair section - More trashcans! Attractions in development: Morgan Alert! - A ride based on Steel Dragon 2000 TPR Clubhouse Golden Arches - A Rocket coaster that combines some elements of an Intamin Rocket, a B&M looper, a Premier launched coaster, and an X-Car coaster. The ride is fully built, but I'm having trouble with getting it to work safely without crashing (the blocking system doesn't work due to the mechanism I have in place to handle rollbacks) Dueling Balders - Still have a few glitches to work out with trains stopping on the block brakes, preventing proper dueling Attractions planned: Cooking with Joe restaurant Another Boomerang...or two And now, a few screenshots taken from around the park The corkscrew slides Twisty slide tower The Wedgie Slides One of the water slides Golden Arches rocket coaster. You can see some of the track for "Morgan Alert!" under construction The "Seedy Fair" themed section, showing some flat rides, two coasters, a Power Tower, and a whole lot of trashcans. Jeff Johnson's Credit Land, showing the HSTC ride, a few kiddie coasters, a clone of Abandoned Mine at Uncle Bernies, "Through the trees" (a powered coaster), a ghost train, and Spanish Deja Vu with a station for the "Soarin' over Soren" skyride . More credits to come Death Machine Valley, showing an Invertigo, two Deja Vus (one to serve as a backup when the other breaks down, though sometimes they're both down), a TOGO "Death Machine" stand-up, the Arrow Coathanger coaster, the RCCA "Jackhammer" woodie and part of the Vekoma Death Box coaster Sideloop! Derek's Beer Barrel The SLC with a Bonus Helix! An Intamin launched inverted coaster in the Rides on the Moon themed section. Currently unnamed The Looping Slide still needs some work The Fuji Queue coaster. In the corner you can see the full scale Disneyland castle -
Most Overrated coaster?
WillMontu replied to BlackWidow's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Some rides that I think are overhyped: Voyage (I like rides that I can ride over and over. Voyage isn't one of them. Raven is) Magnum (the airtime is powerful, but also painful, though I was in the third row) Maverick (a bit hard on the neck) -

Cedar Point, home of 17 coasters, 41 drinking fountains, 67 drink machines, 68 rides, and 2000 trash cans. I have reorganized these photos for better organization, though they are not necessarily in chronological order. As with my SFGAm segment, I have broken this up into several segments To be continued A rather common sight that day Some of the smaller rides were actually running, but I was not willing to kidnap someone to get this credit Some of the park is actually decently landscaped Being Cedar Fair, it takes a while for the park to get the rides open after rain Some people, Dan included, went for shelter People continued to wait In weather speak, this is called an SLC. In other words, Scary Looking Cloud Robb told us that Cedar Point has its own weather system It backed up for miles But there was still a line to wait in Maverick had started testing with live riders And they're off... Everyone is lining up for the Running of the Bulls People have started to queue up Outside the hotel is one of the gates to the park The hotel has two choices of views. You can get the coaster side (like at Big Blue at Blackpool Pleasure Beach), or the beach side, complete with trash cans The hotel even has a TGI Fridays, and the bar was a common shelter from the rain Supposedly haunted too While it wasn't the nicest hotel of the trip, it has the most history, and the location can't be beat A while after checking into our rooms, they had the power going again, and all the rides were lit up This meant that we couldn't unload the buses and ended up walking through an old, dark, creepy, hotel. So, what kind of vacancy are we filling? As it turned out, there was no power Upon arrival, something seemed to be going on -

Dont you ever get Scared?
WillMontu replied to Joan_Crawford's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I rarely get scared, unless it's "genuine" fear, such as riding the back seat of Cyclops with only a buzz-bar holding you in. I sometimes have anticipation when riding a coaster, but not fear. There's a similar, though not quite identical, thread at http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=52277#52277 -

I stand at about 6 feet tall, so I'm no Casey. To get the fence shots, I had a mini tripod for my camera, so I used that to "peek" over the fences. I started out by pre-focusing the camera by pointing at something near by, and then setting the time delay so that the camera would fire when I held it above the fence. Here's the rest of MGM, and some shots of Old Town, including a few stitches and video clips Another panoramic Panoramic shot. High resolution versions available Dragster2.wmv Ge-Force Dragster video clip SpectacleOfLights.wmv Spectacle of Dancing Lights video clip I've never done a SkyCoaster before. I'm too cheap The skull-and-crossbones icons are an interesting touch. Have people died on this? Hey James, what do you think of THIS theming? The loading station for the Dragsters That's a big truck It speeds down this track and then reverses, allowing riders to unload at the loading platform It's one of the fastest rides in Orlando, and probably the region Next to Old Town is Fun Spot, home of the 300 ft SkyCoaster and the Ge-Force Dragsters Of course, I doubt that they would actually work if you win them This was interesting. It's a giant claw game, and the prizes are game consoles Erik was even offered a free kid to ride with We're sad and pathetic! I have a POV posted at http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=40216 We got the credit The ride-ops were rotating around various rides, including the coasters Tickets cost $1.00 if paid for individually, though there are bulk discounts. For us, $7 for two new credits is just fine This shot gives a feel for Old Town They have a handful of rides, including a SlingShot Next up was Old Town. A better shot of the tree A nice touch I took this picture in the Fifth Dimension room. Kind of interesting how it came out Going up... We were in the last group of people for the night, and this was as full as the pre-show room got Erik, do you have a reservation at this hotel? Back over to Tower for the last ride of the night Hey Terrance, you got this credit yet? Even more of the lights Is this a new bathroom credit for Erik? -

MGM Studios pictures The main draw in visiting the park was the Christmas lights show. Supposedly they were all taken from one person's house and spread over a large section of the park. In addition, there are fake snowflakes falling and a soundtrack. While the music synchronization doesn't seem to do it as well as the Wizards and Winter display in 2005, the lights were everywhere. I will post a short video soon, along with more pictures. To be continued Donkey credit! Happy Winter Solstice! Here, the trash-cans even compliment the theming (as opposed to Cedar Fair parks, where they ARE the theming) Supposedly all these lights came from one person's house. Must have been a big house...and a huge power bill Now for the Spectacle of Dancing Lights It actually looks somewhat decent at night. Taer it down anyway It's the Toboggan of Death! Good Tower. At night. Through the trees! Compare this to Robb's recent TDL TR While I've yet to ride the Japanese version, the theming here is quite well done. Even with one set of shafts running, wait was minimal GT sign all lit up and nice looking Extra points for the lake catching fire The Fantasmic show It's a Vekoma. What do you expect? It was as smooth as a baby's bottom The marble doors for the S&P line I can't force a smile if I tried We're too Sad and Pathetic to wait 20 (or was it 40) minutes All lit up and looking nice When the sun goes down, Good Tower's sign is the only portion visible Crowds were moderate, but the queues for the rides weren't too bad The big draw this time was the "Spectacle of Dancing Lights". Pictures will follow -

Finally done with SFGAm Also, I don't want to annoy anyone by promoting my other threads, but I have another Photo TR in progress for some of the Orlando parks here Cedar Point will be next, though I have around 300 pictures to post On the stop-off on the way to Cedar Point, I made a roller coaster in the same way that Ron Toomer did Is that the Vekoma bus? Robb couldn't even give away his slightly used shorts Required shot But they won't save you money on car insurance Some of the prizes to be won Robb needs to work on his hand coordination Everyone who wanted to stay at SFGAm was sent out into the rain, and the rest of us stayed under the bridge It started to rain and people started to head for cover It's Wonder Woman! Hi Joe, how's it going? Even Elissa's parents rode The spiral lift is unique. In fact, it's even in RCT It's a classic Schwarzkopf dating back to the Marriot era Time to take a Whiz! A few more shots of our beloved Vekoma masterpiece I think that guy on the left could benefit from Robb's "Sex and water" diet The new Wiggles World Flame decals have been proven to make the trains go faster Although I only count it as one credit, I rode both sides to get the "full" credit With the addition of Wiggles World, getting to this coaster is a bit of a walk They had it racing too The trains have these strange looking shoulder bars Through the trees (I'm sure some of the photographers out there would appreciate this shot) See what I mean? Though it's probably ready for its next paint job That's a lot of paint Brought to you today by The Home Depot. You can do it, we can help. American Eagle was a record breaking coaster for its time -

Continued To be continued (maybe) Everyone fell out Smooth as a baby's bottom? The trains are slightly different from the ones on the newer standups Iron Wolf was the first B&M coaster ever, and it's probably the roughest This one too Of course Terrance got that credit This is the Q-Bot queue for Batman Gravy buffet Unlike most SF rides, it is actually somewhat themed Built in 1992, it was the first ever inverted coaster Batman was next The station was crowded, but the wait wasn't too bad with the Q-bots V2 was next I guess they do Do these count? Batman statue Superman statue: Check Prepare for Air! I prefer the B&M flyers over the Vekoma flyers The rest of the ride is the same though Unlike the ride at SFOG, this one only has a single station, but the trains are one row longer This is where the Q-Bot line started But we had Q-bots It had a really long wait Next up was Superman There are quite a few random statues scattered around the park It's the typical spinning mouse, and a fairly low capacity ride, especially for a park like SFGAm My group then followed Robb and Elissa's advice and headed for the spinning mouse -

I took a few photo stitches also. These are the ones from Universal. Higher resolutions will be posted if there is demand If I get five more responses, I will post the MGM night shots and Old Town Vekoma Skater goodness Inside Universal Studios A complete 360 of the Simpsons store Universal themes their construction walls. If this were Cedar Fair, there would just be a couple of trashcans This is a complete 360 of Citywalk, taken from over by the Hard Rock Cafe -
Being in Florida, I get to hit most of the parks several times a year I will also post a few stitches and videos soon Disney MGM/Hollywood Studios coming soon with a ton of night shots The Sheikra sign on I-4 all lit up This is a required shot Ripsaw Falls was all fenced off. This is a view of the ride taken in CaseyVision OMG! More dirt! OMG OMG OMG OMG! Dirt! Over to Unicorn, the greatest Roller Skater ever The wall by the Cobra Roll is still safe for now Construction on the Dragons castle. Maybe something to do with Potter? The Golden Ticket Awards doesn't carry any credibility Seuss Landing is all decked out Mandatory Hulk shot More Christmas decorations Over to IOA. I don't consider the lap bars to be part of the "future enjoyment" Universal should fix these parking meters and generate a new form of income This one's named after a popular drink As for buildings named for songs... And the hills are burning And the wind is raging And the clock strikes midnight in the Garden of Allah This ride had a five minute wait This Woody isn't a Woodie What a deal! You can still see where the Delorean used to be Some of the construction going on over at Back to the Simpsons Is anyone ever going to post a video of Elissa on Fear Factor? OMG! A dumpster!11 Earthquake was fenced off Mummy had a 10 minute wait (walk-on for S&P line) Are there any parks here that DON'T have Christmas decorations? Not often that one sees the park looking like this I've never noticed this carousel before Universal has their security checkpoint at the entrance to CityWalk, so people only have to go through once to visit both parks Escalator POV! Thought this was an interesting shot Still cheaper than Six Flags This is a good time of year to visit the parks in Florida Getting into Orlando took a while due this semi with a slight dent in the trailer

WillMontu replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I don't have any pictures of me wearing mine yet, but they will come. I got mine yesterday. It fits fine, though I haven't had much of a chance to use it, as the weather is still a bit warm I've got the new zip-up version. I'm not how to get the magic powers working, since I'm in Florida, and there isn't such thing as an off-season. Upon opening it, everything seemed to be okay Although it appears that the US Postal Service wanted to get into it first. Did they want the magic powers? Or just the candy? As with other bags'o'crap from TPR, it came in an innocent looking brown envelope Very hard to come by as I don't like to take pictures of myself. Now I just need to wait for the weather to cool down so I can put it to good use
