  1. If there is anyone who still visits ARN&R, it's still alive, and you guys have been pwned! I wonder why they missed us for Spain/Midwest http://www.absolutelyreliable.com/
  2. Different rides pull different G forces based on the rider orientation. There are positive G's, negative G's, zero G's etc. On B&M flying coasters, the pretzel loop pulls some high G's, but the force is perpendicular to the rider's body. On a looping coaster on the other hand, the force is downward on the rider, which is more likely to cause riders to black out if sustained due to the blood rushing away from the head. Other rides that can pull G's Round-ups Teacup type rides (if you spin them really fast)
  3. Well it's not too bad, though the George Foreman Grill coaster was invented several years ago by Zamperla.
  4. A kid is a young goat, though I'm sure we have some good photos of her out there, such as from the bar at Cedar Point
  5. I've never been a fan of those automated sinks. Urinals are fine (because they actually work most of the time), but the sinks and even towel dispensers at some places just don't work when you want them to.
  6. ^^ Not only does it make cool sound effects, but when you combine it with other keys, other cool stuff happens. There are other neat keys on the keyboard too, such as ".", ",", "?", and "!". It can also help prevent others from deleting your posts as they can read them more easily As for getting a Bandit POV, you might want to check out http://www.themeparkreview.com/videos/volume5.htm
  7. I found this among my Midwest photos. I took this at Kennywood, but all the signs appear to be pointing to Blackpool Pleasure Beach Big Dipper, Avalanche, and...Pepsi Max Big One?
  8. Here are some I don't think I want to buy that brand No need to edit this one. The Enterprise is a Schwarzkopf ride! Does Joe use this stuff?
  9. Best: ERT on Balder, Grand National, and other good rides Worst: Losing stuff. It makes me mad
  10. I've never seen any "real" celebrities aside from coaster and park people (eg. Robb, park management, GCI people). With prosopagnosia (it's a long word, look it up on Wikipedia), I wouldn't recognize a celebrity if I passed them on the street anyway. Even though I do live in a small college town, there are quite a few big time athletes and coaches here.
  11. OMG I'm a character! Is that a good thing?
  12. Looks like you guys are having a blast, even without coasters. Has KidTums got her first credit yet? (both coaster and boob credits) Also, are we going to see a video of Ryan pounding random Japanese people?
  13. CP is one of those parks that has everything, but nothing is really "outstanding", in other words, quantity over quality. On the other hand, I personally like big parks, and the back section of the park is somewhat nicely themed with trees and even some historic buildings, and if you took away the trashcans, it would look like Dollywood. It's probably the best park in Ohio, but not necessarily the best park in the US It almost looks like Dollywood
  14. It changed from last year, though what does Bakuli have over other Toilet Bowl slides out there? I think we should start the Donkey awards. We should have categories such as these: Best Park Ever Best Coaster Ever Best Death Machine Best Trash Cans (subcategories for Cedar Fair and non Cedar Fair parks) Better-Than-Voyage Award - For some of those great woodies that Amusement Today doesn't even know about Better-Than-Schlitterbahn Award - For the best water park "Taer It Down!1" award for the Worst Ride Ever Most Painful Ride Ever Most Boring Ride Ever Most Overrated Ride Ever Most Underrated Ride Ever Trashiest park Cedar-Fair-Park-With-The-Most-Trashcans award Lamest theming Amazing But I Hate It award WTF? award
  15. I did shoot a little bit of video on this trip. Although my video camera died on me sometime between Beech Bend and Indiana Beach, I did have a little bit of footage from the parks hit before then. Here is a short video I whipped together of TPR riding the SLC at Kentucky Kingdom. Yes, those are screams of pain! Also, I have around 160 pictures of Indiana Beach and 75 pictures from Little Amerrica ready to post. I would prefer to start these on a new page if possible t2.zip "Ow!" "Owwww!" "Ow!" "Owww!" "I'm never having kids!" t2.wmv Streaming version for those who have trouble with downloads
  16. What symptoms are you having? Is it crashing, giving an error message, or simply not running at all? Which build of Vista are you running (x86 or x64 CPU?). If you tell us that information, we might be able to help you out a bit more
  17. Congrats on hitting a milestone. I couldn't promote myself if my life depended on it. I just end up annoying everyone. Someone needs to add you to the Dictionary/Encyclopedia thread, and as for a Little Robby Robb character, we've been through all that already. Also, did Nigel ever get back to you about spilling the chips (fries) on his coach floor? You including this in your count?
  18. We really do need a Big Mike character Robb has a similar pic of me at BPB after my video camera died suddenly at Southport. At least it recovered though, only to die again later at Animal Kingdom. My "new" video camera died in the Midwest (sometime between Beech Bend and Indiana Beach). Since my videos weren't that great anyway, I just ended up taking a lot more stills. As for that ride op at Coney Island, I believe he is the one who posts here. As for the SLC shot, that was in fact the "before" shot.
  19. When they re-did the Phantom, they extended the drop by a few feet. I'm assuming that the new track was intended to make the transition smoother If you look closely, you can see the transition from Arrow to Morgan
  20. Day 2, part 2: Beech Bend After Kentucky Kingdom, we headed for Beech Bend There was hand slapping, pounding it, and more This picture came out fairly well, considering it was quite dark out there Coaster trains are legally required to have headlights at night The park management was cool with us taking pictures/video on the rides Time for Rumbler ERT Battle wound Casey managed to squeeze into the PDM. He ended up using two seats Did Terry get this credit? It's one of those old style "Pretzel" type rides Ooh, scary! Pull up your pants, Robb! The Kiddie Whip They had a "Short Bus" ride Another shot of Looping Star Though there's nothing white about the water White Water Express is the park's log flume Rumbler was our main reason for being here The wheel assembly is slightly unusual. While Vekoma likes to leave a gap between the track and the side friction wheels, Pinfari leaves the side friction wheels out altogether. I've ridden worse Looping Star is the park's Pinfari Death Machine Credit whores on the Dragon Wagon This is more like it! It was the first of four spinning mice on the trip Wild Mouse is one of the newer rides Getting tickets Besides Rumbler, the park is one of those "rides on concrete" type parks, but over the years, I'm sure it will expand with more rides and more permanent fixtures. Kentucky Rumbler IS the park's skyline It's one of those "in the middle of nowhere" type parks
  21. What part of the beach was that? There isn't a single trash can in your beach picture? As for swings, the ones at Wild Adventures were pretty good
  22. I hope to visit that park next year if I make it on the Europe trip. Looks like a nice park I've noticed that you've grown back your facial hair!
  23. Day 2 started out at Kentucky Kingdom They had the pink side open around 20 minutes before we had to leave, so few us got the credit The trains are themed to cars The first "dueling" element is on the lift Unlike other dueling coasters, the trains dispatch in opposite directions Shortly before leaving, they started testing the other side of TS It is unlikely that it will reopen, at least not at KK It had closed due to a recent accident Superman was the park's Intamin drop tower Remnants of before the Six Flags era? The only one on the trip that didn't spin The last credit to get was the wild mouse I don't think any of us tried this one I'm sure they're probably road-worthy, though probably not legally The antique cars (with their "cow theming") were built by Arrow in 1990. Almost ...and of course, food ...free drinks... ...a view of a Schwarzkopf coaster... ...a TPR sign... We got light up buttons... It isn't a TPR even without food Bugs was jealous again and they started to fight Daffy is in love Bugs was jealous of Daffy getting all the attention This is more like it This looks somewhat normal Apparently this Ferris wheel was made by Vekoma The waterpark filled up quickly Not quite as cheap as Holiday World, but it is Coke Good so see a classic Schwarzkopf kept in good condition Hi Joe, remember this ride? We also had ERT on Deluge (the large slide on the right). Easily one of the best waterpark rides I've been on with some nice ejector airtime. KK is built right by an airport This is how you re-align your back after riding in the G trains They only had one side of Twisted Twins running in the morning. Ow! Ow! Ow! Ouch! One ride was enough for me! Of course, you would have bashed your head so much that college won't do you much good TPR peeps enjoying T2 Who's ready for PAIN? You could buy a couple of De Loreans for that much money! The station looks pretty, though it's still an SLC and could use a new paint job. T2 is the first SLC in the US and the second in the world! The inclined loop is something that seems to be only on stand-ups I haven't seen many B&M coasters that go straight onto the lift out of the station. Many will have a small dip, turn, or some other element. We had ERT on Chang, Twisted Sisters, Deluge, and Thunder Run. Unfortunately, Thunder Run was down, so they opened up the SLC and Greased Lightning for us. SFKK was surprisingly hospitable to us. Just look at the paparazzi. Looks like a used coaster or something The back entrance to Kentucky Kingdom The park's skyline is dominated by Chang, the second largest B&M standup This one's the most unique of them all. It looks a bit like Erik's van There were a lot of hot-rods in the area due to some convention of some kind Leave it to the Vekoma bus to get us lost again!
  24. Looks like it could be fun. The Deja-Vu style cars might take some getting used to (hopefully they can dispatch faster than Deja-Vu). So when are you guys going to do a Canaba group trip?
  25. The Florida theme parks are all good for donkey sightings. Sea World has one, BGT has one in the Clydesdale area, and Animal Kingdom has a couple, I have also seen donkeys at Flamingoland (they have a few in the kids area) Wild Adventures (grazing behind the SLC) EPCOT (has a statue back by the Germany pavilion) Magic Kingdom (Eeyore) Universal has Donkey from Shrek Pleasureland (a statue in the Funhouse, probably gone now) Blackpool's South Pier (Donkeys are the mascot for the pier) Anyone else had any good theme park donkey sightings?
