  1. A little sloppy job at that too http://www1.cedarfair.com/carowinds/attractions/detail.cfm?ai_id=3 The page title says "Paramount's Carowinds | Thrill Rides - Flight Deck" and the page has references to "Top Gun" Nighthawk - It fits in with Cedar Fair's trend of having "-hawk" coasters Flight Deck is just not creative at all.
  2. In addition to landscaping, I've added some more attractions to the waterpark. Two new attractions include a giant toilet bowl slide and a small family raft slide, both open for peep use RCT2 doesn't include any proper waterpark attractions, but this is intended to be a giant Toilet Bowl slide The family raft slide is one of a few new rides in the waterpark section
  3. I should mention that I have one of the newer zip-up hoodies and I've had a few experiences with it. I put it on, and it transported me to the Magic Kingdom (being in Florida, we don't have an off-season). Taking it off, on the other hand, should be avoided at all costs when at Disney World. See Erik's video for the full story: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=500333#500333
  4. Am I going to be #100, or #101? I got a deal on a Wii yesterday at Target. It had probably been on the shelf for not even 20 minutes. I'll probably play with it tonight when I get home. Edit: I got my system up and running, played Wii Sports for a while and then the system locked up. The system still works, but whenever I try to insert the Sports disk I get a "Remove the disk" error. Anyone have any ideas on what went wrong? Edit: My number has changed! Do not use 7795-3776-0116-7154 5836-0143-5961-2296
  5. Of all the rides in the park, the Vekoma Death Box is in fact the one with the highest death rate. The cars will sometimes stall and collide. I had been having problems with the game crashing, so I reverted to an earlier saved game. Not much has been lost, and I was able to transplant a few rides and such from the buggy saved file to the most recent stable copy. Over in the Wisconsin State Fair themed area, I have a "Kiddie Coaster of Death", based on the ride at Little Amerricka. Based on feedback, I added a "Jet Coaster", which loosely translates to "big Japanese coaster that doesn't do very much" I did another complete overhaul of the Golden Arches coaster. Instead of using a long straight launch, I used the inclined launch as it seemed to be more reliable and less prone to rollbacks. Should a rollback occur, I have a set of brakes that stop it and relaunch it along with a working blocking system Over in Elissa's Midway is a Carrabba's restaurant, located near the Yeti Ball coaster and the giant Fascination machine (which doesn't serve much of a purpose at the moment, though the Intamax coaster dives through it) The park's second restaurant, "Dining with Joe" is located between the Dueling Balders and the Quadloop coaster
  6. ^ They had a similar system at Thorpe Park when we visited in 2006. People could use their gum to "vote" for their favorite coaster at the park (out of Colossus and Nemesis Inferno). This sign at Drayton Manor speaks for itself Some of the signs at Indiana Beach were strange too.
  7. I had it on my laptop for a while (because I got it for free through the university), but when the hard drive crashed, I upgraded back to XP. I don't think Vista cripples P2P file sharing, but it does have other DRM restrictions. One of the biggest problems with Vista is the User Account Control (it generates a pop-up message whenever you try and run an application), which can fortunately be turned off. Some people may like Vista, but I'm staying with XP for now (though I may have a dual boot with some flavor of Linux in the future)
  8. I don't really have a favorite color, it just depends on the situation, the type of mood I'm in, and what it goes well with. In other words, I'd never make it over the bridge on Monty Python.
  9. They were a bit of a novelty in the 90s and you don't see them built anymore. People though that parks would try and top Riddler's Revenge but after that we only saw Scorcher in 1999 and nothing after that.
  10. Looks pretty cool. I'm still working on mine, but RCT2 keeps crashing when I try to play it, and I've got a lot of landscaping to do.
  11. Great job with the editing there. I now have proof of my backwards-Peoplemover credit!
  12. ^What sort of video are posting? How big is it? You can attach most videos (wmv, mpg, avi) the same way that you post an image. If it's under 5mb, you can post it in your TR, and if it's between 5 and 40 mb, you can post it in the video forum and then crosslink it in your TR.
  13. ^ What is it then? I've heard Arrow, Vekoma, and in-house. See also: June 2007 SpaceShip Earth video taken before the re-hab. What would rides be like...ON THE MOON? And Gary leaves us with one question... I was the commander this time Look! Gary Sinise has a Santa hat I wonder if there is any Christmas theming on Mission: Space The dummy was down for rehab Windows Media Player failed the Brake Test. They should switch to Linux Test Track had a less than five minute wait through the regular line, despite the signs saying that the queue was much longer. The goal is to use the sticks to push "resources" to the buildings that need them. It is sort of like shuffleboard. The game is played by using large sticks Power City is a new interactive game in Project Tomorrow This one-way mirror is new. It allows riders on SSE to see into Project Tomorrow In the future, there will also be rides on the moon This is what happens to you when you play in the nuclear waste In the future, there will be flying cars The screen then shows a short animated video of what thinks "your future" would be like. The screen behind us was playing "There's a great big beautiful tomorrow", as either a tribute to Horizons or as a references to COP (or both) The "review" session of the ride The computer asks a few simple questions At this point, the interactive touch screens activate. Sounds a lot like Horizons doesn't it? This is all we saw for the descent back to the ground level. The top point of the ride, where the vehicles rotate, remains similar to the original with the image of the Earth and the cars rotating around it And we enter the Matrix We continue to go up This scene is also completely new This scene is new, and the "communicating across the world" scene has been removed Some of the bigger changes come after this scene For reference purposes, this is what it looked like before. Did anyone ever get this credit? The boobs have been covered!!! This was probably the most significant change made to the ride The appearance of many of the Animatronics characters has been improved The first few scenes are very dark as before. It's very blurry here, but it shows a caveman trying to convince a woolly mammoth to switch his car insurance. On the initial ascent, the cameras instruct riders to look up at the camera. I don't know what it's used for, but it will probably serve a function when the ride is officially re-opened Going up The ride vehicles have been fitted with the interactive touch screens It doesn't officially reopen until February We were surprised to see that it was open for "sneak previews" We got to EPCOT around 7 and there were still moderate crowds. We expected Spaceship Earth to be closed
  14. Or you can do Europe instead and ride Michael Jackson with us! In college, it doesn't matter too much if you have to miss class for a day or so. At UF, they actually have a period at the beginning of the semester where you can drop and add classes.
  15. That Schwarzkopf shot was in fact intentional. Should I keep going or stop here? This appears to be the transfer track for Disaster Transport They cycle for the sky tower is fairly short, compared to one like SeaWorld (though theirs is an upcharge for regular guests) Hey Joey, they have an Intamin first gen. Kind of hard to come by these days OMG! Cement! Trash cans!..and a Maverick garden! I only got nine coasters in this shot There's a "boneyard" of sorts under Disaster Transport Very nice view of the parking lot You can get a nice view of some of the rides, such as Raptor It's a typical sky tower, though unlike the one at Geauga Lake, it was actually operating. "Welcome to the Space Spiral" Close up of ride workings Obligatory motion blur shot It's an Intamin Impulse, but unlike V2, this one has twists on both spikes Wicket Twister is in the same area and almost has its own themed section (see the two trash cans there?) It swings beyond 90 too It's a Huss Frisbee type ride that swings, and is more likely to induce nausea than any coaster MaxAir is one of the park's major flat rides, located near the front It's still enough to make some people sick. Yuck! It's a medium sized out and back woodie, and provides a better ride that it's big brother Although in the late 90's, the trains were butchered with ratcheting lap bars, seat dividers, and headrests Blue Streak is the park's oldest roller coaster, built in the 60's Don't these people know that Maverick is at the other end of the park? And they're off Uses for a Cedar Fair trash can #328 - Makeshift barrier After riding Raptor a few times in the front seat, we noticed that they were starting to let people enter the park "Raptor rules the sky". I first saw that slogan used in someone's signature on RRC Raptor is the park's old school B&M inverted, first opened in 1994 as the tallest and fastest inverted coaster There are at least 20 trash cans in this pictures. Can you find them all? After MilF, we headed towards the front of the park, as they had a few other rides open for hotel guests. The front of the park is the standard for Cedar Fair - Cement and trash cans Pure coaster porn! It doesn't look very tall from this angle Everyone has this shot Cedar Point has its own water tower. It isn't very spectacular, compared to Holiday World's two water towers and that one with the mouse ears While many people headed for Maverick, I went with Erik and Leanne over to MF for an early ride Day 2 started on a similar fashion to the first
  16. Magic Kingdom continued. Mostly just eye candy in this update. EPCOT is on the way Castle lighting video It looks so pretty. To be continued But that doesn't mean we can't still take the monorail over to EPCOT A view of the Contemporary Resort from the ferryboat This one for the ferryboat. (Sorry Beemerboy, we would have taken the monorail, but the line for that was even bigger) Once we got out of the park, we had to wait in another line That is, if we can get to the gate It was time to leave the park, as they were closing it down for the Mickey Christmas party More Pixar stuff Back over to Pixarland for another ride on Space If anyone wants higher resolution versions to use as desktop wallpaper, I can post them The integrated the lights with the fireworks show Mostly eye candy from this point The reason for this being the fireworks show But then they went out again I have posted a movie of the actual lighting in the video forum The story is that Cinderella doesn't want to have to put up the Christmas lights up herself. She's a princess and she needs others to do it, so she calls upon her Fairy Godmother. The characters are more animated now and their mouths move when they speak They make a show out of the lighting When the Imagineers designed the Christmas decorations for our castle, they realized that people would see it, and so went with a design that doesn't look like a giant marshmellow The less political correctness the better Card carrying ACE member? "The Dump" No Christmas makeover for Country Bears Our Thunder Mountain is a Vekoma NOT the Death Seat The sight of pineapples means one thing...Dole Whip! I bet nobody has Space Mountain from THIS angle It's a "walk though" attraction I've never done this before At least our Pirates is better than the one at...um..Hong Kong Disneyland We got onto Pirates with a five minute wait
  17. Thanks for the feedback so far. Screamscape says that Space Mountain will go down in June 2008 for nearly a year and the Peoplemover/TTA will probably go down around the same time, meaning that the only two "good" Tomorrowland attractions will be closed. I'm not sure what the story is with the train. I'm guessing it's something Christmas related. It reminded me of the locomotives on BTMR
  18. We don't have White Castle in Florida, but we do have Krystal. If you look to the left of this pictures, you can see the Crave Case. It has 30 of those litle burgers in there. If it were items that TPR members would like as gifts, you would have items like: Eight Boob credits (I want so see you draw a comic for that!) Seven stolen kids Six Dole Whips Five Magic Hoodies Four First Pounds (duuuuude!) Three Casey Tackles Two Vault Icees etc.
  19. ^ He was referring to his haircut. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bowl_cut More Coaster Porn in this update Rides featured: Gemini - An Arrow racing coaster. Wood supports with steel tubular track. I rode both sides to get the full credit Mean Streak - A giant woodie. Trimmed to death. It doesn't do very much. I rode in the front seat, which was actually somewhat smooth. Maverick - The park's new ride for 2007. An Intamin looping coaster with several launched segments. Okay ride, but a bit hard on the neck due to the design of the restraints. Some people know to anticipate the transitions, but for my first ride I was in the last car and I was not able to see them. I only rode once for the credit, as the line was too long to try and ride again. Day 2 will be started in the next update A little out of order, but this was the queue for Maverick After riding, they had started to close down the rides and we headed back to the hotel Erik and Leanne on Maverick I understand that a lot of people liked this ride, though I found the restraints uncomfortable, especially on the neck There was a grouper on duty at the time to maximize the capacity of the ride. I skipped part of the line by going through the Single Rider row Some coaster porn shots The station is designed to that two three-car four-seat trains are loaded at one time We went back over to Maverick and they had just re-opened it after another closure. Ryan just got pounded by Mean Squeak I rode in the front seat. It wasn't very rough, but it didn't do very much. Too much braking It doesn't go that fast Time to take on Mean Squeak. At least it looks pretty Maverick still had a line and there were several trains stacked on the brake run The sun was starting to go down and we had more credits to knock out It's the back seat on an Arrow. What were you expecting, Erik? It was built around the same time as Colossus and was a record holder for a while, though unlike Colossus, it races on a regular basis Inside the station It looks like a woodie, but it's actually considered a steel coaster Gemini is the park's racing coaster
  20. I'm not getting as many hits/feedback as I was hoping for, but the show must go on To be continued He's running a lot more consistently now We were spared by the Water Jets of Doom though they were operating that day Merry Xmas Cameron! Although the robot has returned Space hasn't gone down for the major rehab yet, fortunately Does this count? Anyone notice this detail outside the Haunted Mansion? Back...to the mansion! This ride makes people so insane, that they literally throw their money away Hey, I gotta lotta faith in you I'll stick with you kid, that's the bottom line Yeah, we have a lot of fun don't we And heaven has to be with you all the time Aussie Aussie Aussie! Oy Oy Oy! (Midwest trip in-joke) Merry Xmas Jahan Merry Xmas Wes Merry Xmas James! Does this count as Christmas theming? OUR 'it's a small world' doesn't need to be modified to accommodate fatties Here are some pictures of the ride to prevent the need to ride again The river Styx The turnover rate for ride ops here must be really high We didn't see any decorations here Donald Duck's Christmas tree lot They do look a little different Maybe we should ride the Teacups There's a Christmas scene in Carousel of Progress Buzz Lightyear Dreamflight! "If you had wings...like Buzz Lightyear" Random fact: The original PeopleMover at Disneyland was sponsored by Goodyear. They pulled their sponsorship after Rocket Rods kept tearing apart their tires. There's also a Hidden Mickey in this picture! It's the PeopleMover CONTROL PANEL! OMG! Erik will post a video explaining this picture The "Red line". The PeopleMover itself is the "Blue line", and there's also a reference to a "Green line" The original EPCOT model. It doesn't have a golf ball, but it doesn't have a giant obnoxious wand either. PeopleMover > MILF First ride of the day, the one and only PeopleMover! At Magic Kingdom, even the trash cans run wild. This is something that the Cedar Fair trash cans can only dream about This one's for you, Casey! The castle is easily visible behind all the decorations All of the parks have at least one giant Christmas tree
  21. You did a nice job with the editing, and it made me crack up a few times, even though I was with you! (For those of you who want pictures, I have posted a few here)
  22. Be sure to check out Erik's corresponding Video TR Erik and I headed down to WDW yesterday to check out some of the Christmas makeovers and a few other things. I took a lot of pictures and a few video clips. Some of the pictures will be blurry because taking pictures from a moving vehicle without the flash is not the easiest thing to do. Weather was okay in the morning, though it cooled down a bit in the evening. Thankfully I had my amazing hoodie (just be careful when taking it off, as it has more magic than you might think, especially when combined with Disney magic). Animal Kingdom- The Yak and Yeti restaurant is now open. We didn't go in, but the menu is posted The Yeti himself is having some issues. Besides the tree out front and a few plastic decorations in Dinoland, there wasn't much in terms of decorations Grand Floridian resort This hotel has the annual gingerbread house. Unfortunately you can't go inside it, nor can you eat it (sorry guys). It's actually just a glorified candy store, but it does smell good. Magic Kingdom Crowds were moderate, but we got on everything we wanted to, including Space Mountain twice, Thunder once, Splash once (5 minute wait), and even some of the shows and dark rides. We even checked out the tree-house, got the mandatory Dole Whips and watched the castle lighting show. EPCOT Disney had a surprise Christmas gift for us. We got there after 7pm, and we had heard that SSE was closed for issues. Some of the changes were good, some were not so good, and one particular change has completely ruined the ride. Test Track was a five minute wait, along with Mission: SINESE. Magic Kingdom will be next, and the best is yet to come They were even dueling them! Does this turn you on Beemerboy? The house itself is basically a candy store. Visitors can't go inside unfortunately This is what went into the house. If you have any questions, e-mail Dan! This is what we were here for This hotel probably has more Christmas decorations than Animal Kingdom The GFR is one of three resorts around the Seven Seas Lagoon and is notable for being the place where Robb and Elissa married It's not uncommon to see someone taking a monorail POV This sign was probably made before they put up that obnoxious hat landmark, though they will probably change it soon when the park is renamed This one's for you Beemerboy! We then headed over to the TTC to check out the Grand Floridian Hotel This is the "Unicorn" parking lot. What happens when unicorns get sick? Wes? Not our Dino! The ride is basically Indy with a different theme So what is Bill Nye doing these days? A new TV show? Sundials on Mars? Rides on the Moon? The flesh-eating-rodents are there too I haven't done Dinosaur recently The Santa hat is one of few decorations around the park More Christmas decorations What's that girl in the front seat doing there? Get a room you two! There's another one! The single rider line had a less than five minute wait There isn't as much to see on the other side, aside from part of Kali River Rapids A few of the landmarks visible from EE's lift There's actually a mechanism under the platform that provides the steam The steam effect is pretty cool Oh look! Another Hidden Mickey! This food stand is new The menu is posted outside, as with many theme park restaurants The Yak and Yeti restaurant went up fairly quickly And a Donkey Spinning rodents The Animal Kingdom tree Here's Erik shooting his parking lot tram POV Not our Dino! And look, there's another one We must be at WDW because there's a Hidden Mickey in the clouds
  23. I agree on the bonus points for the Gator shirts. I've found that the queue times for Test Track aren't very accurate. Last night both lines were 20 minute wait, and they were more like 5 minutes (save for the preshow). Even on the busy days I've been able to get a few rides in when using the single rider line.
