^I actually quite like the feeling of being thrown around like on Skyrush, that's why I had my hands up. The only thing keeping me from having them up all the time was the fact that the restraints hurt my legs quite a bit on the airtime moments and I sometimes had to grab them to relieve the pain. (I think that I managed not to grab them once on my second ride, though). But yeah, I suppose the "out of control" feeling is why most people grab the restrains on skyrush.

What would rides be like on the moon?
rcjp replied to Thrillrider15's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Well, I suppose that if you were on a normal slingshot you would come back down, it just would take a lot longer. However, in theory, if you were on a extra powerful one you could rise enough to escape the moon's gravity field and wouldn't come back. You would have to be launched with an incredible speed, though. -

Granted, you'd have double the classes instead. I wish the closest decent park from my home wasn't 330 miles away. (and no, not further away) -
I know B&M hasn't built a lot of sitting coasters but which one is your favorite? (and please mention which ones you've ridden) I've only been on Dragon Khan and I thought it was awesome! One of favorite rides so far. I would also REALLY like to try Kumba.

That picture of Millennium Force reminded me of the way people raise their hands more or less according to the coaster. I remember when I was in line for MF I noticed that, at least near the end, everyone had their hands in the air. I suppose that it is mainly because, as it is a long and not very intense ride people gradually gain more confidence as they get through the course and even the ones that didn't originally have their hands up will raise them eventually. Also, throughout the rest of the park most people seemed to do the same so maybe it also has to do with the public that Cedar Point has. I will never forget when, after one of my rides on Skyrush I was looking at the photos and noticed how I was the only one out of 32 people who had their hands up when the picture was taken. Probably that's just because the drop has insane ejector air and most people (even the ones who had their hands up) will instinctively grab the restraints so when they get to the bottom of the first drop (where the pictures are taken) almost no one will have their hands up in the air.

Vekoma Boomerang! A first?
rcjp replied to GrapesLie's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
My first boomerang type was stunt fall at parque Warner Madrid followed by stinger at dorney and (so far my only "normal boomerang") sidewinder at Hershey. Stunt Fall was the best of the three with stinger coming second due to its great forces and smoothness compared to sidewinder. SF was actually pretty good. -

Couldn't agree more. It's not by chance that I tend to raise my hands a lot more on coasters with lots of different forces, specially the ones that have airtime. Usually when riding coasters that rely more on inversions and positive Gs I just lay my hands on my legs or something. When riding rides that rely more on airtime, that's when I like to throw my hands in the air the most (like skyrush).

Highlights of Your Season?
rcjp replied to 2012jarrett's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Ok this year I made a trip to the us and visited a few parks (the most I've ever done in a year) and I have a few memorable moments. *Best moment: Going up skyrush's lifthill. The ride itself was awesome but I'd been dreaming of this ride (literally) for so long, well, since last year that the anticipation was brutal. Was definitely up to my expectations. *Best individual ride: Kingda Ka in the front. I had ridden it before but never in the front and it definitely felt more intense than the other seats. The 128 mph wind, your face flapping like crazy, the super intense entry to the tophat,... really good. *Funniest moment: Ok, my dad and I were queuing for our second ride on stinger at dorney and two guys (aged around 20) asked us which way to go to steel force. I explained them (even though that was my first time there) and then we realized that they seemed a bit nervous about riding stinger. So we immediately decided we would have to sit in front of them to see their reaction and, during the entire first half of the ride, the guy who was sitting in front of my dad was drooling (quite badly) the whole time. Well, so badly in fact that a giant string of saliva formed around his mouth and I was just kind of hiding myself in the restraint as I was seriously afraid it would end up in my face. Not only that, the guy was pulling a really funny face while trying to resist the G forces. Sort of laughing while trying to keep his head straight even though it just kept itself sort of sideways. Anyway, my dad couldn't stop laughing of his face and while I was just hoping I wouldn't get a saliva shower. *Scariest moment: Heading to our rented car after leaving Hershey and having to struggle quite a lot to find it. So much that for about 5 minutes I though it had been stolen and with it our bags, most of our money, passports, tickets to other parks, hotels and flights. I was seriously relieved when we found it in a place we though we hadn't park it in (at least while we were looking). *Strangest moment: Going up raptor's lift at CP when my restraint unlocked one or two clicks. I just closed it again rapidly and decided not to tell my dad as I feared he would panic a bit. Don't know it it happens usually but it definitely felt weird. *Favorite individual park visit: Hershey. While I loved Cedar Point and Six Flags Great Adventure (where I'd already been to, actually) I was very surprised by both the park itself and the quality of the coasters (skyrush and storm runner were just awesome, great bear was quite good too and better than I was expecting). *Nerdiest moment: Not extremely nerdy, just a bit. Waiting for a while next to Top Thrill Dragster engine room to hear and look at the cables as the ride launched. *Best non-coaster related thing to happen at a park: I don't really have a best thing, just a slightly funny one. In the day I went to SFGAdv I was wearing a jackass t-shirt and quite a few people said thins like "Oh, man I love that shirt!". One of them even asked where I'd bought it to which I answered I had purchased it in my hometown, in Portugal (and I'm sure they had no idea whatsoever where that is). The next day I had a Rocky t-shirt and, again, there were some people making comments about it. I don't know if this is common in the US but here people don't really talk to each other unless they know them. Everyone just seems nicer there. *Favorite new experience: Experiencing ejector airtime for the first time, and it was on skyrush so it was a pretty decent start! Really cool and I definitely prefer it over floater air. -

What's your most hated coaster company?
rcjp replied to mrlego611's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Has anyone thought of RCCA? I know they don't have a lot of rides but the worst coaster I've ever been on (Coaster Express - Parque warner madrid) is theirs. Just so rough and, from what I've heard, some of their other rides (like SOB) weren't that much better. -

Granted, you could always take in on Saturday. I wish Skyrush's lift hill hadn't been slowed down at the top. -

Least favorite coaster element.
rcjp replied to darklingscribe's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Ah ah! That's actually a good one. Still, they are a bit necessary so I would say mid course brake runs or anything else that kills the pace of a ride (including straight sections of track).
