Then it would break another record (tallest inversion) and would mean you wouldn't want to stall there. The lapbars part would only make the ride more awesome. What if RMC built a giga woodie?

Have coasters finally reached their peak?

^ I think the problem is more money (like AndrewRnR said) rather than the design issues themselves. But, yes, maybe it would be tricky to build a 500 foot tall ride with nice forces and reasonable length. I have also dreamt of intamin building a record breaking ride (in terms of speed and height) with millennium force like restraints and length and skyrush like airtime. (maybe that's asking too much, though) I remember when during last year's IAPPA Robb interviewed Sandor Kernacs from Intamin he said that he believed they were getting close to the limit in terms of speed as it may start getting uncomfortable for riders. I have never been on formula rossa but I've been on Kingda Ka and riding it in the front, while awesome, is not something I would wan't to do for a long period of time as the 128 mph wind is pretty intense. It was fine for me, but I imagine that was lot more than that may get uncomfortable. So maybe if designers want to get a lot faster they will have to start considering using something like windshields. Like the ones on ringracer, maybe that, despite not being as tall as the rider's heads, deflect the wind (partially) so that the speed of the air that hits riders in the face is reduced. -

Nürburgring launched coaster

That's pretty much what I expected from this ride: nice forceful launch, brakes to kill the pace and a not so special layout. Would have been a lot better if the ride had opened in the planned date with the original record breaking top speed. Still, not bad. -

^ That's basically what Vampire at Chessington World of Adventures is now like, right? The original arrow trains were replaced by Vekoma floorless ones and now it looks like this: -
I was actually specifically talking about B&M looping coasters with floor, like kumba and dragon khan. Wildfire, although different, still classifies as one. I think there is already a topic for floorless coasters and that's why this one was about the ones with floor.

That is a actually a good idea but it would be extremely difficult, if not impossible to use those guide rails in the corkscrew and providing a smooth transition when the train engaged them as small variations in speed would mean the train was more or less banked in the turn which would lead into the corkscrew. I suppose that if there was a long straight section of track before it they could make the train engage the rails in a reasonably comfortable way but it would still be tricky as they would have to make sure the trains were completely vertical when the guide rails began. -

^and ^^ RCDB must have changed it as I'm sure that the used to say it was a corkscrew, I just didn't really see one there. Not that important anyway. -

Dive machines don't have any, neither do most flyers. But I think it will be the first invert, assuming that thing after the tunnel on Oziris is a corkscrew. -

Today's Burning Question - Loops or Hills?
rcjp replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Neither am I. I thought about it when many people praised the hangtime on Full Throttle's loop. I feel that inversions (apart from inline or heartline rolls) are not meant to have negative Gs and I'm not a big fan of them. I like negatives in airtime hills but not in inversions. I enjoy more the ones that pin you into your seat like corkscrews, I also like Zero Gs, though but that's not really hangtime it's... well... zero G. I don't know why but I get the impression that any inversion that is not something like an inline and has negatives is just poorly designed as the train should, in reality, be travelling faster through it. I know that's not the case, though. (maybe sometimes it is) -

Looking forward to see how that loop turns out. I quite like the idea of loops warping around the lift although, based on Banshee's video, I like the way Riddler's Revenge and Kumba's loops do it a bit more. I don't know why but I think they look cooler as they warp the lift at a smaller angle while Banshee's does it at a 90 degrees one.
