  1. Speed!
  2. Wow all these structure look massive! I'm guessing a lot of money is being spent on this park. Does anyone know when this is supposed to be finished? I find it strange that the B&M is just waiting there for the rest of the park to be built.
  3. I also like the old design better. I have only been on two B&M hypers (one of them featured the old design an the other the new one) and I liked the old one better. It could be because of the ride itself and not the trains but I get the impression (both when riding and watching videos) that the airtime is more consistent as they look more compact. On shambhala (that has the new ones) if you were sitting in the back you had to wait until you reached the top of each hill in order to actually get airtime (as it felt more like Zero - G on the way up) and in the front it was the opposite. On Nitro I felt that I got airtime (despite not being exactly ejector) all the way through the hills. Still, as I said, it could be the rides themselves and not the trains but I also think the old ones are more visually more appealing (the new ones just seem to long and narrow for B&Ms). I personally prefer I305 over MF, but definitely prefer any Intamin giga over a B&M giga like Leviathan (totally non-biased opinion, considering CW is my home park). Although I have to agree with Benner, after seeing Shambhala on video, that B&M does have potential to make a top-notch giga, and could be just as welcome at Carowinds If I'm honest, Shambhala was no better than Nitro (which is the only other B&M hyper I've been on). In fact, I would say I like Nitro just a tiny bit more because of its forceful helix. Shambhala was a very fun ride and a kind of coaster that attracts lots of people as it is the tallest in Europe and everyone can ride it. It's great for getting more people to visit the park, but not great to please enthusiasts a lot. I went there last year I ended up riding shambhala and Dragon Khan 8 times and Furius Baco 5 and, in the last rides it kind of got a bit boring, lots of floater air and everything, but it just didn't make me want to ride it again badly as furius baco and Dragon khan did. That's too bad, as Shambhala *looks* good. It will be interesting to see how it stacks up to the other B&M hypers in the next steel polls Mitch does now that people are starting to ride it that can actually compare it to other great coasters. I still can't believe it placed so high last year. I was also really surprised as I had already ridden it and, personally, I had quite a few rides placed higher than it, two of them being Dragon Khan (one of my favorite rides) and Furius Baco at the same park.

If I were to choose a coaster type for me, it would be a Giga B&M sitdown (or floorless) as I would love to see a + 200 ft tall inversion and B&M sitdowns have (or had) a lot of potential to be intense (such as Dragon Khan). Still, I know that's very unlikely and probably we'll be seeing either a B&M or an intamin giga.
  5. Granted. However, as it is already such an intense ride ( ) they would add trims everywhere possible, make the MCRB bring the ride to a complete stop like some arrows do and make the lift slow down at the top as much as possible. I wish the next world's tallest and fastest coaster isn't as short as Kingda Ka or TTD.
  6. Granted, you would be stuck in a knockoff SLC while the rest of your class would be having lessons. I wish I was riding a coaster right now (but not an SLC).
  7. Ha ha, a Vekoma Giga would be funny!
  8. What about a LSM launched intamin Giga? That would be very interesting too.
  9. I went there in the last week of August for the first time and it wasn't walk-on. The lines were short, still, there was an average 5-10 minutes wait until the water park closed, then talon and hydra got worse. My last ride was talon at 9 p.m and I waited about half an hour.
  10. Schwarzkopf
  11. Vekoma
  12. Gerstlauer GCI or Gravity Group?
  13. Hades 360 with SLC trains with old restraints (yes, most of the ride, apart from the corkscrew, would be upside down). What's worse than a stand up floorless drop tower which pulls 6 Gs under braking to ensure all your manhood gets properly smashed?
  14. You do have a point, I suppose. However, while wing rider trains seem to be less appropriate for high G forces I have been on furius baco which was very intense. I don't know if the differences between those trains and B&M's allows it to pull more forces but it really does. To me the thing is that B&M and the parks which ask for these rides want to provide a "flying" sensation which seems appropriate for wingriders and involves a lot more floating around in light Gs than pulling high forces and spinning/twisting/snapping you around like some older B&M inverts do (specially in the corkscrews and zero Gs). As to what you said about the train pulling positive forces in one side and negative ones on the other while in a rolling element, it's not exactly like that. You see, if the trains spins at a constant high speed there will be lots of laterals (due to the train's wide nature) but the vertical forces will be the same on either sides. The different forces are created when the trains starts or stops spinning (which is what creates acceleration). For example, lets say the train entered an inline twist to the right really fast, the right side of the train would initially pull negatives while the left would pull positives. When the trains exits the spin, the deceleration in the rolling movement would cause the right to pull positives and the left to pull negatives. So, during the part of the roll in which the train is spinning at a constant speed, the forces (apart from laterals) would be the same. Just to give you a real example, when I rode skyrush (even though it is different from actual wingriders) I noticed that, in the left winged seat, I got some nice negatives while the train was going from an onverbanked position (in the stengel dive) back to normal and in the right it was the opposite but that was because there was acceleration in the spinning movement.
  15. Me neither. I mean, the only advantage I see on those types of restraints is the fact that there can be no headbanging but as markysharky17 said, I have never ridden a rough B&M invert. Even when I rode Batman at SFGAdv this year I got totally smooth rides in the front and back despite being already 20 years old! Still, I could also see this as a first step for B&M to start building looping rides with lap bars as they wouldn't have to do much more than just removing the rubber part and moving the metal bars to the side a bit although I don't see that happening in a near future
  16. I know it is a lot of money that may be spent on something just OK but what I meant with the "better than nothing" was that I doubt I will be a BAD ride and anything that's decently good will always be better than doing nothing. Having said that, I would obviously rather have a totally Kickass ride for that money but I'm not sure if that will be the case as we seem to be just a minority compared to the GP that loves any OK B&M.
  17. ^Exactly, enough said. Always better than nothing.
  18. It's funny how having only been on two intamin drop rides (one of then was 1st gen - Demon Drop at Dorney, and the other one was 2nd - Hurakan condor at Portaventura) it was the first gen one that got me anticipating the drop the most. I'm not saying it is a better ride, I just find it interesting how I somehow was a bit more nervous on Demon Drop (even though Hurakan was my first freefall ride). Just saying that because they're bigger doesn't necessarily mean they'll be more thrilling although it is usually the case.
  19. It could end up being a 300 ft tall looping coaster! Although I highly doubt that, sadly. I always imagined a giga/hyper looping ride and last year when Robb told us to ask questions to manufacturers for IAAPA I asked B&M if they had ever considered doing such thing to which Walter Bolliger said "I do not want to answer that question." I guess this dream will never come true. Still, getting exited with this new ride!
  20. That's what I was noticing. It looks steeper to me than any other B&M invert so far. (or maybe it's just the angle of the picture)
  21. Has to be Skyrush for me, that ejector air is just insane! (even with the slowed lift)
  22. ^^It is more exiting. However,I have to praise B&M's incredible reliability and the fact that no one ever needs to make changes or mess with a ride after they are open (like they did with I305) as well as Skyrush's lift hill that now slows down at the top. And every time I go to a park that has an Intamin I'm afraid it won't be operating (especially if it is launched). Don't get me wrong,I think intamin makes some seriously awesome rides but B&Ms give no problems and are usually very popular among park guests and that's what parks want.
