The Rumor / Crazy Idea Superthread

I actually had thought of this too. An airtime hill where both the entry and exit were beyond vertical. I call it: light bulb hill, due to its shape -

The Rumor / Crazy Idea Superthread

^^I think that if they were in the "flying position" (facing the ground) it would work better. Now, honestly, some say (including Intamin's president) that we are reaching the limit in terms of speed as riders can't stand faster winds without any sort of protection while still being comfortable. So a launched flying coaster would allow for almost any speed as the riders' face wouldn't be facing the wind which would eliminate the "face flapping" thing. Imagine: "The world's first supersonic coaster!" -
What type of enthusiast are you?
rcjp replied to arby's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I would say creator with a touch of engineer. I'm constantly thinking about new possible elements (some of which end up being built, like SFGAm Goliath's zero g stall) but I also care about G forces. -

^Raptor was running super smooth when I went there (and the MCBR wasn't braking the train in any way!) but yeah, it didn't really look like they care a lot about it: loose drive tyres, horrible looking chain (looked like they had just throw some grease at it) and the lift was filthy. Still managed to deliver a great ride, though and I praise the ride for that. -

Wow that was very quick. I have heard it is/was a great ride so it really is a shame it has become rough. -

^Is gatekeeper the only one that rattles closer to the back? It's the only one I've ever tried and I got some nasty vibrations if I sat on the outside seat after the third or fourth row. Apart from that, I agree wit what most people say: it's not intense but great for the GP, great capacity and (if we exclude those vibrations) very reridable. I's just that there are a lot more coaster types I would rather see getting built, unless B&M can come up with a furius baco like intense ride. -

^^So do mine. It's funny how, in the middle of that mess of comments, you spot someone making fun of them and quite a few of those are posters here. Still, it's no use trying to raise the level of youtube comments. ^What??? I also remember seeing this on goliath's animated POV by TRP: Answer: Of course it will be... -

^I'll be looking forward to hearing what it's like. Well.... I don't know why I still have any hope for the wing coasters.... I just would really like to see B&M doing and intense old school one. Yeah, I know: "Keep dreaming" -

^Someone here has mentioned that it saves a lot of money so if they did it, it wouldn't be a matter of space (I'm assuming) as it truly doesn't take much at all. -

We have no idea how the RMCs will be in 5 years Now, really, I don't expect them to get bad or anything. -

I don't think RMC's trains are going to provide a solution. What's special about their trains is that they use springs to push the side wheels and up-stop wheels to make sure they attach to the track the whole time to eliminate the train banging around the track like normal wooden coasters. Outlaw Run finishes the course at a low speed after the barrel rolls. A normal wooden coaster's speed would not decline that much with a height of 106ft but only a length of 2000+ ft (exclude the brake run, station and lift hill). That means this new technique used on RMC trains generate a lot more friction than normal wooden coaster trains like the PTC's, Gerstlauer's, etc. Interesting, I didn't know that. But is outlaw run's loss of energy throughout the course only due to this system or also due to the fact that it has quite a lot of terrain variations and maintains a relatively high speed during the entire ride? -

In the picture, what is the height of the layout with 10 inversions? Is it 67 metres ? I can only tell the "7"
