PortAventura Discussion Thread

There are a few points here. The first one is that when they say accelerator coasters instead of launched makes me wonder if they're only talking about intamin hydraulic launched rides instead of overall launched coasters which would mean all they had to do would be a ride that is on meter taller and one km/h faster than stealth (which would be seriously disappointing). However, I believe they must be talking about launched rides in general and that then means it has to go more than 99 mph which would automatically make it taller than shambhala. And then there is also the drop tower factor and, as someone has already said, it would be ridiculous (in his and my opinion) to build one smaller than Hurakan Condor, so it should be taller than 330 feet. I know I might be demanding too much but given that you have two rides in one and the money they will spend, in total, they could have gone for both tallest coaster in the world (which would maintain the drop record even after the polar coaster opens) and tallest drop tower too. Plus I'm sure intamin must have come up with a way of building the two rides with less expense given that they were planned to be together from the start, but that's just me... -

^So that makes it around 22 million euros, still cheaper than shambhala. I guess they could have gone for the record if they wanted to (which would have been just brutal) but I'm not complaining about this one. -
^I actually had already come across that, pretty awesome. I would like to climb to a top of a crane too, only with some harness Me too. Why haven't they released anything since?

You're absolutely right, the layout is very similar minus the helix at the end. The thing that makes Kumba so much better than Bizarro (and I mean SO MUCH better) is that Bizarro takes every element at a normal / slow pace and Kumba absolutely flies through everything. You get ripped down the first drop, through the loop, through the dive loop and through the corkscrews. The zero G roll is so good and so ridiculously fast that I can't even describe it. It's my favorite element on any coaster anywhere. On every element on Kumba you get ripped through at an amazing pace. Unlike modern B&M coasters this thing has great positive and negative forces and it's incredibly disorienting. I thought the same thing about the layout being very similar to Bizarro and I was skeptical of the hype but now that I've ridden Kumba I've been converted. One ride in the back row on the right side of the train (near the exit platform) will make you forget Bizarro even exists. Now it makes sense cause I've always wondered why Kumba is such a favorite among enthusiasts. From watching videos, looks like any other B&M looper. Now I wanna ride, someday... So I'm assuming Dragon Khan is just as good?? I've never been on Kumba but Dragon Khan is my favourite ride and seems to fit kumba's description pretty well, you also fly through the zero g but it has an extra loop and you just speed through the MCBR with little to no trimming!

I seriously hope they go pretty tall with this one and not just one meter taller than stealth. The thing is, with a such a short ride (like KK) which is just a one trick pony, it has to be a strong trick and so I don't think a ride like stealth is reasonable in terms of what you get for a ride. KK and TTD may be very short but they do pack a very good punch due to their acceleration, speed and height. So I would really like to see something big (although now I know not as big as KK ) By the way, how much did KK or TTD cost? -

^Oh I totally forgot about that! Looks like the really want to keep the height and speed record. -

Nürburgring launched coaster

^I don't how simple that would be given that it would essentially change the layout but it truly will look ridiculous like this somewhere else. -

Now I know this might be really nerdy and I have now idea how accurate the rendering is but the tower has those triangular shaped supports like TTD and KK. I counted 8 triangles on TTD and eight plus something on KK On this one I think I can count 7 but I'm not sure. If so, it should leave it slightly smaller than those two which would still be great (especially with intamin's new lapbars) -

I'm quite pleased that: Now, I wonder (given that they ensure it will exist) how tall they're going for. The tallest one in Europe right now is Stealth which is only about 200 feet. But if the rendering is minimally accurate it should be more like KK or TTD due to the structure with those triangles. I can't wait!!!! -

^I've never been on blue fire but I assumed from their shape that they were more like corkscrews or something but yeah, if they do provide zero G, and are essentially rolls, I guess they can be considered that. And thanks for the picture. -

I wonder how the zero g looks (if it will be like B&M's recent ones or the older faster ones) It's their first one, right? -

Wow that's great! I wonder how accurate those drawings are because that looks like a massive intamin accelerator coaster with a drop tower, like Kingda Ka! Really am looking forward to seeing what those 100 millions euros can do. -

^I'm not saying it shouldn't get one, but just that, for most people (at least before they rode it) it would look similar: relatively tall, steep drop, no inversions,... Also, if they did get one, I would like to see the old trains and not these new V configuration ones. I get the impression that they only went for the old ones on leviathan so that it would look more different than behemoth, but I might very well be wrong. -

^It looks like those intamin 10 looper just came back to live recently! Nice to hear about the park, we'll see what comes out of there.
