  1. These stats are pretty interesting and fun. Thanks a lot for taking the time to do this! Also, simaticable, the OP said (albeit in tiny font at the bottom of the post) that relocations were ignored.
  2. Six Flags America Six Flags Great Adventure Six Flags Over Georgia Six Flags New England Busch Gardens Williamsburg Kings Dominion Dorney Park Knoebels Coney Island, NY
  3. There's a map at the website below that has the layout of this year's Oktoberfest. http://www.oktoberfest-tv.de/?PkId=175&LCID=1033 Oh and don't forget to ride Verbolten and Mach Tower! (Just kidding, they're at Busch Gardens)
  4. Batman: The Dark Knight at SFNE. Fun, compact ride with the best zero-g roll I've ridden. I also love the B:TR clones.
  5. ^That makes my list look so small, but it's actually been one of the best years ever for me. Already visited: Kings Dominion Busch Gardens Williamsburg Six Flags America/Hurricane Harbor Six Flags Great Adventure Six Flags New England/Hurricane Harbor Six Flags Over Georgia Coney Island, NY Planned or possible parks: Dorney Park Knoebels Lakemont Park
  6. I absolutely love zero-g rolls, and Batman: The Dark Knight at SFNE has an incredible one. I actually got a pop of airtime while upside down. It felt kind of odd, but it was awesome!
  7. The longest lines I've waited in are probably an hour each for TTD, MF, and Maverick, but the most frustrating line was for Georgia Cyclone. The operators were the worst I've ever seen, dispatching trains every 5-7 minutes, even with 2 trains. They were completely preoccupied with their private conversations and were so slow once they decided to check restraints. What should've been a 10-15 minute wait from the bottom of the stairs turned out to be closer to 30-45 minutes. It was horrible. Surprisingly, when I went to SFGAdv on a weekend, Kingda Ka and El Toro were essentially walk-on. The longest I waited for each was about 10 minutes. I got on S:UF and GL (front row on both rides) in about 20 mins each.
  8. 1. Wild One - SFA(1917) 2. Thunderhawk - Dorney(1923) 3. Coney Island Cyclone (1927) 4. Thunderbolt - SFNE (1941) 5. Comet - HP (1946) Hopefully I'll be able to get on Leap the Dips soon.
  9. TLC stands for "tender, loving care." I don't know for sure about Gemini and Magnum, but I assume each car has wheels only in the back (except for the first car, of course).
  10. Coaster: El Toro, I305, or a GCI Big Fun. Flat: S&S Screamin' Swing
  11. I did not ever say that the park sucks. In a bunch of ways it's better than the other SF parks. We have a passholder only cafe with cheaper food, which they didn't have at the other parks. We have some good entertainment with shows written and produced in-house. The park has some redeeming value, and is definitely improving every year (I am very impressed with what they've done with Apocalypse). I was just pointing out the lack of funding that this park receives from SF. It's not so much the lack of original rides that frustrates me (although that is a part of it), it's the fact that the SF chain obviously pours much more money into the upkeep and improvement of the other parks than it does into SFA. How long will the giant Joker statue go without a left hand? How long will it be until Batwing gets some TLC (its supports are rusting so much that there are holes in them)? Those are the things that should be day to day and year to year maintenance matters, but get neglected and go unfixed. If something breaks, it tends to stay that way. That is my main problem with SFA.
  12. Although S:ROS is a decent ride, I still fail to see why they cloned the Darien Lake version with its long straightaways and enormous helices instead of designing their own to fit in the massive amount of space they had available. We see how well that worked out for SFNE! Also, I really hope they get new trains for Superman in the next few years, as the current ones have very little leg room compared to the new ones on Bizarro. Unfortunately, I never got to ride Typhoon Sea Coaster. It was closed every time I visited, and now it's gone. You're correct, I've only experienced the current painful version of Roar. It desperately needs Millenium Flyers, like Wildcat and Gwazi did. I think the park should dedicate a year's budget to getting new trains for their coasters. As mentioned above, S:ROS and Roar need them, and while they are at it, they should get those new trains with the straps for Mind Eraser. Also, I feel like a good B&M invert or floorless would help make SFA feel like it has a more complete coaster collection. Something the size of Batman: The Dark Knight would fit well between Batwing and S:ROS.
  13. I've been to SFA a few times in the past, and have only been able to compare it to other amusement park chains (Busch, Cedar Fair, etc.). This year, I got a SF season pass for the first time, so I made trips to SFoG, SFGAdv, and SFNE. I was shocked to see how much better than SFA these parks are in just about every way. They have less clones and more coasters with original designs, themeing and atmosphere was vastly better, they are cleaner, they have shade, they have decent layouts that are not as frustrating as SFA's, and they obviously have much more money poured into them by SF. It really frustrates me to see other parks get awesome, original coasters while SFA gets a load of clones. Batwing, Mind Eraser, S:ROS, JJ, and Roar are all clones. That leaves us with 2 original coasters, Wild One and Apocalypse. It is just sad to see the park be neglected by the chain. Hopefully they are taking a step in the right direction with Apocalypse and maybe a Hurricane Harbor expansion next year. Sorry for the rant. I'm done now.
  14. Positive: Opening day of I305 before trims and reprofiling, first turn Negative: El Toro's hop over Rolling Thunder Acceleration: Hypersonic XLC Laterals: The twisties on I305 and Maverick, and also the helix at the end of Wild One at SFA
  15. Hey JJLehto, we had this same conversation somewhere else the other day, in a Top 10 thread, I believe .
  16. (Almost) Every comment on this video. The top rated comment on that vid (88 people gave it a thumbs up): lol
  17. I've got 36 new credits so far this year: SFoG: Goliath, B:TR, Dahlonega Mine Train, DDD, GA Cyclone, GA Scorcher, GASM, Mind Bender, Ninja, S:UF SFA: Apocalypse SFGAdv: B:TR, Bizarro, Blackbeard, Dark Knight, El Toro, Green Lantern, Kingda Ka, Nitro, Rolling Thunder, Runaway Mine Train, Skull Mountain, S:UF SFNE: B:TDK, Bizarro, Catwoman's Whip, Cyclone, Flashback, Goliath, Gotham City Gauntlet, Mind Eraser, Pandemonium, Thunderbolt Coney Island: Cyclone BGW: Verbolten
  18. I'm working on supports for my NoLimits B&M hyper coaster as well as a B&M floorless. BTW, these are my second and third NoLimits coasters, respectively.
  19. Coney Island Cyclone on Sunday after 2 days at SFGAdv and SFNE.
  20. At SFNE: Lady in line for Thunderbolt: "We came up from SFGAdv because we have season passes. They have a ride there, Kingda Ka, it goes like 60 mph!" At SFA, after S:RoS: Person 1: "This is the same height as Kingda Ka, right?" Person 2: "Nah man, it's like 100 feet taller." Person 1: "No way, it's 50 ft taller at most." Some guy trying to explain airtime: "Yeah airtime is when the air gets under you and pushes you out of your seat."
  21. I agree with Batwing. It is way too far away from the rest of the park. Luckily, this often helps keeps the lines relatively short because people first have to find the ride then make a conscious effort to ride it, rather than just stumbling upon it.
  22. Verbolten a few weeks ago. Will change after a trip to SFGAdv and hopefully SFNE this weekend!
  23. Just got back from the park, got on Apocalypse 4 times, three of which were in the front row. The themeing is nice and they had the fireball effect working, which surprised me. The ride was smoother than I anticipated, but still bumped my head a few times. One time, the train in front of me got stuck on the brake run, do we were stopped on the lift for a few minutes. Roar was running the best that I've ever seen, and I actually put my hands up for the first time on that particular ride. For the first time ever, I actually kind of enjoyed Mind Eraser, and even went back for a reride. Overall a good day, and I liked Apocalypse. It fits in well with the rest of the park. It's definitely a step in the right direction for SFA. Oryp
  24. That's what I would have guessed. Thanks for clearing things up!
