  1. I made this a while back, but I thought I should give this thread an update for NoLimits 2. Here's my first NL2 coaster that I used to figure things out and just get the hang of the program. It's a Mack hyperlite style, inspired by Storm at Etnaland. I think it turned out pretty well considering. Also, I love beam nodes for supports, and that flanges are built in to the program. Overview Twistyyyy Coming soon: An interesting mine train coaster whose design spanned the time before and after NL2's release, so half was designed in NL1. I also have an old GCI I did in NL1 that is much better than the one earlier in this thread, so I may bring it over to NL2 and finish it up.
  2. Oh man so many. My favorite is probably Hersheypark: Skyrush, Storm Runner, and Fahrenheit (and Lightning Racer, and Great Bear, etc, etc. I love Hershey) CP is awesome: Maverick, MF, TTD Kings Dominion is pretty solid, with I305, Volcano, and Dominator. For pure fun, it's definitely Phoenix, Twister, and Flying Turns.
  3. A shiny new coaster right up front will help give the park a "sense of arrival."
  4. Cedar Fair: Intimidator 305 Six Flags: El Toro SeaWorld Entertainment: Alpengeist Herschend: Outlaw Run Universal: Dueling Dragons Fire Disney Parks: Rock 'n' Roller Coaster
  5. For some reason Joker's Jinx is really loud, enough to be heard pretty much throughout the park at times. It just roars through the whole circuit. It's weird because I didn't notice Poltergeist or Flight of Fear being particularly loud.
  6. With the statements you made above, I'm not sure you want feedback on the realism of the design. A massive coaster that spends so much time high in the air is not realistic because it would not be feasible for a park to actually build. I'm not knocking your ride, just saying that realism is probably the last category I would ask for criticism on if it's a "money is no object design."
  7. As for Maverick, it would be reasonable to assume that LSM's were used for the lift because the hardware on the trains was already in the plans for the tunnel launch. It would be inefficient for them to use two propulsion systems that require very different configurations.
  8. Downloaded the demo and it's even better than I expected. Somehow it runs somewhat decently on my crappy $300 laptop, but only at the lowest settings. Hopefully it'll be usable on the new laptop I buy in the next few months. Can't wait to see what I can do with it!
  9. I was going for more of a family-oriented ride, somewhere between Verbolten and Cheetah Hunt.
  10. Had a day off yesterday so I started work on a terrain Intamin multi-launcher. Here are some pics and a preview video. Everything after the second launch is probably going to change soon. Enjoy! Overview
  11. Thanks for the feedback! I'll get a POV for you once I finish working out all the clearance issues and such. Soon, I promise! (I just started working on this yesterday, so there's still a lot to do.) EDIT: Here's a POV. There are still some clearance problems, but I'll work them out later. It's still very much a work in progress. Sorry there's no sound, I tend to leave it off in the simulator and forgot to turn it on to record.
  12. Here's a thread for all my NoLimits projects, so as not to clutter up the forum with a bunch of different threads. Enjoy and please comment! First up is a GCI terrain coaster I'm working on at the moment. Everything is hand-built, except supports for now. The terrain is not mine, and is used with permission. Overview of the whole ride From the other side.
  13. I really like the idea, but I think the main problems are that people read at different speeds and may only want to see some parts of the report. Both of these issues are non-factors with traditional TRs, so I think those work better. For example, I like to skim TRs and read the captions for the more interesting pictures, which isn't as easy with the new format.
  14. I took a trip to help with Katrina relief a year after it happened, and I remember seeing the park and the "closed for storm" sign. Unfortunately that was my first time down there, so I never got to ride it.
  15. One of the rides I've always seen on TV and heard about since I was a kid. Still haven't gotten in a west-coast trip to ride it. Hopefully soon!
  16. This is definitely the case, it was what really stood out to me about that ride. It's my favorite inversion, I just wish they could all be as perfect as on B:TDK.
  17. I'll do top several of each type because I can never decide on a top 10 combined. Steel: 1. Skyrush 2. Maverick 3. I305 4. Bizarro 5. Millennium Force 6.Storm Runner 7. Alpengeist 8. Fahrenheit (Yeah, I like Intamin..) Wood: 1. Outlaw Run 2. El Toro 3. Thunderhead 4. Phoenix 5. Lightning Racer
  18. I like Gatekeeper as well, but maybe not enough to say it's better than the other wing coasters in the US. The keyholes were freaking awesome though. Iron Rattler was closed when I made it down there . Outlaw Run was absolutely fantastic and is an easy top-5 ride for me. Hope Goliath can match it next year. Definitely exceeded expectations Flying Turns is great for the park, and I'm really proud of Knoebel, Fetterman, and company for sticking with it all this time. I need to get up there and ride it.
  19. Only one I've been to is Universal Studios Singapore and it was fantastic, even though Battlestar Galactica was down.
  20. 36 last year, 50 this year. My best two years by far. Might still get on Flying Turns to make it 51.
  21. 42 here. Would've been 44 if IRAT and NTAG had been open.
  22. Definitely agree about Nitro. Don't hate it, but it had quite a rattle when I rode it a few weeks ago, and the floater airtime isn't as good as, say, Apollo's Chariot.
  23. This one, front row at sunset. Fun fact: I've been on El Toro, Skyrush, and I305 all within 2 weeks.
  24. So far: Dollywood Silver Dollar City Cedar Point Universal Studios Singapore Hersheypark Kings Dominion Six Flags Great Adventure Six Flags Great America Six Flags St. Louis Six Flags Over Texas (No NTAG though) Six Flags Fiesta Texas (No IRAT though) Six Flags Over Georgia Six Flags America Busch Gardens Williamsburg Schlitterbahn New Braunfels Adventure Park USA (Doesn't count, but St. Louis CityMuseum as well ) 16 parks, 9 new 50 new credits 110 different coasters ridden Might still get to: Knoebels Dorney Park
  25. Medusa Steel Coaster is not a wooden coaster, as it's name suggests.. I have to go with Outlaw Run. I love the way it dips first to pick up a little speed, and the airtime as it pulls the back seat over is incredible.
