We got in just in time, I guess. Back in 1998 when we bought our three bedroom/two bath house in Camarillo, it was $195K. Today, we could sell it for $550-600K. Our monthly mortgage is about $1650. However, the market seems to be cooling, so who knows what'll happen? Eric

California Bans Holding Cell Phones When Driving
ebl replied to smells_like_team_disney's topic in Random, Random, Random
On military installations, phones must be in hands free mode. I solve that by turning on the speaker and setting the phone on the little table between the front seats. Callers can hear me just fine, and I can hear them. A $20 or $50 fine is ridiculous. You are fined $250 for not having a ticket on L.A.'s Metro system. Not having a ticket or holding a cell phone while driving...which do you think is more dangerous? People are going to yak and drive anyway. How many times do people get away with not buckling up? That's the law, too. Eric -
For me, it's a tie between Me N Ed's, Ameci's, and Topper's (a small Ventura County chain). They're all good. Eric

Yes, if they're grilled cheese. Do you like olives?

I may not have a job after October 6. Since our government has been pouring money into the war in Iraq, and because of Hurricane Katrina, there's no money to keep our contract with the Navy going. So, contractors go first---and I work for a contractor. Hopefully something will come up soon, or the Navy can find some money to keep us going. Eric

I like the view from Tatsu's lift hill. Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures. Eric -

Believe it or not, I actually contemplated going out to SFMM today. But with the fire and being sort of tired, I decided...eh. Eric -

^ It does seem odd that some people have a map that shows Python cleared out, and others have maps that still show Python. My guess is that you're right, Robb. I've seen the same thing at SFMM, too. They've given me maps from the previous year because they had 'em left over. Eric -
I'm sorry that Steve met an unfortunate fate, but when you mess around with wild animals, you're taking some risky chances. However, this is a great loss. RIP, Steve. Eric

I rode Python in July 2002 when I was there. Identical to Knott's old Corkscrew; short, but a fun ride nonetheless. Whether it stays or goes is apparently up in the air, so it seems. I can understand taking it out. It is old, and newer rides have certainly supassed it in terms of thrills. And the space could be used for something new, though I'm not sure a playground is the best use. Eric -

I was so out of it today...so tired that I could barely even move. I've been like that a lot lately. Time to go see the doctor. Eric

^ Bombardier (previously mentioned) built the Las Vegas Monorail. SFMM had a good transportation system at one time. The Metro monorail, the Eagles Flight tramway, the Orient Express funicular, and the Dragon on the back side of the mountain. Over the years, one by one, they've all disappeared (with the exception of the Orient Express, which is still down following the construction of Tatsu). Orient Express should reopen at some point, and it'd be nice for SFMM to at least look at replacing Metro (doubtful, though, because its manufacturer is out of business). Eric

I didn't know BGT/A was taking out Python. Glad I rode it when I was there last. There aren't very many original Arrow Corkscrews left. Eric

What Rides Scares the Crud Out Of You?
ebl replied to EuroTre's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
X at SFMM was the scariest ride that I've taken. Strangely, I'm not scared of riding a Skycoaster, which I have yet to do. Some of my co-workers recently went skydiving. I don't think I'd do that. Eric
