Last night I dreamt that I was eating a quesadilla and my mom yelled at me, "You're not supposed to be eating that!!!" (referring to my being diabetic). I replied that it was OK because the tortillas were the small ones. Then I woke up. Eric

Behind the broom. Is there a way of turning on a light from across the room? -
"...the bigger the city, the easier transportation will be." (Carnage) Not L.A.! There is, of course, the Metro Bus and Rail system, but L.A. is too far spread out to make that efficient (though it is better than, say, ten years ago). Eric

Castle Park to open Dragon Flyers!
ebl replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Glad to see some Flyers in this area. I've always wanted to ride one of those, and it looks like it's time to go do that. And it'll be nice to see a couple of classic Knott's rides while I'm there. Eric -

Great TR, Wes! It's been two years since I was there. Time to go back. It was good to see that you can sample the Coke products again. The last time I was over at the World of Coke, it was all but closed down. Bonus points to you for riding the curved escalators at Caesars! I did that. They're...interesting... Eric

Photo TR: Drayton Manor 4/4/08 featuring Thomas Land!

"And I think the Granny Grand Prix cars date back farther than Drayton Manor has even been open!" (Robb) I know my granny drove those! This Thomas Town looks like a lot of fun. I am glad to see that the one at SFMM, though not as big, will be a nice addition, as well as having an honest-to-goodness train ride. Eric -
Yes, a few times. Do you use fast food coupons when you can?

Photo TR: Coaster Palooza 2008 - UPDATE P. 23
ebl replied to Coaster Palooza's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
I visited Bonfante--er, Gilroy Gardens in July 2004. Nice park...I want to go back sometime and bring Diana. Interesting monorail they have...I'm not sure why they have lap bars on it. It's not like it has any inversions or anything. One of my favorite rides there was the big swinging banana. Did you guys ride that? Eric -
One thing that hasn't been mentioned is that single-rider lines are supposed to open at other rides besides Deja Vu. I think that's a great way to move more people through the lines because single riders can fill up empty seats. Most people who use the singer-rider lines don't care where they sit, and they get on faster. I visit SFMM by myself on a regular basis, and will definitely make use of the single-rider lines when they are up and running. Eric

Photo TR: That Monorail guy goes to WDW, version '08
ebl replied to BeemerBoy's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
There's a Hummer here in Camarillo that's white on top, but the bottom half is pink. I'll try and get a picture of it sometime. For whatever reason, I see it by the post office a lot. I may stop looking at this trip report. It's so good that if I'm not careful, I'm going to make reservations to visit WDW again even though I can't afford it right now. Also, I want to see Shannon's face, post-Beverly... Eric -
No, haven't had the pleasure. Do you wash your own car?

When we (enthusiasts/park fans/whatever you call us) work with park management, like, in a sense we are, everybody wins. See, together, we're working to make the park the very best it can be. Seeing what's going on out at SFMM reminds me of a pilot whose plane is going down, but he pulls out of a certain crash at the last minute and soars to the heavens. As I've said many times, I look forward to what the coming years will bring. Eric

^ You'd be surprised as to how many people ride those moving sidewalks facing backwards, and when the end comes, *PLOT* right on their tails! To me, it's quite funny, but to a park, it could mean a lawsuit. Hence the spiel. What a great update---thanks, Erik! I want to go back to IoA/Universal so badly. Diana would enjoy the heck out of that place---especially the Dr. Seuss area. Eric

^ Very classy on that supervisor's part. I just hope that some of the "bottom elements" of our society don't catch on and take advantage. I also hope that the attitude and dedication to service that Jay, Neal, and others have brought to SFMM will trickle down to the employees who interface with guests throughout the day. Maybe we'll see an end to the cell phone use, early closures of food/merchandise outlets, and so on. Honestly, a good attitude on the part of park employees can inspire a better attitude from guests as well. Eric

I guess another way to look at this is to ask how much your stuff is worth. Is it worth a dollar to know you can ride and that your stuff not only will not fly off of the ride and be damaged or destroyed, but that someone won't walk off with it. How much would it cost you to replace something like a camera/camcorder, car keys, etc.? At Tatsu, I've seen slow dispatches because people are over putting their stuff on the shelf, then getting on the train. (I'm guilty of that, too ) But as I said, I bring the bare essentials with me inside the park and leave the non-essentials out in the car. My jacket has zippered pockets, so my phone and sunglasses won't go anywhere. Eric

Looks like you guys had a great time. And I enjoyed your video. I should learn to shoot and edit videos---I could accidentally have some fun... Eric
