I'm not sure if there's something wrong with me or what, but I haven't given the 2009 ride much thought at all. It'll be announced by the end of the year, I'm sure. If I had to guess where it'll be, I'd say either in Psyclone's old area or somehow wound around Batman, Riddler's Revenge, and where Freefall used to be. Remember, too, if this ride does indeed have a Terminator theme, it could be a rare (for California, anyway) steel structured wooden coaster. GCII builds those, don't they? And it would go up faster than a wooden structure would. Most likely, whenever the park sends out the renewal forms for season passes, something will be mentioned there. That's often when I find out what the next attraction will be. Eric

"My church group drove 3 hours to go to Six Flags Great America yesterday, only to get there and have the sign on the Tollway say: 'Park closed, please come another day.'" (cycamps) That's too bad, but while planning this trip, did anyone check SFGAm's operating schedule? I only have a limited number of visits left to Longs Drugs because next year it's changing to CVS. No, I'm allergic to them. Do you know how many times you've written your name?

^^^ Thank you, ahecht. That's a very nice comparison you put together. I don't think I could have gotten a better answer to my question. As for both of North America's parks, I don't know it was just coincidence or planned that the parks would be oriented identically (and, as I mentioned, that they're both in Orange County within their state). Tatum's Old Jazzland Stuff
ebl replied to astroworldfan1's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Thanks for sharing this stuff. I have old maps and brochures from Magic Mountain, Knott's, Disneyland, and Busch Gardens Los Angeles that I need to get scanned and posted somewhere. Hopefully Jazzland's successor will do well. Actually, it'd be SFNO's successor. Southern Star, right? Eric -

Well...sort of. I've driven through it a few times, but never actually stopped. Do you download ringtones for your phone?

"There annoying!" (Thelegendarymatthew) People who don't know the difference between "they're," "their," and "there." So there. Rant-o-the-day... those steel poles next to ATMs and drive-thru windows. I realize that they don't want you to take out the corners of the building, the window, the ATM, etc., but why don't they put the poles a little closer to the building? I've actually scraped my car at a McDonald's drive-thru because in order to get close enough to the window so I (or they) don't drop my food or change (which has happened), I have to pull in my side mirrors to do so. Aren't they putting Disney characters in the California version of IASW? I haven't been on that in forever, and it's currently closed anyway. Seeing that mountain behind the HKDL castle is strange. Here's a strange question: is the orientation of the park like Disneyland and Florida's Magic Kingdom? That is, when you walk toward the castle, are you walking north? Tomorrowland is on the east side of the park, and so on? I know Florida's Magic Kingdom is set up that way, but I've wondered that about all of the Disneylands around the world. Of course, Florida's is also in Orange County. Eric -
I took a quick run out to SFMM yesterday (September 13). All I rode was: Revolution (red, white, and blue train, front seat---two train wait). Viper (orange stripe train, fourth row---three-train wait). Ninja (second row---two-train wait). Gold Rusher (second seat from the back---two-train wait). Riddler's Revenge (second row, got on through the single rider line, five-minute wait). Everything was OK, park wasn't that crowded. X2 was operating, though I don't know how many trains were running because I didn't even go up there. Eric

Nope. My birthday was sooo last month. Have you ever yelled at a stranger? (In anger, that is.)

Inverted Wooden Coaster
ebl replied to Vffreak07's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It reminds me a bit of a gallows with all the overhead framing and such. Honestly, it seems sort of pointless. Unique, yes, but nothing all that thrilling. Eric -

Sept 19 is International Talk Like A Pirate Day

A Klondike bar is a chocolate coated vanilla ice cream treat. And, no, I have never found a four-leaf clover. As coaster enthusiasts do with ride credits, do you think of it as a credit when you ride in a brand of car that you've never ridden in before?

Cedar Point PTR 9/7/08
ebl replied to angryemobeaver's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Demon Drop must be one of the very last first generation Intamin freefalls still operating. I wonder how long Cedar Point will keep it? Nice Photo TR. Cedar Point is on my list of parks to visit. Eric -
Great job, Brandy! SFOG is one park I'd like to get to someday. My daughter almost got to go back in 2002 when she visited her uncle, but they made her go to WDW instead! Eric

I'd really like to ride on that cable car at Ocean Park. It looks like there are two separate (but nearly parallel) lines; but one is higher on the mountain. Do they in fact run between the same places? At some point in my life, I'd like to say that I've been to all five Disney resorts. I can't go with the Westcoaster people next February to Hong Kong and Tokyo, but someday... And keep up the great Photo TR of your Asian adventure! Eric -
Of course...how do you think I get all the elbow grease off? Do you smoke?

I'm pretty "shire" that I'm not... Have you ever started a new topic on TPR?

^ Then you'll have to use "Flashier"Pass when you're at SFKK to avoid the 32-hour wait. Eric
