It seems like SOPA is largely dead (for the moment), now PIPA and ACTA are the problem. -

^True that. If it is in fact forceful, although the test videos looked good... -

This is just an absurdly blatant ripoff of montu now. Looks fun, though. -
The rockit has been quite smooth for me, save for one ride. It was in the very back, right seat, but I don't remember the train number. It felt like riding in a car over pebbles at 45. Very vibrating and jittery for the duration of the ride, save for the MCBRs, and it turned me off of the idea of reriding that day. Since then, I've always requested the front when it looked like I would be in the back two rows. The ride ops seem to be quite accommodating, as long as I'm willing to wait an extra train.

None of the above. Probably an Intamin LSM Launch model. http://www.intaminworldwide.com/amusement/RollerCoasters/LSM+Launch+Coaster/tabid/138/ProductNumber/LSM+Launch+Coaster/language/de-DE/Default.aspx Or possibly a Mack. http://www.mack-rides.com/en/products/coasters/launch-coaster/c-lc-info/c-lc-info.html

^XYZ makes a great point. Any of those three states have parks that surpass the coaster count of all of FL. Florida is about theme parks, the sort of things where you do everything and admire the fine details, more than amusement parks where you go for thrills. Sure, we have coasters, but they really aren't as good as those of other states. If you're interested in coming for the theming and decor, definitely do Disney. I'm not sure if I would agree that you should do all four parks, since I think Universal/IOA (which are very doable in one day) are superior to DHS, for example. Perhaps one day each at the Magic Kingdom and EPCOT, then one at Uni/IOA and one at BGT? Then you'll see the best everything has to offer (except SeaWorld).

^I've noticed most of those as well. One irritation with UO wait times is that the Hulk's lockers don't take the front row line into account, so you end up paying. And the sign says 5 minutes when the inside queue is half full. Also, the hulk is the only ride I've ever waited longer than the main queue for SR. Really, the Hulk's just all screwed up in terms of queueing, totally worth it, though.

Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread

Huh, for some reason I always missed the lattice below the track on I305, I always just thought the primary yellow supports connected directly to double-spined track. My bad. -
That makes sense, thanks for the answer.

I'm no engineer, but this whole support structure seems like overkill to me. If they're using double-spine track, why do they need triple reinforced I-Beams? What's different with this as opposed to something like I305? Is it the extra weight from the winged 4-across seating? -
Sorry to deviate from the topic, but what would be a good reason for running only one train? Aside from the other/s being in maintenance, of course.

I really don't have many, except youth groups/school field trips from jr. high in line. Last time that happened they decided they wanted to be cheerleaders in line for dragon challenge. For twenty five minutes I had to listen to them SCREAM letters at the tops of their lungs in a freaking TUNNEL. Gah!

What about cheese? I'm pretty sure Arrow would've tried it... On a different note, that interlocking cobra roll/batwing has me thinking. Has anyone ever put a vertical loop through the middle of a cobra roll? Sort of over the cross track at the halfway point. -

But...RRR is really I mean REALLY quiet, especially for its high speeds. But the almost non-stop lift hill is extremely noisy. But if Maurer learns from its mistakes and uses a dual chain system, they may also fix the rattle (forgive my noobishness, but I'm not entirely sure what component of the chain makes that racket). -
What are some loud rides and coasters?
OCJ48 replied to JFrombaugh's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Kumba has been running really loud of late, to the point that it was rumored (don't know if it was true) that last year some ride ops were given ear plugs. Still, nothing quite like that B&M roar... -

Those photos are absolutely gorgeous! What kind of camera were you using? -
Much as it is sad to see Jaws go, and much maligned and overly exploited though the Harry Potter theme is (or will be if they keep going), I think the Gringotts roller coaster has real promise, if they do in fact use the rumored combination of 3D screens and a launching, indoor Mummy-esque system. I think the overall zone should be friendlier for those who aren't familiar with the series, since Gringotts is basically a series of caves and London is a real place. Just my 2 cents.
