I went tothe Johnson Space Center in Houston a few years back. It is hard to believe how large the Saturn V is until you actually see the thing in person! -
I had always had some trouble on my Blackberry, coming here on my Android however works great.

Joyland was a interesting little park... The time I went about half the park was closed, which made it hard to justify the price of admission. Funny thing is a lot of people in Lubbock didn't even know the park was there! As you said it is a small town and a lot of the population is college kids. Many of them have no clue that the park exists. I will second your opinion on One Guys! That stands as the thing I miss most from Lubbock. My wife and I would me there for lunch almost every week for the better part of 3 years.

This thread kind of reminds me of a strange interactive after school special.

Sorry to hear that Eric... It's just a bad time to be out of work right now in general.

I would still tend to argue here that this is different. Forgetting for a moment our napalm-like cheese, this isn't like the child pulled it off of a strangers table, but rather off the serving counter. It is my contention that if Disney is going to be serving such a hot item that they should have taken additional precautions knowing that small children could easily reach up and grab the tray. That might have been as simple as calling the order with the cheese and simply keeping it out of reach until the people got up there. Additionally the bigger question here is the temperature of the cheese and whether or not that was extreme.I like hot food as much as the next person, but I shouldn't have to be concerned that if I drip a little on my unprotected skin I'm going to require skin graft. Again this seems like a very different situation. The fan wasn't defective in any way, shape, or form. You made the mistake and really there is no liability on the part of the fan maker. I'll be the first person to tell you that terrible accidents happen all the time in which there is nobody in the world that can or should be sued. If you had turned the fan on and electricity began to arc off of the blades, and you got hit by a stray bolt of electricity coming from the fan (pretty cool visual isn't it!) then you would have a pretty good chance of recovery. Accidents do happen and in your case it seems like there was nothing more than an unfortunate accident. I do want to state that I'm not trying to start any fights, I'm just doing my best to offer a slightly different view point on the matter.

^I don't think the parents are surprised that the Nacho cheese was hot, I think the problem rather is how hot the cheese was and the fact that cheese was left in a place where a child could easily pull it over. Even if the parents were watching the child (which they very possibly were) they may not have been able to react fast enough. Disney has a duty to keep their parks safe. It is foreseeable that a young child may be at a Disney park and if they are going to put superheated cheese within the reach of a child then I think they did breach that duty. As I said before just on its face this seems like a fairly strong case.

I tend to get slammed in these threads however I do have a few thoughts. First I'm not going to even touch on the Small World situation, ADA cases tend to be complex and I don't feel as though I have the knowledge to comment. As for the nacho cheese situation, looking at the little bit of information on the web as well as the picture that was posted I'm pretty sure I would represent that kid. Those look like some serious burns, and that child likely is going to have some lasting scarring. Burns to the face are going to be worse then burns on other parts of the body because you can't easily hide those and they can have an impact on the emotional health of the child. As far as if Disney was negligent, I can't really say since I don't know the exact facts of the case. However if the cheese was hot enough to cause serious burns I think there is a good chance that it was hotter than it needed to be. I would argue that this cup of cheese was placed on a food tray in a public area, and therefore it is foreseeable that a person would grab the tray and spill the cup of cheese on themselves. It's not like this kid got into a restricted area and climbed into a tub of napalm-like cheese, this was on a tray in a public area. I think this could very possibly be a strong case. Of course I don't know a lot of the more important facts, however I do know that a 4 year old kid was hurt and that enough would have me worried if I were Disney. If I was the attorney I would be sure to have that kid in the room during the trial and make sure that the jury was looking at him the entire time, that would be some powerful stuff and could really turn the case. With that said the most likely outcome is going to be the out of court settlement. Out of every 100 cases that are filed only 2-3 actually make it all the way to trial. Plus Disney doesn't want this trial, things like this can tarnish an image, so they should be pretty willing to settle.

After a year of drooling over it I bought myself a new TV. A 50 inch 3D Panasonic to be specific!

Funny this topic comes up now, about three days ago I bought tickets to go see OVO. I've never seen one before but I've always heard good things.

I think the problem with the Leafs is that some in the team have yet to buy into the idea of a full rebuild. The team seems to be trying to hold on to something with the thought that maybe next year they will be better with their current guys. Just my opinion but if fans are going to have to suffer through a long rebuild just do it. Give up on the idea of winning for a couple (more than a couple) of seasons, dump as much salary as possible and begin stockpiling draft picks. As a Kings fan I feel as though I'm an expert on rebuilding... We've been doing it since 1996!

Umm ... I'm pretty sure 4g does exist.

I don't really like to be all down about SFMM, seriously I try to see the positive in the things they do. However this is looking like one of the more uninspired moves I've ever seen the park make. I mean, really, would it have been that difficult to take down the old letters from the sign? I really think that the park is heading back to where is was during the late 1990's and the early part of the 2000's. Not saying that it is all a bad thing (who are we kidding, SFMM is and always will be a park built on roller coasters) but I have enjoyed all the effort to improve the overall experience over the past several years.

I took the outside stuff down last week, and today the tree and all the rest of the indoor stuff came down.

I just finshed up Uncharted 2 (I can't wait for Uncharted 3!!!) and am now getting ready to start on Infamous. Yeah, I know I'm behind on games, but I'm having fun catching up!

After talking with some family I have living in the area, this was the largest snow storm they have seen since at least the late 80's. They mentioned that this might have even been the biggest going back to the early 70's. In all the years that I lived in the area (about 20) I can remember snow flurries happening once or twice (though as you move towards Acton and Palmdale it becomes more common) in all those years. So the take away is that this is indeed some very rare weather for the area.
-
It is very strange seeing snow falling at the park! I'm not at all shocked to hear that the park closed early, the fact is that SFMM is not prepared for any amount of snow. The last time that I recall any measurable snow in the area was 1989 (I may be slightly off on the year, I would have been 4 and this is one of the earlier memories that I have). I'm hoping that a TPR member was at the park with a camera because I would love to see a few more pictures!

I'm going to have to join the club and say that Hard Rock Park wins by a landslide. That park was a perfect example of how NOT to run a business. Arrow going under was sad, but honestly their problems began in the later part of the 90's when they begun to lose relevancy. I don't (as another user said) see X by itself as being a mistake, I rather see it was a final gasp by a dying company. The other ride I would single out is Son of the Beast. There was so much hype and excitement for it and it fell so flat.
