  1. haha, ALL you are getting is a wing rider... we are getting your park's trash! wanna trade?

  3. How would they dig a trench...in the water...? That would make it a dam, stopping the flow of water through the creek. The cable is going to being running right over the water for part of it's return back to the station. From RCDB
  4. This ride looks like it's gonna have some pretty sweet headchoppers! The interaction that Wodan has with the other rides looks to be pretty cool too. blueFire, Atantica SuperSplash, and Wodan are all going to complement each other, and I think that all of the rides will be better because of their interactions with each other. Take notes Canada's Wonderland!
  5. I guess that I am one of the twelve that rode Zippin Pippin this year. I really had no idea that only twelve people that filled out this poll rode it. As for the rankings, I put it at my #11 spot. According to Mitch's poll, I've been on 46 wooden coasters I believe. And I'm being completely honest when I say that it's the 11th best wooden coaster I've been on. I can understand complaints from someone who hasn't been on it, but you really have to ride this one. There are some great moments of floater and ejector airtime, and there are even handchoppers! When GravityGroup built this ride, they were solely going off of pictures that they took at Libertyland to build the reincarnation of the old coaster. They definitely put a bit of a GG spin on it, and the finished product doesn't disappoint. They even run two trains on it, which is more than you can say for most GG caosters. I guess the main point I'm getting at with this though, is don't knock it until you've tried it. It's a really really really fun ride! EDIT: To give you an idea of my taste in coasters, this is how I voted in my poll this year. I don't really consider myself an "old school" guy. 6. These pictures turned out great! I also agree with A.J, the coaster is much more impressive in person than on a computer screen. The colors are really beautiful and it's a great looking ride. Glad I got to go on this awesome construction tour!
  7. These older rapids rides are becoming quite curious to me. I'm really not sure what's going to be happening to them in the near future. They maybe be starting to get old and outdated, but they are very hard from a business standpoint to tear down. From information I've gathered from other parks about these rides, they are going to be extremely expensive to tear down. For what reason? I really don't know. I've also heard that they are VERY expensive to operate. Pumping that many gallons of water each day is definitely not cheap. So will they be the next to go? Again, I'm not very sure, but I'm going to keep an eye on them.
  8. If I had to choose one of those three, I would probably choose the Maurer Sohne, just because they are actually really fun rides. The Vekoma launches are fun, but the launch system is very impractical and the rides themselves aren't a whole lot of fun. I have't been on an El Loco yet so I can't judge, but I would most closely compare it to a kind of Eurofighter-y design if I were to imagine what it would be like. Like previously stated, I would probably choose an Intamin launched coaster if I had a choice of anything. Maybe not an LSM launch because they go down quite often, but maybe an accelerator? My ideal coaster would be a Storm Runner-esque type ride that has a couple airtime hills and is maybe 800-1000 feet longer than Storm Runner. Just thinking out loud...
  9. Bitter, Party of one. Your table is now available.... Aww, c'mon! Any time anyone else in the world has said that, everyone goes "of course" or laughs about it. Just trying to make a little joke. I am quite excited for this ride and do expect it to be a little more reliable than previous models. Intimidator 305 is actually a pretty reliable coaster, so I expect Skyrush to be even better! The only thing I'm a little worried about is that they might have some sort of different platform for the loading of the trains, which they have never done before. That's really the only place something could go wrong.
  10. I've been on Mantis, Vortex (Carowinds), Iron Wolf, Green Lantern, and Georgia Scorcher. Of the five, I'd probably rank them: 1. Georgia Scorcher 2. Mantis 3. Green Lantern 4. Iron Wolf 5. Vortex Georgia Scorcher was just an awesome ride that was the perfect length, twisted and turned all over the place, and was actually pretty smooth. All of the other standups that I've listed were just very intense rides that really hurt my legs, whereas Georgia Scorcher was pretty enjoyable all around- not too forceful, just right. The only complaint I have is that their crew is RIDICULOUSLY slow. Like almost as slow as Manta's crew.
  11. ^ It's an Intamin. I won't believe that it's modern engineering at it's best until it stays operational for an entire day.
  12. The head on the front looks like Predator! A little too much if you ask me...copyright infringement!
  13. I'm gonna go ahead and call it the "wishbone" support and see if it catches on. It makes sense to me!
  14. I still think the footers look ridiculous for the turn after the drop... Maybe they'll do something busch-like and put ivy on them or something to make them pretty!
  15. The first time I rode El Toro and Skull Mountain (in 2006) was crazy. Both were in the back row, and I had no idea about what either coaster had to offer. As far as being taken by surprise, those two are definitely in my top first drops. I also love the first drops on Magnum, Maverick, Hades, Manta (I don't think anyone has mentioned Manta yet), and as much as I hate to say it, Millennium Force. Of course all of these would have to be ridden in the back seat for full effect.
  16. In my opinion, Pegasus and Zeus at Mount Olympus are two of the most violent coasters I've ever ridden. That last turn on Pegasus is probably the roughest moment on any coaster I've ever been on as well. So much pain on such a little ride!
  17. 1988 brochure for cedar point showing off the announcement of magnum! sweet!
  18. Am I the only one that thinks the gigantic footers around the bridge drop look ridiculous? They are HUGE compared to the supports that will be going in there.
  19. Honestly, the Moser Gyro Loop that was on display at IAAPA this year was the best flat ride I've ever been on. It was only about 20 feet tall, but that fact that you can control it is AWESOME! It would be totally impractical in any amusement park for its extremely low capacity, but it is definitely cooler and more intense than any flat ride I've ever been on.
  20. I have learned while in line that people are creepy stalkers! Chadster can vouch for me!
  21. Not necessarily. The way I envision all of this happening is that Amity and the rest of Lost Continent will be removed to make a "entrance" and "exit" for the monorail. Wizarding World at Islands is already a pretty small area, and Lost Continent is pretty desolate now. I feel like making the rest of Lost Continent into Diagon Alley would be pretty sweet. Maybe for now Lost Continent will remain, but you never know, Phase 3 could be the rest of that area going down.
  22. Not sure that it'll bring any more tourism than there already is to the Dominican Republic, but I'm sure a lot of people that are already visiting will stop by. And hey, another amusement park is always a good thing. I wonder if there are any coasters planned for this park...?
  23. I like the idea of the finished Wizarding World at Universal Studios Hollywood. But during the time where they are demolishing/ constructing this area, there won't be very much to do in the park. And this construction will be going on for multiple years, right? I have a bad feeling Universal will be in for a bad couple of years before Potter opens...but it'll easily pay off in the future.
  24. I'd say my favorite memory was going on a trip to Carowinds, Myrtle Beach, Kings Dominion, and Busch Gardens Williamsburg with my girlfriend! I had a great time and got to go to Carowinds for the first time. Afterburn FTW
