Do you know if it's any more than just a bunch of "cutouts" with lights attached to them? I remember years and years ago we went (to the fairgrounds?) and there was like no variety it was just lights around a skeleton shape similar to the candy canes here, spelling out certain things or pictures on a giant field. Since it goes through the campground I am hoping there would be more on the trees and stuff. Any idea? We'll probably check it out since we are local and have SFA passes and I confirmed on FB they accept other 2021 passes besides SFDL

Jersey Devil Coaster @ SFGADV... great ride and very comfortable! Loved it. -
Bought myself a Pixel 6 Pro. The first time I've ever spent more than $200 on a phone and I'm loving it. Taking lots of photos of my 3 cats

.... you mean this? Yeah, my wife was not a fan lol ... but she also likes Olive Garden, so there's that.... PS: Oh, and flight of passage is just mediocre. That's something we both can agree upon. Then again that might be because we rode Rise of the Resistance the day before. I know, completely different, but still...

So I went to the park yesterday (Sunday 10/17) and here is a quick rundown. We got there about 2:30 pm since we tried out Chett and Matt's for lunch since everyone talks about it (pizza was just "ok", prices were good, but service was horrible) and also we stopped at harneys market nearby to pick up some sweet sweet ciderboys hard cider (we can't get it locally in Buffalo and it's our favorite brand so we always stop in and stock up whenever we go to CP.) ANYWAYS... raptor had at least a 90 min wait when we arrived, FL+ took me about 10 min. Man I love this ride, unfortunately I always have to ride the same row for the big boy seats. Boo Streak (yes) had almost a full queue but no line for FL. Excellent. Ride was really fun on it in the back row. Millennium Force had at least an hour wait, FL+ was about 10-15 min (they were actually staggering the ramp and not allowing it to fill all the way to the bottom, however, there was no grouper so the station was a bit flooded with people so it took a bit longer than normal. I'm starting to love MF the more that I ride it. But still not the greatest thing ever. Maverick was about a 15 min wait, with a full queue on the regular line. Rode again at night at while the almost full queue was still there, the ride was a walk-on for FL+!! Holy crap this ride at night in the pitch black tunnel, and having all the fog around during the ride, was my best ride ever on that thing. I love Maverick so much. Valravn broke down as I was about to get on. The FLP line for Steel Vengeance was the longest I've ever seen it. All the FL queue was full (and this is with the new layout). I waited about 10 min and never moved so I bailed. Had to be at least 45-60 min and I wasnt going to wait that long in a FL line when I've gone other times during the season and don't have to deal with that. Now here's where things get a little crazy.... so, typically we would go the first weekend of halloweekends in September as "tradition" however, it didn't work out for us this year. We thought for once we would go in October to finally experience the outdoor stuff (blood on the bayou, scare zones, cornstalkers, cut through cove) but holy crap was it busy. Not the Sundays we are used to where almost all haunts are a walk-in and rides in the front are a walk on. I knew it would be a lot busier than our normal Sunday, but, damn. We got through everything, but just some general comments. - Cornstalkers (2.0)... wow, of all the Cedar Fair parks this is BY FAR the worst. Like. Not even close. You literally walk on a boardwalk barely the width of a wheelchair just about the ENTIRE time and it's just corn the whole way. There is literally not a single prop other than corn in this maze. There are a few times where an actor is squeezed in with the corn or behind the corn, but man, this was terrible. The line was absolutely insane insane insane (easily an hour and a half but I don't know for sure) luckily we didn't have to wait in it. - meat meat meat typical slaughterhouse this hasn't changed over the years. The estate, hexed, freak show, same old same old but decent. Deprivation I enjoyed a lot more than I normally do. Regular lines were long. No way you can do everything without fright lane. - blood on the bayou... so.. you literally walk 10 min to get to it.... it is laid out sooooo poorly. Not very long. Don't go when it initially opens with the hoards of people because the walkthrough will be really bad and you can't get any scares because they're are just too many people walking through it. Then after it's done you need to walk back on the same 10 min path fighting traffic going the other way. No bueno. All the kids and multiple people at the end were all like "that's it?". Sets were OK. - Cut through cove was neat being under Maverick. It was decent as well and since it's an outdoor walkthrough there is no line for this either. Thankfully. Anyways, despite the negative, we still had fun, but I would not be caught dead in those lines, for rides or haunts. Not worth paying for Fright Lane because the haunted stuff just aren't very good. (then again we are blessed to have gone to places like Reapers Revenge, hotel of horror, halls of horror, among many other unique haunts around the country) so the Cedar Fair ones just don't cut it anymore and not worth paying extra for. So in summary, Sunday was crowded and would definitely not recommend without FL+/Fright Lane I didn't get home until 3am and I ended up calling in to work today, where the whole point of doing Sunday is so I don't need to call in.... If I knew I was going to do that, I would have taken a Thursday off of work to go when there is no crowds and I could walk on to Steel Vengeance all night lol -
My annual JBPP post. Jackbox Party Pack 8 was released yesterday and I played with a group of 7 friends over ZOOM (in addition to playing with strangers online a week leading up to it) 1) I thought the "wheel of enormous proportions" good and very different from the other Jackbox trivia games. Pretty fun! I wasn't looking forward to this one but actually playing it definitely changed my opinion. 2) "Poll Mine" is not a funny or "exciting" game but it gets you thinking and it's a fun team game. Sort of like a weird family feud? I liked it a lot surprisingly as well! Works great with a huge stream group, too 3) "Drawful Animate" is more of the same of Drawful 2 with just a few new mechanics, and the prompts are more outrageous so it really is tough to seek out the right ones, but still fun. After playing it a few times I started to love it more. Which makes sense. I also think having 10 players is too many for this game. 4) Job Job is really fun and funny. I love the concept and it's executed well. You mix up other people's sentences to make your own to answer questions, but it is clever and fun. It sounds not very fun but I like it a lot, as I expected since I like weird word games. 5) Weapons Drawn... I'm still very confused by it. LOOOOONNNGGG game. Not very fun based on my two experiences with it, despite loving social deduction games? No interest in playing this one again honestly. Overall, its another great pack with (mostly) unique games. 4 out of 5 ain't bad.

Got to ride Jersey Devil and my first RMC single rail for the first... (second, third, fourth, fifth) time last weekend (no line on Saturday morning!). I gotta say not only was there no discomfort with the restraints for me, I was not expecting the shoulders to be so loosey goosey and not be stiff to the shoulders. I liked the ride a lot! Wife likes the restraints too. Weird that they are so polarizing to people. Oh, and while the front is fun, it's totally a back seat ride. Not a bad seat though. I am excited to try one of the more compact ones one day.

Just made a quick trip to Dorney for haunt. #1 highlight should be obvious.... Demon Drop. Man I love that thing. Two of the mazes were just terrible. The others looked nice and had some decent actors in some, but overall not very good and very little scares despite going through as just the two of us through almost all the mazes. In the blackout house, right near the end I managed to get lost and go through an emergency exit (because I thought it was the end and I didn't see any more arrows; the other houses had real exits through the emergency exit final door) and went through a door which took me back to the beginning of the maze LOL my wife who was in front of me got to the end of the house and waited 8 min for me to get out. I don't think the people behind me who followed me were too happy lol!! Talon ops made me want to scream more than the houses... guy was CLEARLY too big... guy starts arguing in his seat and refused to get up... they unlock and relock and try again, not even close to getting the buckle to latch (also note that the larger seat is right next to him but they didn't move him or try to get him on another train or anything so the train sat there about 15 min while they kept trying for no reason). Rides had the longest lines I've ever seen but I had free FL/FrL despite having a one train wait it took 20 min to get off Talon. Steel Force actually had some decent floater air because it was a full train! Never seen that happen at Dorney before, lol. Anyways, if you are looking for a good haunt, I'd stay away from Dorney this year. We are going to hit up Reapers Revenge and Hellstead Manor after a quick trip to great Adventure in the morning so I can (hopefully) ride my first ever RMC single rail. Huge thanks to Mike240SX for the free fright lane tip. Even though it wasn't the best visit ever, it was better than sitting at home. And... Demon Drop. C'mon. Oh, and $10.01 for a waffle cone full of twist custard at Rita's, ouch. No platinum discount. Good thing I didn't get sprinkles lol. It WAS good though

Totally regret not going yesterday. I like everyone else saw the forecast for rain all day and said nope. Shoulda trusted my gut and went. Didn't even rain from what I saw the entire operating day. SV and MF were walkon or nearly walkon from what I saw photos of and read about. That means practically everything else was too. This is the second time I've done this. We wanted to go because it would be the first time we could do scare zones on a Sunday in history, but were afraid if it rained they wouldn't be out anyways. Bah. -
Cool, looking forward to the full report. Still debating, but yeah I'm thinking of going Friday night, but nearby and even on the entire route to Great Adventure I can't seem to find a hotel less than $170 that isn't sold out or looking at "recent" reviews have a bunch of horror stories lol. I did reserve one half way between but spending over $200 on a room is not what I typically am used to lol. The plan was Dorney Friday night, Great Adventure during the day Saturday, and then drive towards home and hit two local haunts (reapers revenge and hellstead manor). I've been to a lot of the other haunts in the Philly area so figured I'd hit two farther on the way home in the evening since Six Flags is always a shitshow. Sounds like I'll be making the entire ride home at this rate and pulling over at a rest stop if needed afterwards.

Alpengeist, Invadr, and Griffon are all great rides despite not looking like much. It's unfortunate you missed out on them. Taking two rides on Nessie over those? Questionable decision indeed... lol. Sounds like Quick Queue was needed that day. I agree Busch food isn't really that great anymore in general. The smokehouse was always hit or miss for me at all the SEAS parks. Glad you had a decent trip, but I really think you missed out on more than you think you did. Like you said, next time!

Funny I walk by a Patina restaurant every day to get from the parking lot to my job, but I've never been inside or ever even read or hear about it. (they are not open for lunch though, otherwise my boss probably would have talked about it a lot and taken me there since he is a foodie and tells me about ALL the food all around WNY lol) https://www.patinagroup.com/patina-250/menu I never realized it was a "thing" or that they were all over Disney until today. Might have to check it out one of these days. It has good reviews, too. Obviously it's not themed like a Disney restaurant would be, but if the food is good... that's all I care about

Thanks for typing all that up and taking photos. Sounds like an awesome time. The fright lane doesn't have a date on it? You could use one pass over two nights? I think you lucked out / that doesn't sound right to me, but, luckily it worked out for you lol. What would prevent someone from buying on a cheaper day and then using it a different day? Despite CP being my home park in my eyes (4 hours away lol) I've never actually done a "night" of the Halloween stuff or seen the scare zones. We always go on Sunday due to lack of lines for the houses, but they only do the indoor haunts on Sundays. The game changer this year will be Sundays in October, though, which will be open later. I think I'll finally be able to get the best of both worlds which is cool. Glad to hear you had a great visit! -
Unfortunately when I went a few weeks ago I didn't think it would be worth getting a hopper or staying an additional day at Studios just to be able to see the Bourne show (the price difference is ridiculous for one attraction, well, the Harry Potter train but I don't care about that, same with F&F) when I could go on all the other worthwhile things during HHN... but that didn't play out at all because I didn't even get to ride mummy and gringots or do anything else but the houses during HHN (we even did the after 10pm HHN Express for half price -- not a lot of people know about it) and I completely forgot it includes the rides too (not that I think they needed it) but we were REALLY hurting by 12:15 at a 1am close which was only exasperated by running to Velocicoaster at 6:35p from the farthest point at Studios since it just opened for the day. We had leftover houses on our Express because we didn't want to loop back and repeat the ones we waited in regular lines for, and I could barely, BARELY walk, but I did get in all 10 houses and Beetlejuice twice because my wife is obsessed with Beetlejuice and I skipped it the first time to ride Velocicoaster. All in all a good time but as I stated before I much prefer houses/haunts without conga lines as you get a better chance to soak it all in and get more interaction with the actors. It's not the lines themselves that bother me at HHN it's the fricken layout of the lines and the ridiculously long walks to GET to the lines. lol

Just watched this. So cool. (Note: I knew practically nothing about this park and not very much about this ride, and haven't followed this thread, so I was pretty impressed by this video). It was uploaded a few days ago. Knew nothing about the hotel, or apparently the transfer track that lifts through the actual bar/restaurant, if I understood that correctly? The entire area and music really is amazing. -
Monster Stomp was a decent enough show (though I'm not really into the whole song and dance thing, they did have a cool "knife" segment. The bars seemed really nicely and heavily themed, though I only looked in from the outside. I didn't have anything to drink. The actors did a pretty good job, but I only found two of the four houses to be decently done set-wise. The fact that they don't do Conga Lines like Horror Nights does always give SEAS a step up in scare factor. Always a positive. I had high hopes for the Wild Arctic one but that ended up being the worst. The scare zones were very basic, but again, I think there are more scares at SeaWorld than say HHN. The makeup was pretty impressive in the scare zones too. Set-wise was very very eh. Not usually one to complain, but the night was a bit tainted and very frustrating by some of the guest services staff and the staff at the front of ALL the houses who were completely clueless on procedures that were told to us, so my group had some major ADA issues, but they did give us tickets for next year to try and make things right. They would have let us go again this year but we are no longer local and wouldn't have an opportunity to use the tickets. Hopefully nobody else has to go through what we went through. I understand it was their second day and have kinks to work out, but it was a complete shitshow and I feel bad for anyone who needed special accommodations. Overall I think Tampa is a much better value, but Seaworld was decent enough to warrant a visit. Just make sure you understand the cheese factor going into it and the fairly generic themes in the houses, and you will have a good time. Don't expect Horror Nights. A much more "budget-ty" haunt. Which is not surprising, lol.

When you say it's not 3d anymore do you just mean it's still broken and not synced right all the time or do they literally not hand you glasses anymore and changed the video to 2d / unblurred? It would be great if they actually changed it. -
Just wanted to chime in and say that Velocicoaster is the real deal. The restraint system caught me off guard right away, the fact the the "lap" bar did not touch my lap at all and had several inches of room between me and the restraint. This provided an even crazier ride. I know people have watched the POV and know what to expect but POVs don't do the ride justice. I really really really really wish I could have rode it more than once. The ride closed around 10 or 10:30 am or so for weather. When the rain stopped after we had lunch it reopened, and when we walked by we saw an empty train going around the track. Turns out they were cycling people off and the ride was have a technical delay. We rode some other stuff and came back and just waited and waited and waited. There was nothing else left in the park I wanted to ride and we needed a rest so we just sat in front of the entrance for a few hours hoping something would start up. It never did. We had Horror Nights to get to and the ride still hadn't opened by 5:30. It was so disappointing as there would be no other chance for me to ride it anytime soon. Went over to horror Nights and did a few houses. I got an alert on my phone that the ride reopened. You have to be shitting me. I was in a long line for the house and debated my next move. I looked on my phone to see if they offered re-entry into Horror Nights but saw nothing on the official site about it. I also found a 2021 unofficial guide that said reentry is not allowed. I thought this was weird because I could have sworn people said they ate at City Walk and came back in. I decided to ask in a HHN Facebook fan group and immediately got answers that I would be able to get back in. It was now 7:35, I was all the way in the back of studios near MEN IN BLACK and IOA closes at 8pm. I said F it and left my group behind (we were all in pain from walking around all day and they didn't think they could make it) so me and my Jell-O legs booked it as fast I could to the ride, hoping for the best. It didn't help my phone had 2% battery which was holding my tickets. Put it in airplane mode to conserve energy. So I ended up making it by 7:55. The line was posted 45 min and single rider was closed. I waited it out and am so happy I did. For anyone wondering about lockers they work by scanning your ticket. I only had a digital ticket on my phone so I had no idea how this would work. Turns out they had little cards with barcodes on them to hand out for those in that situation. Phew. Anyways, the ride is fantastic. The last inversion is absolutely bonkers insane. I loved it. Yesterday was a crazy day for sure. I ended up in row 2 which made it very hard to see due to the high backs but I didn't care. I would love to try it again in the back I think I would have enjoyed it even more, but alas the ride closed for the day by the time I got off. That's my story for now.
