  1. Magic Mountain was a very good park! Twisted Colossus, Full Throttle, and Tatsu were my top three but I didn't have a chance to ride X2. Twisted Colossus was my first RMC, and will likely crack the top ten list somewhere in the 5-8 range. Lex Luther was the best drop ride I've had the pleasure of riding. I'll add to this later when I am at a computer, but those are my preliminary thoughts.
  2. I will also hop on the GateKeeper train here. It's my fourth favorite ride in the park behind the Intamin trio. Raptor is a close second. Was only able to get one lap on Rougarau and it didn't really stand out in a notable way. Can't wait for Valravn, which looks like it has a real chance to be the best B&M in the park.
  3. I will be at the park tomorrow in a Phoenix Knoebels shirt. I'll look out for you guys, happy riding!
  4. Bungee Jump - Might be the scariest thing I've ever done. The fear of jumping off the edge, and the initial fall prior to the rope catching are both amazing. Sky Coaster - These are great. Love them. Slingshot - It was worth doing.. once. Anymore than that, and I can't justify it not being a waste of money. Within the next three weeks, I'll have Skydived and jump off the Stratosphere, so I look forward to adding them to this comparison.
  5. ^ Hard to market a 105 foot tall GCI when you have the coasters Cedar Point has. ^^ You see things through an Intamin tilted lens, my friend. ^^^ Those seem to be the only elements they put on Dive Coasters, for the most part. Just glad Cedar Point is getting a coaster with more of those elements than any other of it's type. It will be interesting to read the reviews, I expect them to be mostly positive with a slightly mixed reaction.
  6. Double post. if anyone is heading to the point next weekend, snap some photos of Valravn!
  7. I have to laugh at the guy trying to act like the B&Ms at Cedar Point are somehow less reliable. Not even close.
  8. I also believe Cedar Point is going to wait, since they didn't jump on the RMC train early. Better to have the best of its kind. 2020 is a possibility, but I really think Cedar Point wants to go big.
  9. I won't be. I have only gone once in the last three years, and that was because I had 3 hours to kill prior to my Cedar Fair trip (might as well add in the local park!)
  10. Amazing photos. The Skeleton Crew reminds me of a Daft Punk music video, i hope they danced to 'Around the World.'
  11. I do agree that Wild Eagle is a really enjoyable and re-ridable coaster. Gatekeeper, on the other hand, is less impressive. See, they can be very enjoyable coasters. I'm sure if KD were to receive one, it would easily be in the top 3 ridden rides at the park. It would be the most ridden ride at the park, unless it had shorter trains like Thunderbird. Count me in with the crowd that thinks GateKeeper is at least very good. I love the throughput, the location, the keyholes, and that first drop is amazing. Not my first choice of coaster for any Cedar Fair park, because I want them to add variety, and I don't want Wing Riders to be the new invert (while good, they blended together during my mega-Cedar Fair trip) Edit - I think Valleyfair and Canada's Wonderland are next on the coaster list. My reasoning? CW gets huge crowds, and Valleyfair is my home park.
  12. Give me the version at Knoebels and I'd agree with you. Best flat ride this side of Demon Drop
  13. In theory yes, but a ton of those complaints on the Facebook page are from families. Back in 04, it wasn't flyers that got my family out to Cedar Point (many of whom still make frequent trips), it was Top Thrill Dragster. A lot of families want coasters too, and that's what enthusiasts fail to realize.
  14. Everyone else is complaining, I might as well too. I don't like the copy / paste nature of these additions to the parks. Both Cedar Fair and Six Flags are guilty. I'm less and less inclined to go to multiple parks in the chain when they aren't all that different. I see how it makes sense, business wise, but it's not like I'm going out for fast food... This is also the reason I hope Valleyfair, when (god willing) they finally get a coaster, does NOT go with an Invert. I can't even remember the differences between Talon and Patriot at this point...
  15. almost as disappointing as the Vikings game last night... Nah, this was what most of us pretty much expected. Still, Unless I get in on another mega trip, I'm not planning on renewing my Cedar Fair pass
  16. Don't think like that, man! History tends to repeat itself, remember that next time you try getting excited.
  17. Out of those, I've only been on Phoenix... I love Phoenix. Everything about the Phoenix, even that terrible Fall out Boy tribute to Phoenix is great.
  18. That logic doesn't compute. Sounds like the park will be getting a coaster though, and they should. Another high capacity B&M, so I'd assume Ziz is going to be a Wing Coaster. Cedar Fair really has done right by this park. Just wish I didn't wait to take my trip up there, now I"ll have to wait until 2017.
  19. This is going to be good. based on the recent history of Cedair Fair (2015), they only delay coaster announcements.
  20. I know the debates have been done before, but I'm not sure why people think it's not worth discussing. These are two of the best coaster parks in the world, and I based a lot of the info and opinions provided to choose going to Cedar Point instead of Magic Mountain way hack when. I love reading ride comparisons between GateKeeper and YOLO. And I can't wait until next month when I'm finally able to add to the discussion having been to both parks.
  21. Adventure Dome, Stratosphere, and then Six Flags Magic Mountain.
  22. the new Valravn midway is going to be fantastic. The station looks pretty impressive too. Just, please, for the love of god, add some shade.
  23. Yeah, I agree, if they were getting the Flyers that Knoebels has.. Best flat ride ever. Except Demon Drop. Demon Drop is the best ever.
  24. ^ You are forgetting Wicked Twister, which also has a 90 degree spike. A few things I really like about this coaster *The ride after the MCBR. The elements they added look unique, that second inversion and the airtime hill could add more to the ride than people expect. * The station - Nobody seems to be talking about it, but it looks pretty slick, especially with the brick underneath. * The new walkway / entrance. Obviously it won't match GateKeeper with the keyholes, but it all appears to be updated in a similar fashion to the GateKeeper plaza. That alone is a massive upgrade. * Height/Speed/Weight ratio. Best in the business... * Location of the lift hill right above the new Marina entrance plaza. * GateKeeper restraints Things I don't like. * Theme. Not a huge deal, and we honestly don't know what this coaster will have because we only saw the rendering. * Shade in queue line. Maybe the massive track will shade us from the sun. Conclusion My favorite park adding what will likely be a top 3 or 4 coaster at the park, and likely the best B&M. A coaster with high capacity, good reliability, is easily re-rideable, is marketable (breaks 10 records!), and adds to the already legendary skyline... and if for some reason it's awful, I'll always have Maverick.
  25. Clearly trolling, it isn't even a debate. Downloading the VR ap as we speak.
