Gas Prices where you live
Mr Stratosphere replied to RtherBOnACoaster's topic in Random, Random, Random
I only gas up at Chevron and it's $3.61 up there for regular -
Yeah this is dumb!! Like no one will notice that you have Roller Coaster track. Wonder what he was going to do with it. In Las Vegas there has been a growing problem with copper theft, even where people were taking apart street lights to take the wires out. They would take the copper to a recycling center for cash. Suicide at Disneyland Hotel
Mr Stratosphere replied to Drop-Out's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I agree, I mean what if families that are on vacation witnessed it. It probably didn't just ruin their vacations, but if a child witnessed it, they will remember it for live. Unfortunately in Vegas you hear about suicide all the time. John -

Thanks for posting all of these!! It's great to look back and see how times have changed. I remember going to Disneyland when ToonTown opened and we waited for a long time to get on Roger Rabbit's Cartoon Spin when it opened. John -
Luckily everything worked out and both insurance companies contacted the DMV and this crap is off of my chest!! Hopefully I didn't jinx myself.. John

Rim Runner Leaving Las Vegas
Mr Stratosphere replied to HEADCHEEZ's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
No, Canyon Blaster never received new trains, they were just painted pink and one car was removed per train. The original trains had 7 cars. The trains now have 6. I also believe that Rim Runner was made by Arrow. Can anyone else confirm that?? John -
Rim Runner Leaving Las Vegas
Mr Stratosphere replied to HEADCHEEZ's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I know Rim Runner took up a lot of space. But if they are freeing up a lot of space with this along with the coaster, It sure would be nice to get a log flume in there. John -
Rim Runner Leaving Las Vegas
Mr Stratosphere replied to HEADCHEEZ's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
They used to have a place where on lookers could watch and get soaked from the boat. They then made that area a Virtual Arcade Game area and couldn't get the equipment wet. A smaller splash prevented the area from getting wet. They also added some glass to cover some areas. Also limiting the number of riders prevented everyone from getting totally soaked from the ride. While browsing the web I found this Big Shot Simulation Its not in English but here is the link www.djjavixxxxx.net/index.php?id=simflash When the Big Shot first Opened it had its original "Space Shot" banners on it. The ride was originally going to be called Space Shot but later the name was changed to Big Shot. This picture here thanks to Joyrides.com shows the banners on the ride that were the oldest. Replacing the Space Shot banners. This is an artist rendering of the original Big Shot Logo, except it said Space Shot The Big Shot has had many little changes to its banners from certain sayings and themes they used to promote the tower such as: "Live it Up" "Can’t Top This" "Blast out of this world" And lastly always had "World's Highest Thrill Ride" Pictured below is unfortunately the current state of the Big Shot Its naked, no banners and from what I heard its the way it's going to stay. The picture below is the old paint scheme for the High Roller. This was only an advert, the train always had OTSRs The train also had a similar logo to this which said Let it Ride High Roller This picture below shows the High Roller's train after a recent paint job and removal of two of the train's cars. Notice the restrains have not been padded yet which made for quite a painful ride. The train was painted yellow so the train could be seen from ground level. This picture below was taken on High Roller's last night and you can see the padding that was added and the logo on the front of the train. The tower never switched the trains, however every year the ride would have an annual rehab where the train was taken off of the tracks and out of the tower for refurbishment. I'm still looking for the videos and as soon as I find them I will upload them. Hope some of the info I posted helped out a bit. John -

Rim Runner was never the same after they closed the front and back rows of the boats, making the splash a lot smaller. John -

Hey I do remember that video. I also have a DVD somewhere that has the promo for the tower itself. Its where lightning strikes the ground and all of a sudden the tower comes up. I will go and look for it, and post it here if I find it. -
Disneyland Mark VII Monorail Discussion
Mr Stratosphere replied to bflag's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Sorry, but I honestly hope those trains do end up in a museum somewhere or get used somewhere else. These trains have such a significant history to them. They deserve much better than this. John -
Disneyland Mark VII Monorail Discussion
Mr Stratosphere replied to bflag's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well in 1995 Walt Disney World's Mark IV Coral and Lime Monorail trains came to Las Vegas to run on the original 1 mile stretch from the MGM Grand to Bally's (now the Las Vegas Monorail). These trains first ran in 1977 at the Walt Disney World Resort. From 1995 to 2003 They ran in Las Vegas, unfortunately the current state of the trains is really dismal. These trains did a lot in their life time serving millions of riders. I found a few pictures at MousePlanet.com, some warning though. These Pictures are really sad. Since these pictures were taken the trains have been moved, I don't know where they are now, but still its sad to see these trains in this shape. John -
^ Yeah I have the same feeling too. Not looking forward to this crap again. John

Great Photos!! Thanks for posting! I really want to try and get to the Point sometime this year. John -
So here's the update.. I woke up this morning at 6am to get to the DMV at 7. My Mom had to take me because legally I cannot drive my car. So after spending 5 hours at the DMV they verbally contacted my car insurance company that I did in fact have insurance on my car the first month I owned it. So now they put a pardon on my suspension of car registration. Now my insurance has until May 16 to send in a letter to the DMV or else I have to go through all of this crap again. John

A Man gets Trapped in an Elevator for 41 Hours!
Mr Stratosphere replied to BelizeIt's topic in Random, Random, Random
Man that really sucks. The longest I've been stuck in an elevator was 5 hours at the Stratosphere Tower here in Vegas. Also been stuck in a parking garage elevator at the MGM Grand for about 2 hours. John
