Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

Something tells me that if CW gets the dark ride in 2014, CP will get the same one (or different theme, but same system) in 2015. Edit: Speaking of 2014, here's another tease -

I don't think there is much room for anything in the Halloween area. It's likely that we will see a ride removal (Scrambler, maybe?). -

Friday the 13th of September is my best guess so, Halloween-area attraction maybe? Edit: ^ Beat me to it! -
Is anybodys home park their favorite?
Koasterking48 replied to pkdcoaster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The three most frequent parks I visit yearly are Holiday World (closest), Kings Island, and Cedar Point. I can say that Splashin' Safari is my favorite water park with three "bonus" coasters (rest of their flats are pretty lame/common among other parks). However my favorite dry park is Cedar Point or Busch Gardens Williamsburg. Love them both to death. -

A Planet Snoopy/Kiddy Kingdom merger actually sounds like a good idea! That area looks pretty dated right know and could use a refresh. -

It's because Holiday World is very good about keeping their projects under wraps, so you won't really know much about it till announcement day. People on TPR claim they have something big within a three year span, but I've not heard or read about that anywhere else but here. And these big projects will most likely not start till 2015 at the earliest. -

There is a HUGE difference between a wooden roller coaster feeling like a wooden roller coaster, and a wooden roller coaster BEATING THE LIVING SH1T OUT OF YOU!!!! I can handle a wooden roller coaster that rides "rough around the edges", but if the types of beatings I've received on The Voyage or Hades 360 is your thing, knock yourself out! (literally!) I won't be riding and I certainly won't be putting my child on the ride! --Robb I've never understood the "wooden coasters are supposed to be rough" mentality, either. I think the amazing and smooth airtime you get on rides like Balder and El Toro would change a lot of minds. Leaving a wood coaster with a headache and major spine adjustment is not my idea of "fun." Yes I also don't get people who think that a very VERY rough coaster should continue to stay rough because it's "fun." I understand the older coasters (like pre-1950s) to be rough to some extent, but a 2006 (or 2005 in Hades' case) wood coaster should not be nearly unbearbly rough. What's "fun" about that?! -

I'll be at Rock the World next Saturday and will give "fresh" opinion of the ride's current state, but this season hasn't been the worst we have seen The Voyage. May was pretty "smooth" but July got worse as I had expected. However, the worst times I can think of were 2010 and 2011 when it was very rough (nowhere near Hades though). Robb is very correct about HW just doing a full retrack, though Topper Track would really be nice. Honestly, I have no clue what the park will do next. -

Avoid Saturdays at all costs. I made the mistake of visiting on a Saturday in Halloweekends and it was packed (Quite a few years before Fast Lane). I'd still take Friday and Sunday with FL+ on at least one of those days if that's an financial option for you. -

Well, I knew it was going to eventually fall through with all the problems, but I tried to stay optimistic. At least they maintain the track and not let the PTC's rip it up. Hopefully they will look into RMC topper track. -
That sounds about right for the Voyage.I think the Voyage is just to intense for a lot people. There really isn't a spot for you to catch your breath except for the mid-course break run, which just goes by really fast since HW doesn't use it. I totally get why people don't like the Voyage, but the reasons they hate it, are the reasons I absolutely love it. In 2010, which was by far the Voyage's roughest season. Me and 2 my friends rode it 5 times in a row and absolutely loved it, while my other friend rode it once, and had to go sit down because the ride gave him a jarring headache. The Voyage is disliked just because it is rough. No other reason. The layout is fantastic and decently smooth up until the turnaround. I do admit, the PTC's are pretty uncomfortable since you get slammed into your riding partner often.

^ Some local schools start late August, so you may have decent crowds. Thursdays are okay, but Fridays can get moderately busy (1-1 1/2 hours on big coasters). If you plan on getting FL+, get it Friday for sure. Pinks is expensive, but good. If you want a decent deal on pizza, my favorite is the place right by Snake River Falls' exit (I think it's called something like Frontier Refreshments?). Do NOT go to Subway by the Antique Cars because you will ripped off. Mean Streak (but that's a given) and Draggin' Iron are lame, but everything else is running smoothly/normally. Make sure to ride Blue Streak because its definitely running really well. If you plan on staying at a CP resort, use the early entry on Gatekeeper once, and then head to Millennium and Maverick. Once the park opens, hit Dragster as that line stays pretty much the same all day (may shorten out early evening). I'd reccomend front row on everything except Dragster and Millie at night due to the bugs. Seat 1-3 on Magnum is considered legendary to some enthusiasts and I can verify some pretty intense (almost painful) ejector airtime on it. Hope this helps! -

The only thing that I don't like about this park is the names, but you already stated that they aren't staying. I hope to see more out of this! -

^ If you MUST ride Stunt Coaster, do it in the late evening because lines for that are stupidly long at certain times of the day. FoF and Firehawk should be done first thing when you get in the park because Firehawk is a slow moving line and FoF gets pretty busy too. -
