  1. Penn SFMM or SFGAdv?
  2. I always thought about this, but it makes no sense on a flying coaster. On a flying coaster, you don't see the track and the winged design will have little effect on the coaster.
  3. Last week, I watched Amazing Spiderman at the Regal Theaters Oceanside. It was a good movie, but not great. It's only a tad better than the original Spiderman movie mainly because of the effects. Usually, in superhero movies, the villians are a bit lamer than the superhero, but the Lizard wasn't lame at all. I would rate Amazing Spiderman 3/5 stars. It's just an average superhero film.
  4. I've been on neither but I always hear very good things about Talon, so I'm choosing Talon. Legoland California or Legoland Florida?
  5. Dragon (LLC). A really nice family coaster. (Photo credit: RCDB)
  6. so you think its for SFHH? I never seen a water slide with these "square shaped" supports, they're all cylindrical. So, if it not a Sky Screamer or a water slide, then what is it?
  7. This is not something a GP said, this is something a GP did: So, I was at LLC today and had a park meet up with SoCalCoasters. When we were in the queue line for Coastersaurus and this one little kid was standing on the fence, just feet from the rails of Coastersaurus and it looked very dangerous. The parents really didn't care that their kid did that and didn't make a big deal about it. I mean this is just odd to see parents not knowing or caring that their child is dangerous. If the kid was injured by the coaster, the parents would blame the park and before you know it, there will be a covered queue and lots of bad publicity.
  8. Tokyo Disneyland, they're not as rude. Big Grizzly Mtn. or Cars Land?
  9. I rode one: Boomerang (SFDK) and it is currently the only coaster I hate, but in January, I'm riding Boomerang (KBF) which I'm preparing to be horrible.
  10. 8/10 - Crutchfield always was the odd part. (Also, your videos are awesome)
  11. Verbolten, for originality. Kings Island or Kings Dominion?
  12. Legoland California on Saturday.
  13. Yes Do you want to go to the moon?
  14. Cedar Fair Do you like your username?
  15. After watching the nighttime & daytime POVs, I was completely blown away by Big Grizzly Mtn. I really did not pay much attention to this attraction and just thought it would be like a grizzly-themed BTMR. But, wow! The "backwards lift" really caught me off guard in the POV as well as the launch. Also, I was surprised that it is only around 85' tall (CNN). Disney built a winner and this makes HKDL more "complete".
  16. Anyone think that Sky Screamer will replace Flashback? I personally think that its days are numbered and this seems like a good replacement (as almost anything is a good replacement for a boomerang ).
  17. Six Flags Discovery Kingdom: Part 2 I wasn't able to get all of my photos in yesterday since the Library closed, so here are the remaining images: We'll start this part of the trip report with Medusa's infamous element: The Sea Serpent Roll. I can feel the pain! Sky Screamer is upstaging Medusa in this photo. Medusa is not happy, turn the star flyer to stone! Where's the Vertical Velocity? I personally think this is an amazing photo of three coaster hills. Look at this picture for 5 more seconds. Sky Screamer, do super attack on Medusa! Elephant time! The elephant didn't like the show, so he left. See, the elephant is part of the audience. Hey, elephant! That's my seat. That zookeeper in the back should learn an important lesson. Never go behind a wild animal. I hope this elephant won't rampage. Guest 491 - Mountain Lion 1 looks furious. Prepare to get wet! What are you looking at? This camera hates focusing on butterflies. Random butterfly info. Dolphin time! There is a law that every Superman coaster has to be epic, like how all looping coasters need to have OTSRs. Also, there is a law that every Superman coaster needs a Superman logo at the enterance. Very strict laws... The final picture of the trip report. No more SFDK photos. Comments wanted!
  18. Hello TPR members, After being on this website for over a year, I have never done a photo trip report before. Now, I am doing my 1st trip report and following trip reports in a series called XYZ's Epic Adventures. It will be like threads that Skycoastin' Steve, cfc, and others have done where I submit a new trip report each time I visit an amusement park. Well, here it goes. Page 1 - Six Flags Discovery Kingdom (below) Page 1 - Legoland California Miniland Page 1 - Legoland California I just want to put down that I did some minor editing to this pictures by making them a little brighter and a little more saturated to make them look better. If there are any problems, please PM me. We'll start this trip report with a Medusa photo, but some weird people like to see the journey to the park, so we'll go with the journey. Going through the Sunol Grade. It's very exciting. Going down the Sunol Grade, again very exciting. Random sign. Larry likes this. This is supposedly the only zeppelin you can ride in the US and it goes around San Jose, the East Bay, and some other places. Oh noes! Toll road. These are some ships, I think from WWII and they are just sitting here waiting to be scrapped. Kind of sad. Give me some money! Bridge enthusiasts rejoice! Three bridges, one photo! Superman! So close to being open. Medusa strangling Sky Screamer. This is very normal. V2.2.2.2.2.2... Roar being Roar. Cobra & Ride of Pain. Roar, Superman, and lockers too. This is a photo of a mohawk. Twisty! Twisty! Hi Robb. This is a photo of a net. If you're wandering what the weather was that day, well it was raining in the morning. Yep, a rainy day in the California summer. Yes, all the previous photos were taken outside the park. All Intamin fanboys will make this photo their desktop background. Porthole Funnel Cakes. OK... Hang time! Cigarette Enthusiasts - Not Happy. A San Franciscan Giraffe. A San Franciscan Elephant. Ah! My eyes are bleeding from the Falling Eyes advertisement. If Robb was riding this, there will be a 70% chance of him saying Weee! I'll end this part of the trip report with this zoomed in photo of Medusa!
  19. It's good they're starting construction this early and not procrasinating *cough* SFDK *cough*. I think the Whizzer ghost is happy that something is "replacing" it after 24 years.
  20. For my personal scheduling reasons, I hope so. I kind of have a feeling they're expecting it to take longer because they still haven't announced a date to the GP. I'm not really sure what still needs to happen except additional testing. Anyone know? People have to understand that more goes into getting a coaster open to the public than just testing...seems like there's several other things on top of the ride testing that still need to be finished before the ride opens. I agree with EastCoastn07, there was still a lot of concrete work on the enterance and the queue isn't finished yet. There probably is a lot of other things they need to do that us enthusiasts don't know about.
  21. I was at the park yesterday and there was no Superman testing. They were doing something with a track connection in the middle of the southern spiral. When I saw Superman, it wasn't as massive as I expected as the pictures make it look much more massive. Also, the non-inverting loop is shaped like a zero rotated 90 degrees rather than HRRR's non-inverting loop which is more circular. Pandemonium used to have this star on the ground next to the enterance, now it is the Superman symbol which looks really good. Superman's logo sign on S:UF looks really amazing. I saw the trains in the station with "g-force jackets" on the seats and water dummies. Superman's spirals have the old Premier track design while the non-inverting loop and heartline roll have the new design. All in all, this looks like a very good addition to SFDK and I hopefully will ride it before the year ends. Medusa was running really well. I rode the front seat of Roar for the first time of the 2012 season and I see no difference between the 2011 and 2012 seasons of the roughness. They had some good shirt discounts at Sky Supply & Kingdom Market. I have some pictures that I will combine with my SCBB pictures which I will post a trip report in about a week once I move to San Diego and get my internet connection. Sadly, there will be no Superman train shots as my camera's battery died and also I only saw it through the construction walls, anyways there was nothing really major to see. For those who want a POV, it probably won't be shown in a long time. I would be really surprised if Superman would open next week, they have a lot of stuff to still do.
  22. This year, I only went to SFDK & SCBB for now. In a few weeks, I'm going to LLC, Belmont Park, & SFMM.
  23. I went to SCBB yesterday and Giant Dipper was open! There was one-train operations on Giant Dipper since the blue train seemed to get damaged in the zero car. This was noticable since the front car was in the transfer track in the station without a zero car and you can see the notches and connectors for the zero car that aren't on the other cars. While in line, the red train stopped too late with the sixth car in the fifth car's line, so the riders got an additional ride. This caused a kid to throw up in the last car. The Giant Dipper ran much smoother than last year as those turns that usually bang you to the right were very smooth and was fun. I rode Double Shot which as usual gave ejector air-time. Hurricane was very rough when I rode it and looked like it wasn't very well maintaned, more because of how it is for sale. I got dizzy for the rest of the day because of Hurricane's helixes. The Haunted Castle was running fine as usual and the effects are as good as last year. Crazy Surf was running but broke down at around 7pm. Rock & Roll still has the "No Rocking" rule. Also, on Mondays & Tuesdays after 5pm in the summer, all rides are $1. My family of 4 only spent 13 tickets on all the rides which lasted 2 hours. $13 of entertainment for 4 people for 2 hours seems like a really big bargain for me. So, give it a try.
  24. Darn it, I was planning to go to SFDK right before I moved to So Cal. Well, I'm planning another trip up here to move the last of my things, so maybe I can squeeze SFDK in there somehow.
  25. Yes. Moving to So Cal. Have you ever gotten 15 or more new credits in one day?
